  1. I have fond memories of discovering the "Mad Max" franchise on VHS as a kid in mid 80's. I can't wait to catch this one on 3-D Blu Ray. My only question who is the lady who sights in the incoming cars/trucks with her fingers in the trailer? Is she some kind of witch or psychic? Thanks, Jerel
  2. ...and if boardies don't remember Annie Hall's importance to the sy-fy community, it beat Star Wars by becoming 1977's 'Best Picture' at the Academy Awards. (thumbs u
  3. Agreed. Hiring an awkward Sandy Bullock-type is always better than hiring a model/beauty queen if you want to connect with the diverse mainstream. Chances are if the went with a Alexandra Daddario or Julianne Hough-type (maybe too old), audiences would want to see her flattened by a Kryptonite meteor every week, where they tend to root for the girl next door more in death trap scenarios.
  4. and it`s by Fox. They got this reboot right! FOX has already announced plans for the fourth movie where it merges with another company franchise... "Taken by the Planet of the Apes" This time, a time traveling Bryan Mills must go into the future ("I am a man of many skills") to save his daughter when she is grabbed by the time-slidin' simians intent on adding her to a futuristic human museum of lobatomized subjects. Liam "I cannot stop making these kinds of movies" Neeson stars.
  5. BFKAB? Boardie Formally Known As Bosco685... No... No... We're on a comic book site and most funnybook characters have emblems... He needs a symbol, like when Prince used one instead of his name. Graffiti Bridge! Oh great, I can't get "Thieves in the Temple" out of head now!
  6. Couldn't pull the trigger on Batman Unlimited: Animal Instincts, even for $13 at Best Buy. Didn't really like the trailer on the Batman Vs. Robin movie. I figure it's a lighter Batman Vs. Dracula type effort. I'll wait for the price crash.
  7. It must have been a freak zamboni accident. My psychic warned me about it and the cancellation of Seventh Heaven yesterday.
  8. I bought The Invincible Iron Man today at a yard sale. It probably sucks, but it was co-directed by Jay Olivia (Batman: The Dark Knight returns, Batman Vs. Robin, Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox, Batman: Assault on Arkham and Green Lantern: Emerald Knights) so there's hope.
  9. They easily could give John Constantine a young female protege to mentor and protect, ala his roll in Books of Magic w/Timothy Hunter. Show her the sorcerer-ing ropes around the DCMU, lots of magical guest-characters. Teenage angst, defiance, humor, a tender moment or two, death, destruction and consequences. Works for Harry Dresden. I wouldn't watch it, but it'd probably pick up more viewers. I'm just going to go back and read my Hellblazer TPBs, I'm thinking that is the only place I'm going to be able to get my Constantine fix. There's always Keanu too. Whoah!

  11. The costume looks better in normal lighting... We shall see in Autumn! This should be a moderate hit. It will do better in the ratings then Constantine ever did. Which means for clarification, even though Constantine was a good show we will find more people will watch Supergirl. Any Batman and Superman related media always has a following. They should give Batgirl her own show next if they want good ratings. A safer bet than a show like Constantine. Young adult girls seriously bring in a lot of cabbage to programming aimed towards them. Look at The Hunger Games, Twilight, The Fault in our Stars, Divergent, etc. Add a dash of sexiness and the young guys will follow. Granted, on here we'll complain about the old CW level of casting here and there, but in the end it is better for the hobby in general. Because it's bringing in "new blood" to support the medium and they'll grow up as fans who might make their own mark as well whether in linework or celluloid. Mellisa Benoist, trailblazer? We shall see. Oh, and a Batgirl TV show. (thumbs u We'll immediately need a "Girls Nite Out" episode (Batman: The Animated Series)
  12. One thing to consider too is that we all can admit that audiences didn't want to take the journey of a series to see John's soul saved. Look back at some of the more lengthy running funnybook TV shows like Smallville (Clark's journey into becoming the Man of Steel) or The Incredible Hulk (Bill Bixby's race for a cure). If they get back on their feet again, they might want to try a new angle (past continuity be damned!) for the character to better connect with the mainstream. My
  13. I would expect they get at least two seasons out of Supergirl just because Supergirl is more mainstream friendly, and they can sell more Supergirl merchandise than Constantine. I was going by the memory of the height of 1989's Batmania, and yet CBS's expensive ($1 million an episode) take on The Flash never took off running enough for a second season. I love the Supergirl character and love the casting of Melissa (and yes... the merchandising is there for books, costumes, etc), yet... I have my doubts it will make it to a second season with an expensive TV budget. I see a huge audience for the pilot (Captain Obvious here ) and a gradual decline in numbers.
  14. I just think this show doesn't need "stunt casting of the week" to make it. It's not The Love Boat afterall, it's Costantine! It's just too bad it got cancelled as it was slowly finding it's comfortable narrative. Blame the demands of being in one of the top three networks and having to have to show ratings (good luck to CBS's Supergirl). It would have most likely settled in with an audience at a lesser network that would have been hungry for a low-costing funnybook licensed show.
  15. Thoughts on the price? For me, it wouldn't be respectful to discuss FMV's on open auctions, especially if the seller is a member on here too.
  16. Great book! I wish the seller a brisk sale. (thumbs u
  17. Just got done watching the entire DVD. And this one is jammed with incredible extra DC Showcase episodes containing Jonah Hex, The Spectre, Green Arrow, Justice League Unlimited x 2. - Main Shazam origin story with Black Adam: ***1/2 - Overall DVD content: **** I'd personally rank this much higher. I'm actually considering taking it off my list altogether and start a new list underneath of DC shorts. Technically that's what it is at about 25 minutes. DC shorts are ten times better than feature length animated Marvel efforts (so far).
  18. So, I guess CBS liked what they saw in the pilot. (thumbs u
  19. I kept thinking this thing was coming out this year. By next year, I'll be sick of this thing. It'll feel like it took forever to make. Who's producing it? Pixar?
  20. I've got the 2-disc Special Edition under the telly ready to watch when I'm back in the mood. Want to get Mask of the Phantasm and the two-disc Crisis on Infinite Earths in two weeks to watch with.
  21. Not every movie that does this is doomed. 1982 Poltergeist Rumored Spielberg took over for Tobe Hooper. That turned out fine (the reboot coming out this summer), even despite one of the stars getting murdered by her jealous boyfriend before or after (I forget) the film's immediate release. If that happened nowadays though... Don't worry about the box-office numbers. It still was a good movie, I'm still scared of clown dolls to this day even. Nowhere near the same. This movie WISHES it could get some publicity like Spielberg might take over the movie. And Spielberg's forceful presence on Poltergeist had nothing to do with Hooper's inadequacies. That's just Spielberg. And Tobe Hooper had already created a masterpiece of horror in Texas Chainsaw Massacre which did $30M ($143M adjusted for 2015) on practically no budget. Poltergeist had a budget of 10.7 million dollars ($26.2 adjusted for 2015).... that's a spit in the bucket. Fantastic Four is at least $200 million and they're still not even sure how to promote it. This movie has disaster written all over it. Now I want to go and watch the original Poltergeist... it's been awhile... You know, I had that urge last night too (I have the bare-boned extras disc). But, I was binge watching Season 1 of Brooklyn Nine-Nine and couldn't stop.
