  1. +1 (thumbs u Supergirl #19 from 2007. She rocked one pretty good with Ale Garza's linework.
  2. There was nothing wrong with the Ryan Reynolds original. Hollywood needs to stop rebooting everything.
  3. Sounds like they don't know how to market it and are gonna rely on comic-fans to spread the word-of-mouth. I say "sell" Melissa as the beautiful and solid actress she is, as the next Sandy Bullock or Hillary Swank. I don't mean put her on some Maxim or Cosmo covers, so she winds up as a 15 minute celebrity like Gigi Hadid, but start having her carry some of the weight in publicity as well by doing more stories in Newsweek or Time or other associciated press, showing she is "doing something important for young girls. Trailblazing the way for equality for down the road or something...". Show up at schools or hospitals, to show what a true darling she probably is. I mean a Jessica Alba route to celebrity in funnybook movies is one thing, but when you have an actress like Melissa (Hillary Swank was in the 4th Karate Kid movie and did pretty well after), looking down the road at her career then might be as beneficial to this program as well. If she turns out to be the next Linda Carter, she alone might carry the show four seasons on primetime. We need to fall in love with her first and discover her as a person, before we even watch the show. They have to make us feel like they are doing something important, while giving us our weekly dose of disposable entertainment. My
  4. Here's this for a coincidence. I was born on June 19th, 1975 and my initials are JWS.
  5. Just saw this for the first time today. OUTSTANDING! - Directed by Boyd Kirkland (from Batman: the Animated Series) - Kevin Conroy as Batman - Michael 'Commander Kang' Ansara as MR Freeze - Efrem Zimbalist, Jr. as Alfred 3.5/5 stars (thumbs u I didn't like the closing scene at first, but it really grew on me since. I wanted Freeze to have a happier ending, but he did get an unexpected happy one, just with no personal pay-off. It eventually seemed "real" as he hobbled off in the sunset as things will never be the same for him in the condition he is in. If only Batman & Robin (1997), had used Mr. Freeze like this...
  6. I was thinking the exact same thing. Punk was dead by 1979. Punk was dead, but Mr. T was still kicking in the mid-80's. Didn't Robert Downey Jr. have a mohawk in Back To School? I might be thinking of another movie.
  7. I've always though the first movie (especially the Director's Cut) was a done-in-one movie. The three acts arced everyone's character suffiently. No doors were really left open for a follow-up as no mytholgy was left unresolved, like for instant Star Wars, which was essentially another done-in-one movie, but laid too muck backstory down, so that a sequel could actually expand it's universe ever so slightly. The Golden Army, basically a good follow-up decided to say this... "Wait, wait! We could go in this direction" and left the door open, but the audiences obviously felt it was a rehash and didn't want to continue the journey with the character. The same argument could be made for the Blade movies. The way I'm seeing all this is Perlman wants to do this to better sell this series a trilogy "Box Set" (not sure if anyone buys box sets anymore? ). Another movie will also help sell the other two better. I figure if he's such a billionaire, just finance it himself, if it's such a "hot" property. I friggin' dare him.
  8. I always gauged the failures at the box-office that don't get the Happy Meal product placements (King Kong, Small Soldiers, etc). But I believe the Star Trek reboot was hyped at Burger King, so there are exceptions... But, Denny's?
  9. Maybe he should look at all the movies coming out from now to 2020, and then think how much cinema attendees WANT these silly superhero movies. I can see what he is talking about from an "art" standpoint and will always give him props for passing on Exorcist II: The Heretic to work on the outstanding "Sorcerer" (Exorcist was the #1 movie of all time a couple years before Jaws). But then again, it sounds like sour grapes too, from the guy that directed "The Guardian".
  10. Did you know... Unlike Luthor, Otis actually has a musical theme.
  11. Same here. (thumbs u I still haven't watched the pilot yet too.
  12. Just put a cape on him and totally screw-up his origin multiple times (unless they only do that to their female characters) and you have the next hot DC property ready for celluloid.
  13. Hi Mr Johns Mr. Johns, I have a great idea about a woodchuck that gets superpowers from a radiated head of lettuce growing near a powerplant. It could be a major DC event! Can I pm you?
  14. I want to point out that when I grew up in the 80's I never thought one of Carpenter's movies would ever get remade. It's unbelievable how many have been. Hopefully, Memoirs of an Invisible Man won't get a reboot though.
  15. You know who would make a great Gracie Law? Anna Kendrick (30 this year). But, they'll probably go with someone taller now because of The Rock. What's Claire Danes doing in between Homeland seasons?
  16. If anyone wants to check out Will Smith & Margot Robie's actor chemistry together, their February opus 'Focus' gets released on Blu Ray tomorrow.
  17. The international Director's Cut was so much better.
  18. Sudbury native. I'm familiar with most regional talent (Affleck, Damon, The Walbergs, Eliza Dushku, Clark Gregg, Adam Sandler, etc). Region of Champions! But, Evans has a great breakout role as an action star in Cellular (Speed meets Taken) and a heroic role in Sunshine, before the Fantastic Four movies. To be fair, you are right. I knew immediately Chris Evans was the actor from the Fox Fantastic Four movie. But even from that film, I really didn't take to him as Johnny Storm. But as Nick Gant in the movie 'Push' I was more impressed with his performance. But once he played Captain America, I was surprised I never pictured him in this role previously. He was the ultimate solid fit for this role. Even though I didn't care much for the first Captain movie, he was perfect for the role. You could see early glimpses with his role in Sunshine (self-sacrifice) that made him the perfect fit. Sunshine Movie spoiler!
  19. Did you watch the unrated one (definitely more intense) or the PG-13 (theatrical cut) one?
  20. Max keeps chugging along. http://www.boxofficemojo.com/news/?id=4062&p=.htm
