  1. Or you could just buy the book as it is, not press it, and get what you paid for? Expecting discounts so you can cover potential restoration disasters seems wrongheaded, somehow.
  2. Legal sized scanner. Don't have one myself, so my pics usually suck, but most of the guys around here, that's how they roll.
  3. I've always wondered why that Vampirella Gallery book wasn't hotter. It's chromium, it's JSC, seems like people would be eating it up! I don't collect JCS much anymore, but these are some of my faves, nice job!
  4. I dunno, variants, gimmick covers and the like are all the rage again. Seems like it's Wizard's time to shine!
  5. Amen! You can even get the boxes delivered directly to your home, so there's really no reason to go to a post office and interact with a person, like, ever. It's great! I used to stay away from the medium flat rate boxes because that was a bit pricey for shipping raw books, but the Region A boxes, or a 1092/1095 combo, are ideal. I have no idea how they make money on the whole arrangement (I guess they don't, since they always seem to be in a financial crisis) but as long as they're offering to send me free packaging, let me print the tickets out at home, AND they'll come pick it up for free...there's just no other way to roll.
  6. The 24/7 bins are good if you're only shipping 1st class or media stuff. But if you have at least one priority package in your shipment, USPS will pick them up from your doorstep. Once I found that out a few years ago, it CHANGED MY LIFE. Oh, those years of dragging tons of boxes in to USPS to get priced and shipped. Ugh. If I could only have that time back.
  7. As for the Comic Club thing, I'm not sure if you're strictly talking about a buyer incentive program, or a pull list, or both. I have a pull list at my preferred LCS. There's no cost to join, I think you have to get at least three titles, and you get 15% off all new books. You are expected to pick everything up within 30 days, I believe. Another LCS I frequent has a buyer rewards program, a "Spree Card", where you get a punch/sticker on a card for every $50 you spend, and after you spend $250, you get a $50 gift card to the store.
  8. I had a similar experience a year or two ago. A fairly big local dealer was set up at a show. I saw a GA Batman on the wall that I was interested in, priced $400. I asked him what he had it graded at, and he said "It's graded at $400." SO...yeah.
  9. Tomorrow is the 14 day mark for my 6 book MFT sub. Will it magically move to graded? We shall see!
  10. I know, that one always kills me. I had the Best Offer option up on all of my BIN items, and I still get those questions. It's like, hey, at least have the decency to lowball me through the proper channels!
  11. My favorite recent deadbeat story goes thusly: 1. Auctioned a ton of NECA Aliens figures. One buyer won a set of Covenant figures. 2. After three days pass and there is no payment, I send a reminder. 3. Get a message from buyer telling me they don't have any money, and can't pay for the item. I reply that they still have one more day before eBay opens the automatic unpaid item case, and even after that, they'll have a few more days to get the money together, before eBay closes the case and strikes their account. 4. They reply that they don't WANT the item. I ask why they bid on it then, and they reply that it was their son who bid on it. At this point I'm pretty sure I'm talking to a kid, because the grammar and spelling are shorthand and atrocious. 5. Case closes with no further action. I get my fees, they get a strike. 6. The day after the case closes, the buyer sends me a message asking where the item is??? 7. I explain that it was never shipped, because they never paid for it, and that the case is now closed and we're done. 8. They respond that they're sorry, they thought for a minute that they accidentally paid for it, because, you know, that would be a terrible thing to do. I've been selling for 20+ years on eBay, and 99.9% of the transactions are smooth as silk. But man, there are some real winners out there stinking up the gene pool. PS: Happy ending: relisted the items and sold them for more than they closed at the first time, to a buyer who paid right away.
  12. Totally agreed. I'm not as in love with WW as most folks (including my wife) but I did like it quite a bit. Didn't care for Homecoming.
  13. I normally go for Steelbooks, but I think the cover art is pretty ugly. The digibook (Target, I'm assuming) is pretty sweet looking, so I'll probably go with that.
  14. I think it's Spider-fatigue (definitely the reason why it took me so long to finally get around to watching it) coupled with the fact that while it was positively reviewed, it wasn't exactly met with raves. "Logan" is one of the most well reviewed movies of the year, and had terrific word of mouth. It also had a couple of decent movies to build on ("The Wolverine" and "X-Men DoFP"...best to not talk about "Apocalypse") whereas Spider-Man is having to rebuild after three bad movies. There's a lot of goodwill left to be restored for cinematic Spidey. Since this one did solid (if unspectacular) business, I'd expect the next entry will do better numbers. As for Wonder Woman, there were decades of build-up for that movie. People have been wanting to see a "Wonder Woman" movie most of their lives, and when it turned out to not be terrible, it was a no-brainer that it would do bang up business. It also resonated with female audiences more than anyone apparently expected.
  15. The Pressman variants are all pretty well known around here. The pressmans all have some sort of color ink variation, and their issue #'s have been identified. No relation to the 302 that I'm aware of.
  16. Zenescope: "At Least Our Artists Aren't Tracing Porn!" Boundless: "Our Artists Are Definitely Tracing Porn" There's a Greg Land joke to be made in there as well, but I'm lazy.
  17. And once it hits the dollar theaters, it'll REAAAAAAALLY get to movin'!
  18. Thanks! We got the first two full eps recorded this week, the theme recorded, etc. Now in the process of getting the social media stuff set up, so hopefully we'll be launching within the coming weeks. The idea was to ramp up to the "Black Lightning" television series and hopefully piggyback any interest that may have, although that's not the full focus of the show. If anyone has any specific characters or topics they'd like addressed, shoot 'em on over! I'll pop back in once I have something concrete to announce re: the launch. Thanks for reading!
  19. These days I think everyone is buying every cheap obscure first appearance they can get their mitts on, in case they hit the movie lottery. TV can lead to a bump, but it seems like movies really turn those dials.
  20. There's also the fact that CFD was prime Linsner, whereas most of the Zenescope books look like hot garbage. I mean, they're not Boundless bad, but they're still pretty bad.
  21. Ah, this seems like the perfect opportunity to once again bring up my favorite CGC crackpot thread: Comic Coin! Comic Book Coin is Coming!
  22. I believe it is a marker or a highlighter of some sort. It's not a terrifically composed photograph, but his dumb mug always makes me laugh.
  23. Oops, sad day for my spelling as well, apparently. That's what I get for day drinking!
