If I can interrupt the unabashed ball washing of HarveySwick for just one second, I think you guys are glossing over some very serious red flags.
1) Harvey used his power as commissioner to acquire players in his fantasy football league in the shadiest way possible.
2) he's a lawyer, and lawyers have no soul.
3) like all lawyers, he has a drinking problem. Always going on about "passing the bar". Get help Harvey, please.
4) he's from boston, and they just had a record amount of snowfall in Boston. Coincidence?
5) one of the sellers 2 ebay accts (nothing shady there) is a reference to the 98 yankees, the greatest team of all time. And Yankee fans are above reproach.
I think ottobord should continue to fight the good fight, and not allow himself to get steam rolled by the obvious favoritism being displayed by the board.
Swick ball washing is a serious crime in itself.
Puts a new twist on the quote "passing the bar"

Take advice from us stupid people.
The more you drag this out... the more those ebay accounts will be passed around... and the more you will be singled out as a problem seller.
Act swiftly ... and you can walk away unscathed and just try harder next time

your response is stupid
The sue him part was... that's a given.
Unfortunately, if you sent second prints instead of first prints... especially after SPECIFICALLY being asked by a potential buyer which one they were... then you are at fault.
Just suck it up and compensate him for his loss. Swick wouldn't lie about a missing book. Ask anyone, he's a good egg.
Easy peasy and you will then get to make more mistakes here that you can fix later

I need opinions.
I recently purchased a Strangers in Paradise lot HERE.
I PMed the seller several times to ask if they were First Printings. The seller didn't really seem to understand how the series was set up and just replied "I assume they are."
There are three volumes. Vol. 1 is the volume most people want (obviously). There are only three issues in that volume. I know those three issues weren't included with this set. But Volume 2 was included and that volume has second and third printings. I asked the seller several times to confirm that Volume 2 were all first printings. The guy clearly didn't know what he had. I sent him 6 books in particular including the actual images of the books to confirm they were first printing. He said he checked and they were all first printings.
He sent his eBay accounts when I asked about his packaging/shipping. I should have realized when I looked at what he actually sells that he really isn't a comic book dealer in any sense of the word.
I get the books today and here is what I wrote him:
Hey John,I got the books. Thank you for the fast shipping and secure packaging...
BUT there are a few issues.
One of the key issues I asked you to check to see if it was a First Printing - Vol.2 #2 :
I saw this and immediately felt GULP:
Sure enough it's a Second Printing.
Then I'm missing Vol. 3 #1 -- this issue shown in your photos.
#7 is a Gold Logo Reprint (there is no regular edition #7).
Finally, this is my fault, but I guess I expected the books to all be bagged and boarded. Many are missing boards and some don't even have bags!
Please let me know what you'd like to do. I don't think it's worth it for either of us for me to ship the books back for a full refund, but I think some sort of partial refund would be a fair compromise since I'm missing a couple key books and will need to buy bags and boards.
-Justin
I figured it's going to be expensive for both of us to ship them back so I figured - what the heck, if he wants to throw me a partial refund, I'll just suck it up and make the best out of whatever I have.
His response is kind of snide and he says just send them back. I asked if he would cover the return shipping since this is his mistake and he said he will not cover the return shipping.
As far as Volume 3 #1 -- he replied that it is in the box and he expects it back? But it's not!
Instead I ended up with this random Vertigo book in there.
Would you expect the seller in this case to pay return shipping when I asked him specifically if certain books were first printings AND there are books missing.
Seller should just refund your money and tell you to keep the all the books.
Total seller failure all around.
Sue the pants off him Swick

Going to start scanning this week and hopefully get things rolling next week.

It was a great costume, wasn't it? Superheroes could wear bright colours back in the 70s/80s... but not any more Nothing was ever the same after the 90s... I guess the costume designers listened to too much Grunge

I had a buddy get frustrated with collecting runs... he loved FF but knew he could never afford the early issues... so he came up with an idea to pick a date and collect every issue that came out with a specific month from a specific year.
He chose to pick the month he started collecting which was books cover dated September 1982.
Last time I talked to him, he was still trying to find some of the Charltons that came out at that time.
Collector's mentality I suppose... but it does seem like a fun idea to try to attempt

Miles Teller Talks About Portraying 'Mister Fantatsic''s Powers In FANTASTIC FOUR
--------------------
Empire Magazine also caught up with Miles Teller to talk about what to expect from his take on Reed Richards, and it definitely sounds like he'll be as smart as his comic book counterpart!
"It was good talking with our advisers on set, whether it's the quantum physics stuff or biomechanics," he says. "I always want to know enough about the stuff before I say it. But I'm on layman's terms with the science. I'm a layman's Reed Richards!"
--------------------
Just watched Whiplash with Miles... he's a darn good actor. He can pull this off

Snagged a couple high grade Swamp Thing issues from David recently and they were the bee's knees in quality and condition... plus packed like the nitroglycerine being transported in the movie Sorcerer
Those too young to have not seen that movie need to know that means they were packed "bomb proof"
I appreciate you David... stay awesome my brother

Just a note that Mike sent me the most GLORIOUS 200 comics this week from his recent sale.
Just finished the Fury mini... and getting ready to start on the 80 issue run of Nexus that I haven't read in years.
Every order I've made with Mike has always been packed with care.
He knows I'm just going to read these books, but always packs them like they are stacks of rare Golden Age
My God I love him ! Post more so I can buy more.

Just so everyone has this in their back pocket... EVERYTHING has increased in relation to "cost" but not necessarily "value".... in regards to the aspect of inflation.
