  1. So based on your original post we are talking about category 3 the rest. If this is a huge piece of your collection and what you want to cull the most you have lots of options. Typically I look at sold lots on Ebay to find what something sold for in any given grade. I take that amount and figure that Ebay is taking 15-20% of that amount. It may not be necessarily true, but it gives me a starting point. If you see that the bulk of your books are falling on the slightly lower side and don't seem to be worth it, take category 1 and 3 and see what your local shop or a vendor at a show will give you just to get them out of your way so you can concentrate on the nice books. Cash value will be pennies on the dollar, but most shops or vendors will give you more in trade. If you take the trade value and turn it into a lot less category 2 books and you've still left meat on the bone for the vendor and you didn't have to spend all that time on figuring out what to do with a large portion of books. If you need something to do in retirement to keep busy looking through and selling books a few at a time isn't the worst way to stay active. Basically just do what feels right and enjoy.
  2. Nice copy of the variant/second-print/missing-price&title or whatever it's called.
  3. There has to be 30 different books if not more from this signing on Ebay with prices all over the place. It will be interesting to see where the price settles in after say six months. Still waiting on my Celebrity Authentics copy to come in. Personally, just glad to have one.
  4. Picked this Planet Comics #1 from Blackthorne years ago and now with Stevens books being so hot I thought I would ask for advice on what to do with this one. Front can be a 9.8 with a press but no idea how to fix the back. Let me know what you think!
  5. I've seen a lot of artists do this. Take a look back and you can find Mark Brooks examples on Spider-Gwen for sure. It looks like they paint a splotch and then go over it with the art work.
  6. It's already the 11th of April. Do we have any idea when this announcement will be made? Something tells me they are reading through these threads to make sure they have all the t's crossed and i's dotted.
  7. I would almost take that Phoenix to a show and ask him what it would cost to have him do waist to collar bone and make it a half-body sketch. Looks great either way!
  8. Hoping that at some point I might be able to add the rest, but if not I can live with mine. Funny enough I just realized the label on mine is wrong, but I'll leave it alone. Frakes signed on 5/13 and Spiner and McFadden signed on 4/21. Congrats on a complete book!
  9. No one particular vendor, you just need to keep an eye out for what's coming out in previews or keep up with what is coming out and grab the ones that you want. A lot of online and brick and mortar places will order more and give a better price if they have the money up front. Otherwise you take the risk that someone walks in and grabs the one or two copies they probably ordered. Blanks from the beginning of the sketch cover era are hit and miss. Avengers #1 was great quality but Gen 13 #1 was pretty horrible. Most of the manufacturers have heard from enough people to know to do better these days than a glossy blank.
  10. Anyone know how this will work for those of us that ordered through Celebrity Authentics? I looked up my 9.8 pre-order and it hasn't been fulfilled yet, which isn't unexpected. I was just wondering if they would be behind all the ones sent in on other accounts.
  11. Well check mine off the list as well. I got a call from the shop and drove straight there during my lunch break. For all the wait time these really were worth it. Every bit. Thanks @CGC Mike for the updates along the way and a big thank you to Arthur Adams. Hope I can catch you at a convention soon and tell you how much I love these.
  12. I see someone has one on Ebay already with a sign date of 2/19/24
  13. I thought the same thing when I started doing Dragonball voice actor signatures. I could fork out the money to get a number one and have multiple people sign it over and over or I could get individual books that are meant for the specific voice actor's character. In the end I decided to go with the multiple books and I've been very happy with the results so far!
  14. What worries me about the books I sent in is that I sent them through a dealer in town instead of sending them in directly. Turned out my three were all that store wound up sending in. He didn't even send in any for the store. With the fact that all these being sold by a dealer, is Arthur going to see these from a dealer and not put effort into them because he thinks they are just going to be put up for re-sale? I can tell you right now that Princess Leia, Wonder Woman and Catwoman won't be leaving my collection anytime soon if they are the same quality as the others. Just crossing my fingers at this point.
  15. In the scenario you are presenting, no it doesn't mean a thing to me, but let me give you another way to look at it. Say you collect your birth month books and you want the signer to sign on your birthday to mark the occasion. I've done this several times over the years and have signatures from Neal Adams, Stan Lee, and others that were signed at conventions on my birthdate. These are literally some of my favorite books just because of the date they were signed.
  16. I have an Area 88 #1 that I want to go check to see if it has the interior of Aliens #1
  17. I sent in more than 1 but I think it would be perfectly acceptable to limit each order to one blank after this. CGC might double it's membership, lol.
  18. Nice pickup on the Wonder Woman. At one time that one was mine! She's a beauty!
  19. First signing he did I sent a Longshot 1 newsstand, came back with a 9.6 and a nice reasonable Longshot sketch. I almost sent it back for the Spiral and a press but decided not to chance it anymore than I had.
  20. Anyone know what this means for Comiclink having sold books that were misrepresented?
  21. Looks like they are all 4 at MegaCon this weekend and a couple of other shows later on like Lexington. I still have the photo covers for a few issues but this series didn't have Shannon in it so I'm trying to decide what I want to do about that.
  22. Ok so just to keep things on the first page and so on, what's the unique characters you are waiting on at this point? I guess I'm surprised I haven't seen more Spirals, but I had a hard time deciding on my characters. Looks like a lot of us had at the very least a black cat in mind.
  23. They really are awesome. I got to work a convention in Chattanooga that had DiMaggio, West and Tom and they were a lot of fun and a great panel! This is a great book!
  24. Any new examples of completed books? I feel like it helps with the wait
