If a person is going to collect these Doomsday related Superman comics, what's the run down of "must have" in order of importance?

Value-wise is MOS 18 at the top, then MOS 17? And is the 1st printing the most valuable of each one? Or is it the last printing?

It looks faded at first glance, but then if you look at the guy on the left... he is bright green in the correct version but bright blue in the weird version. I'm not sure that fading changes bright green into bright blue.

When did coverless AF15s start going for $1725? I just saw this completed auction on ebay and couldn't believe it.

Now we know what an original art page from Archie 1 goes for. $13,145

I bid about half of that knowing I would be outbid, but still hoping there was a chance I could snag it.

It was really difficult to know how high this was going to go since there aren't really any comps for a piece like this.

What do you think of these prices?

$16,730 for the Archie 1 2.0 on Heritage.

I guess that fits right in with what these have been going for. It reinforces the strong prices instead of making any of them look like an aberration.

I remember it was only something like 3 years ago when there were virtually no sales records of Archie 1s so it was really hard to pin point value. The grades are starting to fill out now on GPA. This was the 1st 2.0 that GPA has recorded.

I have ZERO faith that the book is a 6.5. I'm guessing a 5.0 at best, and a purple label with CGC. Any thoughts?

That is my thought. I don't have #50 yet but I'm not even going to waste my time on that one since my offer would be less than half of what he's got it listed at.

I loved it. Kept my interest through the whole episode.

The Deathlok reveal at the end was awesome.

Regarding who would get the coverless 7 ... , That's a good question. I'd like to think that I'm big enough to let it go for a fair price. I hope someone would do the same for me with an Archie 8 cover. What does this group think has more value, the cover, or coverless insides?

 

I've always thought that covers have more value than complete coverless copies.

 

 

Fantastic #9 Andrew, I wonder what grade this would pull. The CGC census shows an 8.0 as the highest and then a 6.5 as second highest. You think this would fall between those two?

So when an Archie enthusiast shows up needing a cover for his coverless Archie 7... who wins, you or him?

And what does NM and Nevada (where they also tested the A-bomb) have in common?

 

Answer: There are NO Saguaro cactus in either of those states, yet they are on the cover of the book...maybe that's why schools didn't buy many of them. The publisher couldn't get his geography right...

you are SO right! My folks still live in NM and they get really upset when they see Saguaros associated with newMexico. Thanks goodness Breaking Bad didn't ever make that mistake.

Anyone on here was bidding or even won the Archie Comics #1 at the Proxibid auction today? Book looks to be in the Fair condition. Sold for $8250. Pretty strong price. Auction had some other nice books as well.

$8250! That's a steal!!! They could flip it on heritage or even ebay and probably make a $4000 profit.

Interesting how some Archie 1s are starting to pop up. I wonder how many we'll see this year. Always cool to see the new ones like this.

My dad grew up in Carrizosa New Mexico near where they blew up the 1st atomic bomb. These covers make me think of him. He would have been about the age of this boy when they tested that 1st A-bomb. Still to this day you can be driving by on the highway and they're blowing stuff up out on the White sands missile base.
