Anyone want to hazard a guess as to what a hulk 1 , missing back cover and bottom 3rd of fc (rest of cover is 2.0 land) is worth?
I bought something similar to what your describing for $750 about 6 months ago.

Got these back today. Bought them all (except Archie 3) off the counter of a LCS in Flint Mich where they had just been brought in by the OO's family. Great Deal, I'm super happy.

With the great Sparkle City auction that just ended I figured it was time to dust off the Archie 1 CLUB thread.
SO many amazing prices on Archie comics in that SS auction.
1 CGC 6.5 = $63,000
2 CGC 4.0 = $8600
4 CGC 3.5 = $2200
8 CGC 3.0 = $1200

No, and you likely won't get any for a while. We've got Cap, GotG, and Ant-Man in there somewhere that will be coming out first and then (I think) we'll get Avengers 3 the following year. This flick won't be until after that so that's a loooooooooooong ways off. We're just getting Avengers casting news this week.
And yet we've had such a huge run up on ST110 prices. With almost NO movie production info whatsoever. Surely prices on this will flatline for a while.
I did notice Antman is starting to get more and more casting news. I think I saw a quote today that it would be fully cast by the end of the year.
People realize that Dr Strange is not another Antman. Strange will not be there for comic relief in between the major movies of the phase. Rather, the Strange movie will be the center piece of Marvel's third phase, as Feige has said. The third phase will be the magical phase. It fits in with the Harry Potter and Twilight crowd and I think it is likely to become immensely popular. People want to get in on this before prices get out of reach. Also, if someone is looking for the next AF15 and wondering what it could be.. then perhaps Ditko and Stan's other major character besides Spider-man could be a good choice.
When I saw what they could do with "magic" as far as CG in movies like Harry Potter and LOTR I knew that Doctor Strange could be a huge hit. It has huge potential especially if Marvel is making it the centerpiece of phase 3.
I still have fingers crossed for Antman but I think it's more of the wild card of the Marvel movies.

Anyone watching the CGC 9.6 on Heritage's Signature auction at the moment?
It's sitting on $28,000, I'll be very curious to see where it finishes.
$39,000 and counting..
Final bid: $44,812.50!
If the movie goes well, that will look like a bargin price very quickly.
Any new news on the movie? Has a director been announced? This one never seems to get any news.

I guess today is my lucky day. Another Submission is at "Shipped" status.
They received my Economy submission on 8/14 and it shipped today. 70 business days total.
That's a loooong time. 3 1/2 months total time (including weekends)
I'm a little disappointed with these two.
Hulk 5 got a Blue 4.0 (i thought it would get 5.0)
Hulk 6 got a Blue 5.0 (I thought it would get 6.0)
.They will look nice with my Hulk 1 5.0. I guess I'm obligated to get Hulk 2-4 in mid grade now.

Really nice spine and nice overall but I didn't realize a 7.0 could have that big of a visible crease.
How'd that get up to $5500?
Of course I have a ST 110 9.0 with a tiny crease too so I shouldn't complain.
lots of high grade copies (talking 9.4 range) with lots of wear on em including multiple corner creases etc. Seems like CGC is light on this book for whatever reason.
Here's my 9.0 & 8.0. I love em both and am super happy I have them, but the tiny crease on the 9.0 really shows against the black background. The flash photo makes it look worse than it is in hand. It's otherwise an gorgeous comic.
Well I was going to post my CGC 4.0 but why bother now.

Been very slow, still waiting for stuff to arrive, but was very happy with some of my grades.
Superman 14 8.5
When you get a grade like that on a book like that it's easy to be forgiving on the speed of the process.
Congrats on an amazing book.
I remember getting upset last year about how long it was taking to get my Hulk 1 back. I had it pegged for a 4.0 and then when I got it it was a 5.0 blue. All was forgiven.

Anyways, as you know, I will be a proud member of the Hulk 1 club as soon as this ebay 2.0 Arrives!! WOOHOO!! This has by far been the toughest of the marvel keys for me to find in the grade I want.

Wow, that seems like a strong price to me. Makes me think about trying to get the resto removed from my copy. Not that I plan on selling it....just would enjoy it more with a blue label.

Would a spine split removed still give the book a 2.5?
If it's a full spine split I think you would get a 1.0 Blue label if you removed the resto.
Maybe a resubmit would work better. They might give you a 2.5 Blue label with "notes".
Is it tape sealing the splits?

A 1.8 sold for $3600 a couple weeks ago.
The last three 2.0s sold in the $2400 - $2600 range, but there was one 2.0 that sold for $4263 a year ago.

bcc, the 3 comics he cracked open and regraded all looked undergraded by cgc.
DJBrady only shows the front covers on his auctions so I wonder if there's damage on the back covers. Do you remember?
I guess part of his methodology is to look over hundreds of slabs with an eye for good "front cover" appeal. To me, looking at his pics, the JIM 83 & the DD 1 look like they could actually pass for the grades he gave them (which makes me think they must have flawed back covers), the Hulk 1 he's selling doesn't come close to a 7.0, but it looks like it could be a 5.0 or 5.5 judging from the front cover.
If you have pics of the 3 comics in their CGC slabs I would love to see them, especially the back covers.
BTW.... I am SO grateful for these boards educating me about crooks like Djbrady.
