  1. CBCS (for their own good) have apparently tightened their grading since. 8.5 my . That's a 7.5.....
  2. Not as high as the $17,000 shelled out for the last 9.0 (Pedigree Comics), but that's still an impressive hammer price. Looks like the book is still red hot. During the last 3-min of the Batman 121 9.0 on ComicConnect the site was down. I have screen captures showing it! They were supposed to extend the ones that were affected, but for some reason this one was not included. This was my 251, but they all ended around the same time. The site was down for about 30 min, then up, then down again. The 121 was spotty then unreachable. I was only able to get back onto it to see the 121 when the auction was over.
  3. It was a CGC 7.5 with a note of stain on front cover. It was cracked and there was no stain on the interior since it was obvious it was not on the front. That made it an 8.0. Sounds like a good idea to resubmit. I'll be rooting for you in your quest a bigger fish, 9.0? I wish I would have seen that 9.4 that recently sold.

  5. November through February have usually been softer months. At least for what I have tracked over the past 5 years.
  6. 12k without a resto/trim check . To seller who isn't familiar with comics. Definitely a gamble. I called and talked to the guy and asked if I won the auction could I inspect the book in hand before paying. I also could pay in cash if he preferred. I don't think the book is restored but I had a concern with the condition of the book being closer to a 4.0 or worse and possible coupon missing pages. He said I could pick it up in person but I had to pay for the book first through Ebay. If I had any problems I would have to file a paypal dispute as its being sold as is no returns. I said I'll pass and won't be bidding. The seller was about five hours from me and I was willing to make the trip to complete the deal. Anything over 10k and Paypal wants nothing to do with disputes. If you make any payment using multiple payments 10k limit plus let's say 5k more, Paypal protection goes out of the window. You could screw the guy and say you never received it if it was a Paypal transaction. Either the guy is pretty ignorant to this 10k limit or that he could have someone file a never received claim or he knows it very well and is waiting for someone to take the bait.
  7. +1 My thoughts precisely. -J And knowing this, I will bid accordingly and be calling Metro the next day if I snag it.
  8. What happened to 105 being the book to own? It's impossible to get in higher grades.
  9. That's not a 9.4. I guess it can sit next to that Avengers 1 in 9.6. That Avengers 1 took a hit with the pricing of a 9.4. I'm thinking the same with this book. Someone with that kind of $ is going to buy the book and not that little sticker. I've seen 9.6s with some foxing; pre-1965. This book has 3 rounded corners. One of the corners has chipping. Foxing on the left and right edges and I am also assuming it's actually an ow/w with the darker foxed pages towards the edges and not a straight ow. I don't like the staple placement. For about 350k I would find a nicer looking book and wait for one not just recently graded to show up on the market. I'm going to bet $250k on this one just because it's Heritage. If I would have seen a 9.0 sticker on it, I wouldn't have looked twice at grade accuracy. My X-Men 1 graded a few years ago (Sids Diner one) was a 9.0 and looked better in the slab. Did it get a 9.4 because CGC doesn't count chipping or foxing? How do they explain the rounded corners? Is it a 9.4 with crappy eye appeal for the grade? Why is CGC recently pumping out uber high grade books that are obviously not the grade? What they are going to do is damage the market because people will only see that a book that once sold for X dollars dropped 100k. Only a handful of lunatics actually track books and micro analyze them like we do here and know why a book was pounded at market.
  10. Belongs to a boardie. The story on that one was a cover stain in the CGC notes that made it a 7.5. Cracked open and guess what, no stains on either sides of the front and back cover. Pages were OW on the outer parts but whiter towards the inner= ow/w. It was originally purchased from a drug store in Pleasant Lake, IN. Stuck in a box, dragged through college, and someone told the OO that bought it off the rack that it may be worth something. He contacted Rob at CC and he told him how to get it graded. That was the 7.5 sale about a year ago. It's an 8.0. It's a solid book with no chipping and NO STAINS. That's the only book I ever had resubbed because it was that obvious it was undergraded. . But why the resub with CBCS as opposed to CGC? If the book was obviously mis-graded take a chance and get it re-slabbed. I do not understand why not go with CGC again however. If CBCS generally realizes lower prices the CGC 8.0 is going to be worth more $$$. So when you sell it as a CBCS 8.0 and get the same price as a CGC 7.5 was the second grading worth it. If I gave my list of reasons I would be blocked for a week. It's a solid book in hand.

  12. About a half hour left and we will know Move along, move along, no one missed anything... $1757
  13. Insane.... 0.5 is a gift grade on that!
  14. I keep staring at the sale of that 9.0 on GPA thinking the guy was a genius.
  15. Heritage usually brings in higher prices. I would say 56-58K, but the seller will be hosed with fees to the point of regret.
  16. I regret not being the one that bought it....
  17. I sold a TMNT 9.8 white in 2014 for 17.5k. I have another one that I'm holding. GPA doesn't reflect all sales.
  18. Piece done by Neal Adams with the comic nearby
  19. Registration on these 9.8s is impossible!
  20. And being cream paged may have held it back a little. I didn't think it would break 20, then 25, and it closed at almost 30.
