  1. Now/s the time to sell pulps, before the bubble on them pops like the graded video game market bubble popped. I actually can appreciate pulps but the hype being pushed on them is just like what was done with graded video games and the novelty with hype is driving prices thru the roof. For a guy who's only been dealing comics for under 5 years, Ryan's analysis on comic market trends and pricing is as good as my own, and IMHO, virtually any other dealer on the forums.
  2. Around a 5.5-6.0, as is. Make sure you pay for a standard press, this book has a lot of indents and finger bends that'll require spot work. I'd expect anywhere from a 6.5 to 8.0 after a C/P. Hard to be more definitive as the pics of the back cover have glare on the area with the biggest possible grade limiting drawback (to the left of the Spaulding logo on the boottom of the BC). Worst case scenario is a 6.5 after a clean and press, as long as the presser does the resquisite spot work needed....I see a lot of indents and finger bends all over the book.
  3. if CGC actually starts offering pre-screens for 9.9 and 10's, the demand for 9.8's , particularly in BA thru MA books, will be signifigantly hit. Any dealer or even collector of such CGC 9.8's should be on the phone to CGC customer service with their dealer account or associate account number in hand, and telling the CGC reps they will be forced to take their business to Voldemort if a CGC 9.9 / CGC 10 prescreen is introduced. As ridiculous as that may sound, as we all know Voldemort 9.8's of comparable books fetch around half the price of comparable CGC 9.8's..... it will not be the least bit funny when the market for CGC 9.8's (think ASM McFarlane's Miller DD's and so on) is looked upon with the drop in FMV from a 9.8 to 9.6...or dang close to that drop..... The only scenario where a CGC 9.9 and CGC 10 prescreen would not negatively impact the back issue comic market would be one that is for brand new exclusives sent to comic shops, from the printer....as was shown in the CGC 9.9 and 10 grading video of a Mighty Morphn Power Rangers store exclusive this past month. I would be fine with that sort of CGC 9.9/10 pre-screen i.e. only for brand new modern store exclusives shipped to CGC directly after printing. This video from Joe at Top Comics Pressing discusses this issue, and Automatic Comics has made similiar analysis in recent videos he's put out concerning the possibility of CGC 9.9/s/10's WRT the CGC 9.8 back issue market. As has Swagglehouse, for that matter. If you read the comments in any of their videos on this subject, virtually everyone is saying the same this same thing. Ryan (AutomaticComics) pointed this out in one of his videos on this subject, as well. I urge all submitters to call CGC and have your customer account number on hand . Please watch this video, I'll add that I am not Top Comics Pressing nor am I Automatic Comics or SwaggleHouse:
  4. Agreed. The GSXM 1 also has signifigant cover overhang at the top RC of the FC and a corresponding sized gap which exposes the bottom right (starting around the middle of the bottom FC to the bottom RC of the FC) at the bottom RC of the FC. This looks to me like SRS. Maybe it is, maybe it isn't.
  5. Seeing a post like this makes me really want to post up pics of my tougher DCU's.... In any event, I know how much time you put into scouring for DCU's, given how much time I've put into them over since I really upped my game on looking for DCU's. F for respect, as the kids say

  10. Yes, indeed. Based on the MCS graders' notes, the FC scan and knowing how MCS purposefully undergrades books to avoid returns, I would estimate the grade of this book at around 6.5 Universal, NOT accounting for the 3.5" cumulative spine split along the cover detachment. The most eye glaring defect I can see is what looks like a small chip out of the spine located at the bottom of the "B" in "BRADY". I pulled up the scan to see that better and screenshot it at 146%, see the attached image below. What initially looks like a small chip out of the spine at said location is actually a bent over tear to the cover's spine cover, which would be an aspect of the MCS graders note of 3.5" cumulative spine split to the cover & detached cover. The exposed interior side of the cover at that tiny bent back tear is pretty close to white to my eyes. which I read as a trace amount of distilled water on a q-tip applied to that area, than holding that bend back in its original position for 15 seconds between one's thumb and finger....than bagging and boarding the back, would result in replacing that bent tear back into position on the cover's spine, removing the eye sore. MCS graders' notes on the other GD 2.0 copy of theirs in stock at $50, denote something along the line sof oxidation. No such MCS graders notes are present on this copy in auction. Taking ALL into account, I'd estimate the grade of this book to most likely a Universal 4.0. See Conan Saunders' posts in the MyComicShop consignment feedback thread on this board for a description on the why/how/what concerning MCS graders' notes, if you're not very familiar with MCS grading. Here's an example:
  11. Haha, well played. I didn't think it was very likely to be from some sort of pedigree collection. I did compare it to about the first 80% of pictures in a search results showing CGC recognized pedigree collections, I had two books in my Beinfang to take out while looking thru the pictures of CGC recognized pedigree collections....than gave up searching said pictures.
  12. Probably a 7.0, as is.Maybe even a 6.5. But an 8.0/8.5 is pressed. The top RC and bottom RC of the FC looks like impact bends , some break color, some dont. i....but I see full book bending in both of those areas. You'll get hammered for that. Stacking curl along the spin is also pressable, but not nearly as big of a limiting defect at the exterior cormer impact bends. It sounds like you just subbed it. I'd call CGC and ask them to pull it for pressing at CCS, unless you don;t care if you get a 6.5're just subbing it for sentimental reasons.
  13. I have 19 books listed individually in MyComicShop's weekly auction this week, all of which are going off for peanuts, as I type this. Here's a copy/paste of a list of all nineteen book in auction from my MCS consignment account hub, with bids current as of 9:31 PM All of these auctions end on Monday night, 3/25. https://www.mycomicshop.com/auctions Batle Brady $14 may be a pedigree book, if it's not it's a solid 3.0/3.5 from CGC, only other available copy in listed on MCS at $50.00.....current bid is $6.00. Betty And Me 40 has a shower sex innuendo panel and isunder graded at 4.0, book is a solid 6.0 and is at less than the $7.00 MCS base commision fee per book hhhhh. Jughead 78 is a Frankenstien cover & story, undergraded at 3.6, it's a 5.0 from CGC, all day long. Ghost Rider #22 is a 1:10 variant from 2008, it typically sells at aroud $40-$60 in raw VF...the MCS auction copy is graded at a 6.0, I put it at a 8.5 from CGC. HIgher if dry cleaned and pressed, easily a 9.2 or higher. Current bid price is ONE DOLLAR. Only other available copy on MCS is a 9.6 at $199.99. Witchblade #128 SDCC variant..... is an easy 8.5, 2 out of 3 recorded sales were around $50. Only copy on eBay is $150. I could go on, but what's the use....... 14. https://www.mycomicshop.com/search?ItemID=60464722 I picked this up from mycomicshop In February and had them hold it for consignment, they have another copy graded at 2.0, so my copy wasn't mirrored on eBay. I probably should have posted about this book earlier, the auction ends in less than 2 days.... Does anyone know if the notation on the front cover in the the trade dress is indictive of a pedigree collection? The marking looks like an "L" to me, second guess is an "A". I've attached the MCS FC scan and an enlarged screen grab of the area of the front cover with the notation written on it. Mycomicshop shows my purchase of this book in 2/2024 as the only other recorded sale of a copy of Battle Brady #14 at MyComicShop.com. https://www.mycomicshop.com/search?ItemID=60310010 They currently have another copy of this book listed, without any such notation on the cover, also graded at 2.0 and priced at $50.00. https://www.mycomicshop.com/search?IID=7058131 Both of these books look like 3.0/3.5's to me, FWIW. But if you regularly buy from MCS, you know they purposely under grade to keep eBay complaints and/or returns to a minimum.
