  1. Yeah this whole period of Marvel confuses me to no end. The Spider-Gwen series was new and at issue #5 when it stopped and now the headlines are Spider-Gwen in a new series. It already was a new series. This is just a #1 money grab IMO. 20+ variants the first time around. Whats the over/under for the new #1? 50 And I'm sure you'll be plugging your Phantom Variant in 3...2...1... I was just looking at how many phantom ASM 300 versions there and this clip came to mind. The sad part is is that's exactly what they ended up doing with the Simpsons.
  2. I agree. What if Peter Parker's parents appeared in AF14, would people be able to call that issue Peter's 1st appearance?
  3. I posted this in another thread but I'll post it here as well. 21x sigs - too many to list. This is another favorite of mine. Uncanny X-Men #171 signed by Chris Claremont and Walt Simonson.
  4. Not quite dead yet. http://www.bleedingcool.com/2015/03/20/the-death-of-donatello-not-so-fast/
  5. If he's fine in the next issue, I'll call BS. They'll either drag it out for a couple issues for him to die or find a miracle to save him.
  6. I remember them killing him off in the Image run as well. By they brought him back as a cyborg.
  7. Ha! Something told me to hold off on buying it. Sucks to be those people who paid $100+.
  8. Well said. Hastings may be among the worst when it comes to packaging. I'm done with them. Midtown has always sent books packed extremely well that were handled with care, same as Third Eye Comics and MCS (slabs). I have yet to have anything but great experiences from those sellers. I've never had a problem with Midtown, Third Eye, or MCS. All package their books like pros. I've had problems with Midtown before. I ordered 10 blank Superman Unchained and a couple had big dents and one in particular had a big dirty thumb print on the cover. I now remember getting an order from them where two of their variants were banged up. I called them and they sent replacements.

  10. Stan Lee created Gwen Stacey 50 years ago. That Gwen Stacey is dead. We have established in this thread ad nauseum that this is a "new" character that was created by Latour and Rodriguez that has nothing to do with Peter Parker's dead girlfriend. Stan Lee did not write, edit, illustrate, colour, or have anything to do with this book. So again, why have him sign it ? -J. I say the same thing about all the GOTG books I see on eBay signed by him. He has nothing to do with the series or the characters. There are people who are going to have Stan sign anything because they think that it will at hundreds of $$$ of value to the book. I'd rather have him sign something that he was involved in or an important Spider-Man book. As for Spider-Gwen books, I will not have him sign any of him. That's my
  11. I'm up to 21 sigs on this book. Thanks to everyone who's helped out on this.
  12. I just love how Chuck thinks newsstands are worth 3 times what his already overpriced direct editions are. Even a VG copy of the newstand is more than the Near Mint direct edition.
  13. Boy, people are going to be pissed if the character is changed or dropped from the movie.
  14. I picked up 3 of each cover. Getting them signed at Heroes. The same guy has two listings up, one for $19.99 and the other for $23.99.
  15. Sometimes flipping the book in the scanner might help. I use an 8250 and sometimes there is nothng you can do. Still much better than a blurry scan. Thanks! I'll give that a try. Applying light pressure to the back of the slab while scanning can also help. But with thick slabs, it's tough to avoid at least some glare. Thanks. I'll try that as well. I'm also noticing a faint white line going up the left side of all my scans. Its harder to see on the lighter covers. On my previous scan, you can see it to the left of the large pink heart going all the way up the page. Should I be concerned? Is it a used scanner? If so it's probably just wear on the inside of the scanner glass. Yeah, I got it off eBay used. I don't see any marks on the glass but there is a mark on the metal bar underneath. I've tried applying pressure on the slab to get rid of the glare with no luck. I'm too cheap to pay for VueScan so I've been using the HP Solution Center to do the scanning. For those who have used it, do you change any of the settings after the scan? On the covers with a lot of dark colors, it shows really faded. So I tried the Restore Faded Color option. The left scan is regular and the right has the restored colors.

  18. I got an HP 8250 in the mail last night. Been tinkering around with the settings. Is there a way to get rid of the glare at the top of the book?
