I have no idea how many times I've dealt with Frank (pretty sure it's however many threads he's had), but the one thing I am sure of is I'm always more than satisfied. Super tight grader and I really dig the way he has the stickers on the backs with the grads on them since I have no idea what makes a 9.2 9.4 9.6 etc!

What's everyone's experience with the easiest to find book in $1 and below boxes? I can only go by my stuff and I only started looking about 6 months ago, but I have seven Jonny Quest 5, five Alien Worlds 4 (although 4 came out of the same box), and five Crossfire & Rainbow 4. I dont have anything else in quantity more than 3 from the cheapies.

I've noticed I'm buying a lot of comics lately with scantily clad beautiful women on them (Dave Stevens covers, Lady Mechanika, Warlord of Mars, Warlord of Mars Dejah Thoris, Cavewoman Jungle Jam, Escape From Wonderland, Return to Wonderland, Monster Hunters' Survival Guide, etc.). It must be a phase I'm going through.
Yeah I've been going through that phase for about 20 years!

Selling on eBay?
If you meant the other stuff, like the Bosch mixer, yes he does.

I've never submitted a book to CGC, though I own stacks of Stevens issues. Is the demand for a 9.4 or 9.6 different than the usual "must be a 9.8" mentality on modern books? It obv looks that way looking at what Shark has chosen to submit. Basically, is the return worth the investment if I get a 9.4/9.6 DNAgents 24 instead of a 9.8?
I think the Stevens stuff is in such high demand now that you wouldn't have a problem selling any Dave Stevens cover slab in 9.4 or higher that will more than cover the cost of slabbing. That's just my opinion though.
I guess we'll just follow your sales thread and see, huh?

I still dont have one but am holding out hope I can find one in the $20 and under range. I'm not a 9.8 guy so it shouldnt be THAT big of an undertaking.

Some stuff came. It was fun to open the box. I spent some money and got more than I spent worth of stuff. Yay.

Yeah, I think that is conservative as well. When I looked at the auction last night I looked at who had made bids and that basically told me there were four players. I knew there would be more than those four that with less than 15 seconds to go that would hit "bid". I was just curious to see how many people on here knew about it afterwards. The lister didn't put Dave Stevens in the title which would probably have drawn more people to the listing.
Heck, all the bidders may have been from here. I was first just to get it on my radar. I thought I would be in another bid when it was at $16 but it jumped up to $39 and I just shook my head and laughed. I also had that feeling that was a forumite who won it!

See! Everybody finds DNAgents but me! Great find!
They're still out there online. I just bought another last night, though I had to pay $3.25 shipped for it.

If I don't find a really good one at Heroes in June I may just have to pay for a good one from somewhere.
I'm sure we'll find ourselves elbow to elbow at some point digging for Stevens goodness at Heroes!

Patience my friend, it took me about 6 months to find my one copy.

Suberb pick ups!! Makes $1 box diving all worth it, huh?

I did, however, find a nice copy of Alter Ego #21 on eBay today with the Dave Stevens cover from Iger Comics Kingdom.
Hope you didn't pay more than cover price for it, these are still available from the publisher for $5 :

Looks like he paid $17 with shipping. Way to throw a little cognitive dissonance up at him!
It was actually a little over $12.00 because I bought 2 other books at the same time and he combined shipping on all 3 books. No big deal though. I had forgotten that he posted earlier in the thread about the Alter Ego #21s from the publisher.
$12 isnt bad as you were looking at about $8 from the pub after shipping.

As for my finds at Capt Comic's Charlotte show :
Crossfire & Rainbow 4s came out of Shelton's 10 cent boxes. Alien Worlds and Crossfire 24 were 50 cents each from Steve Smith. Jonny Quest 3/$1 and the SOTI (with glasses and in a mylar!!) was a whopping buck.

I suppose con sketches belong in this thread, too?
I went to Capt Comics show in Charlotte yesterday and pick up this Chrissie Zullo Harley. The DC cover is glossy so the shading doesnt do real well. Still a really cool piece.
I also picked up this Budd Root Black Canary. It's a massive 14 * 16 1/2 and is pretty sweet. It's the only piece in my collection with some nudity but I figured if I ever needed any cash, it would move QUICKLY.
If you want to see the uneditied version, you have to check it out on my CAF gallery.

Another little con tomorrow. C'mon Earl Shaw's cheap boxes!!

Nevermind - it was gone

Got a nice batch today from the VCC and couldn't be happier. Thanks again!

found these this morning -- $ 1 each -- anybody have a clue on the KTSA golden hits album ?? thats one I`ve not seen before , I`m guessing its a regional compilation ??
KTSA is in San Antonio. You also see this same record with different stations from across the country. Obviously a rip-off of the Crumb Cheap Thrills classic by Big Brother. Regardless, cool find for $1.

I've gone through this thread the last few days and you unkind persons had me out pricing shelving units. I'm doomed...doomed I say!
So, for conversion purposes--can anyone tell me how many short boxes I'll need per long box and the weight of a short box? I need to figure out how pricey converting is going to be and the weight load the shelving I'll need will need to take.
This is the kind I use. It has a 5000 lb capacity and can be used in either configuration you see in this pic. The 5 high on the left or the two shorter on the right. The are usually around $80 so you can hold at least 50 boxes for under $200.

I guess that's true. I think you actually have to make a statement for it to be sarcasm. Something like " This book is really hot right now." All he had to do was throw a little GGA on the cover and it would be a scorcher.
-
(OK there were Pacific Presents #1s but I always leave those)
So I guess you didn't hear about the bump in price on this book recently?
Since sarcasm doesn't translate well online, I only have to imagine you're joking. I can put my hands on no less than 30 VF/NM copies at $1 right now. Probably alot more than that if I showed some initiative.
