  1. One of my all time favorites. Looks like a nice copy, congrats. It's not a tough book to find but difficult in a decent grade. This book was on the stands when I was born, many years ago. I agree this is one of the best WW covers.
  2. I believe this is the best single characterization of the bronze age. At the time, society was interested in Evel Knievel and the occult, so Marvel came up with Ghost Rider. Chasing faddish culture even made its way into romance comics, which were still doing well at the beginning of the Bronze Age. Notice the fashions and the "hip" language that suddenly invaded the genre. Unfortunately, the end result was was either hysterical or embarassing depending on how well you know how young people normally dressed and spoke then. The writers were clearly showing their age.
  3. Agreed--and I also meant to imply that Claremont went too far with issue 137. (Some say that Jim Shooter demanded the ending that was published in 137, but killing off Thunderbird--a pretty good character in my opinion--and Phoenix earlier in the series for basically no reason seems to reveal that Claremont was prone to kill off important characters for shock value alone.) In any case, the Dark Phoenix saga was so great and the ending so trite that I lost all respect for the series--although the character remains one of my all time favorites.
  4. 1. Huntress 2. Vampirella 3. Jean Grey (until they killed her off for the third time and then I stopped reading any and all X-Men--my BS meter had redlined)
  5. Around 1K—mostly silver and bronze age—including comic magazines such as Mad and Vampirella (I am not sure if they count). 26 of them are slabbed.
