  1. Long term is exactly what you should be thinking on the regular cover of this book. There's no initial rush from speculators to buy up all the copies.

If the book has a great run (which it should with Wood behind it) it'll probably be a $10 book eventually. If it becomes an AMC show, who knows. Not really much down side unless sales suck and it wraps up early (or never) as many books seem to do these days.

    So...you're saying there's a chance...?!

Yes. There's a 100% chance that if the book doesn't stay at cover price, it will either go up or down in value.

  3. The batman 1 1:200 even in sig series 9.8 has been dropping and the last one went for 800. That's a good bit down from just a few months ago.

DC rebirth has killed the new52's

And how. Those damn foil variants, shoulda grabbed some on the cheap lol

    Jerome

I was wondering what would become of the new 52s. Batman 1 is still putting up good numbers. Rebirth will go the same way after DCs next reboot.

I'm usually anti-variant for investment, but that Snyder run (particularly Court of Owls) will go down as a classic. Might be a good book to pick up if it drops too far.

  4. He then offered multiple covers through his own company after saying they were ruining the market by offering them though retailers. Uhhhh okay... lol

The best was when I asked him what was up with Bedlam 1's ten or so covers and he condescendingly told me it was OK because some DC book had 50 lol

Dude came across as an arrogant head on the boards. That's why people don't like him - not because of free book PMs or whatever.

  5. Question:

Is the Preacher TV show doing well:

    a) general population (non-comic fan) popularity

    b) fanboy feedback on if it's living up to expectations

    c) critical review of if it's getting the ratings and if the network is happy with the series viewership

    AND

Is now a good time to sell mid-level Preacher original art pages, off of the hype, or have we not yet seen it near pinnacle and holding onto 'em may be a smarter play for the long term?

I have pages that only feature Tulip and Amy, and unfortunately or fortunately, it's a sequential series of pages that is a full scene spread across 4 pages, so in one breath I'd hate to sell only one, and in another breath, I don't want to sell them all either, nor if I did do a sale, I get a sense that whenever you lot a series of pages as opposed to break them apart with individual solicitations, the lots usually command lower price per pg averages and the single sale offerings do the best.

I have Preacher #52 pages 12-15, and thought the valuation was about $1k per page +/-.

In the spirit of this thread, I have to recommend that you sell 'em all and upgrade to an A-Level Preacher page.

$1K each might be a little aggressive for Tulip-only pages - Albert still had some pages from the Tulip issue at the Original Art con back in April in the $600 range (and I'd have to think Preacher was a little hotter back then before the show received a very mixed reaction).

  6. It's all subjective and a matter of opinion to what "A level" is, in the eye of the beholder.

    Typically A Level would be:

    1) A Cover page

    2) A Double Page Splash page

    3) A Splash Page

    4) Feature a 1st appearance of a recurring character

    5) Feature one or more of the main characters

    6) Be a part of an important storyline, be it a turning point, death, revelation, etc.

...and for others the "A-Level" might be influenced by price, if getting a piece at a bargain, or the less collected "dialogue" factor.

You have to change the criteria for art that's collected almost entirely because of the book's story. Your list is perfect for categorizing big-name-artist superhero pages, but not a book like Preacher IMO.

  7. Yeah this isn't a case where you can really blame the creators. Both of them are super talented hard working guys. The book kicks but the sales numbers just weren't there. Maybe with a fall relaunch it'll finally get the love it deserves.

  8. So who did Negan kill? There are 11 candidates but in reality there are only 5 possibilities: 1) Glenn, 2) Abraham, 3) Eugene, 4) Daryl, 5) Aaron.

IMO there is no chance Negan would kill a woman. Not only would it hinder his chances of getting the group to agree with his demands it would also be to brutal for TV. This means Michonne, Rosita, Maggie, and Sasha are safe. Rick and Carl are also safe. There is no chance that Kirkman would kill either of these two characters at this stage of the show. Plus Negan said if anyone moves to cut Carl’s other eye out and feed it to Rick. This implies that Rick and Carl were not killed.

This leaves the 5 candidates I mentioned above. IMO here is the order of most likely to have been killed: 1) Glenn, 2) Abraham, 3) Eugene, 4) Aaron, 5) Daryl.

I think Negan needs to kill a major character to make the audience truly hate him. Killing Aaron would not do it and I can’t see them killing Daryl. Daryl is too important to the show and AMC has invested a lot in him. If I was a betting man, and I am, I would say that it’s Glen, Abraham, or Eugene that got killed.

This is a great post. However, I don't think killing Eugene would make the audience truly hate him. The people I talk to about the show IRL would totally embrace him if he beat down the Euge.
