  1. Steve's blood falls into the river. Giant Carp drinks up the blood as it hits the river. CARPtain America VS Godzilla: 2017
  2. In the last year I have found a CF for my Cap 1 (to complete it), and have now found a front cover to my Supe 1. Life is good! Now I just need to find a CF for my AS8 And obviously if I can find a back cover to my Supe 1... I may actually poop in my pants.
  3. I've been meaning to take a new photo of my 7.0 pence copy for a while now (the photo I've been using is horrible). I was at the bank yesterday and remembered to bring my camera, so I got it out of the safety deposit box and snapped a few photos. I clearly haven't mastered the fine art of photographing slabbed comics, but I think it's better than my last photo. The colors are amazing on this AF15. And look at that free edge.
  4. I never ever thought I'd be a member of this club. I have a very modest collecting income, so being able to join an elite club like this is pretty exciting for me. I've had a coverless Supe 1 for about 7 years now and basically never thought I'd be able to add a cover. You may have seen the cover on ebay a few weeks ago. I decided to make (what I consider) a low ball offer, and he went for it. The cover actually is quite nice. It's slightly faded in the reds. It has a few minor tears. The inside of the cover has a couple glue marks but it is not glue that is sealing anything, I think it is glue from where the cover was mounted on a backing board (in a frame, which is where this was) or in a scrapbook at one time. Maybe one of you guys can tell me how CGC handles glue that is not sealing a tear. The cover does not appear to be trimmed except on the spine. Again, would one of you guys tell me how CGC handles a spine cut. To me that shouldn't be be a plod like a top or side trim. I would imagine the original owner either cut off the back cover to pin up on the wall, or the front cover to pin up on the wall. To me, I couldn't have asked for a nicer looking .5
  5. I'm shocked at how many boardies are choosing the 1st option. I'm also shocked at how many boardies are choosing the last option.
  6. I publish my own children's books, and it costs a lot of money. It's going to cost $15,000 for my next one. I'm a little short, so.... I looked over my collection and thought about what I could part with to raise some money. Archie 3, 4, 7, & 8. Unfortunately none of my Archie's sold on ebay, so I might bring them all back here and discount the prices even more. BTW... if you want a cute book for your kids (preK up to 5th grade) check out: www.whatsinmypocket.net and www.whostolemyhomework.net The books are only $10 plus shipping and they're quality books. I have kids & moms email me constantly to tell me how much they love my books.
  7. Selling my Archie 3, 4, 7, 8 on ebay check em out. Auction end today. http://www.ebay.com/sch/Golden-Age-193855-/66/m.html?_ipg=50&_sop=12&_ssn=gadzukes
  8. It's not a bad looking .5, but at that price..... man that's a lot to spend.
  9. Anyone have a fairly educated guess as to how much an unrestored Supe 1 missing the back cover would go for? Would that be a .5 or a 1.0?
  10. 8.0 sold for $5000 on ebay last night. It looks legit. That's "only" $1850 more than the average of the 12 recorded 8.0s that sold last year. If there was any question about DD 1 being hot hot hot, the question has now been answered. http://www.ebay.com/itm/CGC-8-0-DAREDEVIL-1-1ST-APPEARANCE-SILVER-AGE-MARVEL-COMIC-BOOK-KIRBY-COVER-/361210735221?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item5419d66a75
  11. Has the show gotten any better since the first few episodes? I lost interest early on. Is it worth coming back to now?
  12. Seth, Sam, Goldberg....... please don't mess with this story too much. Don't try to put too much of your "special sauce" on it. It's a great story, just go with it.
  13. If anyone's interested I just put up my Archie 7 & 8 in the sales thread. Both CGC 2.5s. hate to let em go but I need some money for something. I'm also putting up a coverless low grade (missing cf) Archie 2 on ebay tonight http://boards.collectors-society.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=8380577#Post8380577
  14. In the "Top 10 Silver Thread" Avengers 1 is getting more than twice as many votes as Avengers 4. I think that says a lot as to how the majority of collectors feel. In that poll Avengers 4 and Daredevil 1 are basically neck & neck. Does that seem about right? http://boards.collectors-society.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=8370573&nt=8&fpart=1
  15. Here's my ticket to the club. That giant white line (and all the other small white lines) is a color touch removal. I think if the original owner would have left it alone it would have probably been a 5.5. I still like it.
  16. Just got this. I'm not really a duck collector, but couldn't pass this one up. This is a tough one to come by right? Just in case you've never see the inside... here's a cool splash page from the interior.
  17. Beautiful book! Thoughts on what it would take to purchase a 9.9 copy of this book (not asking about your copy just a copy in general)? I'd like to know the answer to that too. I know what I paid for it but I think I want to keep that private for now (quite a bit more than a 9.8). GPA doesn't have any sales info for a 9.9. If Doomsday is a reality for the movie, and more than just a 30 second cameo, then I think all of these Doomsday comics are going to get a nice bump. And my 9.9.....? I want one of the other owners to test the market.
  18. Here's my ticket. I thought I had joined already but didn't see my name on the list. I thought I would be in rarified air with a 9.2, but then I looked at the census. There are 43 on the census in 9.2. That's gotta be the most for any Marvel Silver Key.
  19. Beautiful book ruined with scribble. Ouch! Why someone would intentionally damage a book like that is beyond me... That's actually a nice modest Stan Lee signature. I like it, and I'm not a big SS guy. It's Stan's "thick marker" "end of the day" signatures that I don't like.
  20. When you look at this cover you usually focus on the Nazi executioner & the girl. I always thought the Nazis in the background were just surrendering with there arms in the air. BUT LOOK CLOSER!!! My God there's body parts flying all over the place! Close up Even closer
  21. I sold my low grade copy of this last year and immediately regretted it. So I picked up this one. Nice looking copy.
  22. Nice copy! At first glance you look right at the missing color on the left side and wince a little, but then you look at the right side...WOW, the right half of that book is high grade. To me, that's a VERY desirable 3.0. You did well. How does the back look?
  23. I feel the time is appropriate to show off this bad boy again. The last time I posted this photo (about a year ago?) I think there were about 800 total MOS18s on the census with about 500 of them graded 9.8. At that time only 5 were graded 9.9. Since then another 300 9.8s have been graded (an explosion of 9.8s). And there are now 1375 total MOS18s on the census. However, to my delight, ZERO 9.9s have been added to the census.
  24. I just picked up and read the TPB "Secret War" so I could find out more about Skye/Daisy/Quake. I thought it was a really good read for anyone who wants to pick it up. One of those "painted" comics. Daisy is a cocky young badass in the story (kind of like Skye is in AOS). I like the costume they gave her in the comic. I wonder if they'll give her something like that for the show. The other thing I got from that story...... the SHIELD part of the plot could work for future episodes of AOS. The Superhero part of the plot would have to be altered quite a bit (They use many A-list Marvel Superheroes in the Plot). I wonder how much "price" movement we'll see on Issue 2 from that series? Just so you know... she is introduced briefly in issue 2 (mostly through written exposition in the back), but really has her full presence in issue 5. In other words... Issue 2 is her "Hulk 180" and issue 5 is her "Hulk 181".
  25. I think it's worth between $5000 and $5500. You did well if you're the one who bought it for $2000 2 years ago.
