  1. This actually explains a lot. If any of this is is true, he'll just be forgiven in Hollywood down the road and his current alleged struggle with the 'craft' will look all the more poignant for other filmmakers, critics and audiences. That authentic pain behind the lens trying to assemble bloated monstrosities might just lead to more serious work too. The wheels on the bus go round and round...
  2. Not every movie that does this is doomed. 1982 Poltergeist Rumored Spielberg took over for Tobe Hooper. That turned out fine (the reboot coming out this summer), even despite one of the stars getting murdered by her jealous boyfriend before or after (I forget) the film's immediate release. If that happened nowadays though... Don't worry about the box-office numbers. It still was a good movie, I'm still scared of clown dolls to this day even.
  3. So if it beats that is it considered a success? What does one have to do with another? If Green Lantern is considered a bomb by Warner Bros standards, than what if the new FF can`t beat that? What if the new FF reboot can`t beat each of the first two FF movies box office domestically? What if the new FF reboot can`t beat 100 million domestically? Remember FF Rise of the Surfer did $131,921,738. Green Lantern movie did : $116,601,172 If this FF reboot falls in that range it`s a bomb. Way off topic, but I was always fascinated with this coincidence (and my date forced me to go to the latter movie). Green Lantern's WW haul was an estimated $219.8 million ($200 mil. budget) and a couple of weeks later the Selena Gomez vehicle Monte Carlo ($20 mil. budget) was released, finally grossing 39.6 WW. Despite Green Lantern, reaching over $200+ million and a heavy merchandising campaign, they turned in almost the same amount of profit world wide. Does that make the fact Monte Carlo recouped itself the bigger hit?
  4. There should be an alternate "Dallas"-type series called 'The House of El'.
  5. Yes, Ledger's Joker was good, but he still missed by a mile. Then again, that's just my opinion. Depends on what Joker you read growing up. I thought he nailed it. I was always a fan of Clint Eastwood's Fistful of Dollars movies growing up. Thought Ledger was absolutely brilliant of basically The Man With No Name as he starts to manipulate everyone into battles with each other. Besides his grounded look, he was extremely generous with the cast and they were no match for him (well, William Fitchner and Eric Roberts were pretty good). Most of them looked either shocked (Maggie Gyllenhall, Michael Jai White) or fustrated (Aaron Eckhart, Christian Bale), around him when sharing lines.with him. He was a force of nature.
  6. Frankly, I wasn't a fan of this show at first, but it definitely got better. I would hate to see an awful show like Cristela (rival freshman show, same timeslot) get renewed. But, I understood they couldn't have had it at 10pm (after Grimm). That puts in head to head with 20/20 and Blue Bloods. Monday night at 10pm would have been the best place for it, imho.
  7. I'm wondering if there were focus groups of non-Hollywood people who were shown this look first to judge their reactions.
  8. Nope it's different. The producers have went too far this time. ...and in their desperation, they turned to a man they didn't fully understand, Jared Leto. Now, the producers have changed things, forever. You see to them, the Jared Leto is just a freak, like a bat-nippled George Clooney. But now, there's no going back. And as soon as the mainstream audience doesn't need his Joker anymore, they'll cast him aside, like Halle Berry's Catwoman.
  9. I... just... love... double-dipping on something that should have been available for the first DVD/Blu Ray release. X-Men 1.5 anyone or Spider-Man 2.0?
  10. No, please lord, no! howabout silk? Topher Grace needs employment
  11. Don't do it, man. Avoid that one like the plague. Seriously. edit: I don't see the aforementioned 'Batman: Mask of the Phantasm' on your list. It's decent and part of Batman:TAS history. And once you run out of movies, dig into Young Justice. It's movie-quality and 2-seasons worth. I knew you would know with your expertise with the Superman: The Animated Series. I just saw it looked very similiar to it and almost bought it. But, there was something empty about it too (no extras even). Yup, Batman: Mask of the Phantasm is definitely next to complete my trilogy (SubZero, Batwoman). (thumbs u Yeah, I bought half the first season of Young Justice (Christmas Tree Shop) and loved it! It wasn't what I was expecting at all (Tiny Teen Titans or something along those lines). Aqualad was bad-azz, Artemis too. Miss Martian. I felt so cheated. My generation had the Superfriends.
  12. I gotta say, I loved the 5 minute bonus short "Chase Me" on the Mystery of the Batwoman DVD.
  13. Last column is the worldwide results adjusted for 2015 inflation since release date. For those wondering what the dollar value of each movie would be today. Whoopsie!
  14. Total Domestic Gross of Superman III was: $59,950,623 million. Saw it at The Milford Drive-In as a kid.
  15. Picked up Justice League: The New Frontier & Batman: Mystery of the Batwoman on the cheap tonight for my DVD collection. Getting kind of scared as I'm running out of DC movies to watch. Is there any that I'm missing? Mr. Davenport, what did you think of Superman: Brainiac Attacks?
  16. You got all that from a trailer? You know I didn't. I also read Internet forums too. I'm just being honest that I can't see this being good. Yes, because Internet forums are a haven of reasoned & intelligent discussions.
  17. Shoe horned universe? I would think all the cinematic advances that finally allows for superhero realism have been leading up to this. Superman and Batman? C'mon. General audiences who couldn't have named a single Avenger before their movie know these two heroes. Worldwide. That's not saying WB can't screw it up. But if done well it should be an 'Event' film like hasn't been seen for quite some time. Only thing that WB could do to screw this up is kill either Batman or Superman, then bring them back from the dead in a future picture. That would leave a terrible taste in mainstreams fans minds, similar to what happened with comics in the 90s when they killed off Superman, and broke Batman`s back. We comic book fans will tolerate those shenanigans do to our loyality, but mainstream won`t have that same loyalty. So please Warner don`t use the kill off Superman or Batman gimmick! I have to admit a lot of my early reservations over Marvel Agents of SHIELD, was in fact how they brought Coulson back (off camera) so quickly. At least with Star Trek, it took years (a couple of movies) before Spock got all his marbles back.
  18. Just finished The Batman Vs. Dracula (2005). I have only watched one episode of The Batman TV show ("Ring Toss"), so I wasn't overly familiar with the animation style. I dragged my feet on this one, because the box art looks like one of those direct-to-video Scooby-Doo opuses. I thought the movie was really good in places and really ordinary in others. One thing is for certain, it was really violent for a family friendly looking Batman production. One by one, elite members of Gotham's SWAT team are quickly whisked away to their doom by Dracula (offscreen). A cute blood bank girl, is killed by the Joker who was turned into a vampire (offscreen), he then gets into a fight with Bats, as it literally rains blood (color muted to dark brown/black, due to being nightime) from overturned shelves. Vicky Vale even finds the time to get kidnapped twice (I thought Kim Bauer held that record) during the climax. It's not rated, but might be too intense and moody for the wee ones. Borderline thumbs up, there are worse Marvel animation efforts out there. I'll revisit this one during Halloween, a little down the road. 1. Batman: The Dark Knight Returns**** 2. 19. Yeah, once you get past the Adam West ears. They're fine. Who had the tallest Bat-Ears anyway? Val Kilmer?
