  1. The show on Nick? I didn't know it was based on a comic book. Not specifically. However, any superhero themed TV show or movie has to trace it's influence back to comic books. That's why, earlier in the thread, I nominated The Greatest American Hero TV show. Then why not Supah Ninjas?
  2. For fans of Amelie and Indiana Jones, I want to recommend The Extraordinary Adventures of Adèle Blanc-Sec. It's based on a French comic series by Jacques Tardi. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Extraordinary_Adventures_of_Ad%C3%A8le_Blanc-Sec_(film) It got a 80% at Rotten Tomatoes, Louise Bourgoin was gorgeous in the titular role and it was directed by The Fifth Element's Luc Besson. Despite it's light storytelling, it has top notch set pieces and highly amusing moments of comedy (there's a slight mummy invasion in Paris at the end). By the end of the movie, you feel like you watched a dream.
  3. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electra_Woman_and_Dyna_Girl But, I'll nominate "White Out" to the list. The current NH weather jogged my memory on that one.
  4. When I bought my Wonder Woman Christmas ornament at Target, the cashier broke down telling me how beautiful Linda Carter was and how she called her up to tell her she won a beauty contest (way back when). I never see this kind of iconic stuff with celebs from that era (even my sister was WW for Halloween '78). If this character is done right, it will explode. I swear these young girls addicted to princess stuff are looking for a kick-butt one to move the genre forward a bit (if The Brave, Tangled are indicators).
  5. To everyone who are saying let Disney have the Fantastic Four property back, you have to ask yourself if they can really actually produce a movie about a superhero family (invisible girl, stretchy-person, etc) and make it work? Fox has tried a couple of times already, third times the charm I figure. I would love to see Pixar to get this myself. -Jerel, who secretly loves the four-fingered Sue Storm from the Marvel "Superhero Squad Show".
  6. These are great. I amazed how well done the Fleischer animation was. True classics. I love the Fleischer cartoons and I really want to have them on DVD. But there's been so many different releases of this and know many of them are not the best transfers or have undesirable tweeking. And since Amazon lumps all their reviews for a similar product together, it's hard to separate the good from the bad. Any recommendations on which release of the Fleischer Supermans to get? I thought the best transfers were done around the time Superman Returns came out. They are in a yellow box set and available at most dollar stores for $5! I was watching a Superman documentary DVD (again from a dollar store) and according to history, Fleischer didn't want to work on Superman, so they gave a huge price to make it and the studio agreed to do it.
  7. I was going to post that! Also, Wonder Woman (2009). Another fantastic DC animated movie. Beat me to it by seconds, Nick. (thumbs u
  8. The Wonder Woman movie (voiced by Kerri Russell) was quite good. The double dic DVD has the history of WW, that's very interesting also.
  9. I've been addicted to the Marvel "Superhero Squad Show". I swear they inject some of the funniest stuff for adults during "The Infinity Guantlet" season. The episode (The Ballad of Beta Bill) where Thor is marooned on a space-station with Beta Ray Bill was pretty hysterical for show aimed at the wee ones. Also, the Wolverine team-up with H.E.R.B.I.E.
  10. Well, I finnnnnalllllly caught up with the Fast & Furious movies (4-6) and I have no problem with Gal's casting as Wonder Woman. I kinda see what they might being going for with the tall "perfectly-sculpted-goddess" look. There's a lot of emotion behind her eyes that shows she's not all about looks. Almost a weariness. I guess we will wait and see.
  11. If it's a page 1 rewrite, that would signal a problem in my eyes, but if it's just to refine what's already there, it will probably be a positive. It's not uncommon to see rewrites for a movie in production. Well, best in "pre-production". I've always found any re-writes in actual production not a good sign on how the movie is going. It's probably just a polish at this point anyway. Official filming doesn't start until February 2014. Nobody is assuming changes are occurring during filming, are they? February to August 2014 I don't think we will hear about -script changes until after the fact anyway. This will probably be an almost $300 million juggernaut that Warner Brothers needs to be the next Avengers and I don't mean the 1998 big-budget WB belly-flop.

  13. The toy sales will take care of that. The award noms and wins, just add more bucks to the grosses and certain bragging rights of cinematic prestige. Really?? What toy sales? Every single kid wants Marvel stuff. Kids have no interest in DC. None. More bucks to the grosses?? Seriously? Are you comparing WB grosses to Disney's ? That's like the paper delivery guy comparing his earnings to Bill Gates. But hey, you keep believing DC is still relevant. The people with IQs higher than sea kelp know where to invest. It's Marvel. Hey, go easy on me now. I kinda enjoyed Catwoman.

  15. You guys are aware of Christopher Nolan's billion dollar Dark Knight trilogy? What they are doing might (probably is) be out of continuity, but after two rehashings of the Bat origins within 24 years, I can't see them doing it again with another actor and keeping stuff fresh to attract moviegoers. From my understanding, Batman is only a co-star in a Superman movie that is gonna lead to bigger DC things. I hope.
  16. I read that today. In the same article still talking about Wonder Woman and Nightwing. Could it be a little too soon to introduce the "death" of Superman by the second movie? Cliffhanger ending. They always say the middle chapter of a trilogy is a darker one. The heroes tend to lose. + we never saw a "death" of Superman on film yet.
  17. Bought Season One on Black Friday. Can't wait to catch up on this series. Of course, I bought 15 seasons of other shows too.
  18. All I have to say on the length of excitement with this series that builds potential monetary interest down the road is... how good has the book been after #48? How long would a TV show last if it followed a similiar route? I know this is a more character driven show (since Hollywood zombie crazes tend to 'die' out), but being ignored by the Emmy's isn't the biggest sign of acting credibility for popular long-running dramas. This is not a jab at the die-hard TWD (comic or TV) fans either. I was HUGE Locke & Key fan before Clockworks #1 myself and walked away from that title with no regrets by #3. On my opinion on the future 'wealth' of graded copies of TWD. I would say buy the OA. It's one of a kind. If you want to get a "piece of the action" to make others jealous, seek out the truly RARE "Dead Planet" proposal book. Pool your $$$ into that, not one of the many 9.9's.
  19. How about Man of Steel:The Dark Knight Falls Man of Steel:Shadow of the Bat Man of Steel:Dark Knight Returns Man of Steel:The Dark Knight Strikes Sarah, I actually like your titles better. They are like the title of Man of Steel itself (they mean something deeper than one would expect about an alien with steel-like skin). Like Nick agreed on, Man of Steel:Shadow of the Bat is the best because they need something different with the caped crusader on the billing that doesn't remind you of the previous franchises (Batman or The Dark Knight). I think you could even drop Man of Steel too, not because it sounds like Star Trek Into Darkness, but because technically his character arc already in this installment already helped the audience understand how strong on the inside he really is. It just become redundant with every sequel if they use it. So, basically I don't know what you could call it. "Batman Vs. Superman" sounds about right, I guess.
  20. Just discovered the show. Brilliant story line indeed. Only in season 1 right now. It gets even better with season 2 and I'm just a couple of episodes into season 3 and it's took another leap in quality already. One of those shows that has quality writing and great characters. Absolutely loving Season 3!
  21. It's my favorite Superman movie (and #1 on my favorite movie of 2013) DCfangirl? I only saw one trailer (the one on the Dark Knight Rises disc), I heard a few spoilers on Facebook, but I have to admit this movie absolutely blew me away in the storytelling and acting department. I couldn't believe the awful actor in "Cold Light of Day" could pull off being Superman the way he did. Diane Lane was superb in the subtle 'lost' way she acted after losing her spouse. Michael Shannon is always a hoot as a baddie (Premium Rush). I won't say this will be my favorite movie of the year, but I can safely agree it will be my favorite comic book movie of 2013. What's more important, as far as I am concerned, the torch has been finally passed from the original franchise, which I might find hard to watch now. The only things I didn't care for were the gratuitous product placements (Sears and ihop), like the originals and the noisy go-for-broke destroy the city (Avengers-style). I'm hoping the sequel does those things a little differently.
  22. That was the intent. So glad to see it is benefitting you in keeping track of movie news as it comes out. Do you ever sleep ? Agent 12's shift is up. Agent 11 is on now.
  23. After reading some of the early comments on here about episode two, I'll watch it with episode three at once and hope some momentum is established.
  24. If the show gets any worse and cancelled, I don't see it hurting the momentum of the film franchises. It will just regarded as the "Star Wars Christmas Special" down the line and included in "The Avengers: Age of Ultron" 3-D Blu Ray set.
