  1. I don't believe anyone has quantified the health of the overall GA market. Anecdotal musings suggest it has either improved, remained the same, or declined albeit significantly less than have later era books. So a decline in Promise books comparable to overall SA decline- it's bad and being GA has not saved it. To me it just means these books are now selling for what they should have originally sold for.
  2. They look like an interesting (at least cheaper) alternative to the oft-discussed safe. If some are both Fire and Water -proof, I guess the question is assuming books inside cannot breathe, would you have the same problems as the safe?
  3. I didn't bid on or follow any GA Superhero, but I was blown out of the water on all of my 20 GA bids. And these were simply "I'd like to own that" not "gotta have it." How did SA and BA fare?
  4. I’ve bought and sold on Clink. A lot. been mostly buying last 2 years. Most buys are auction wins. I pay what the winning bid is. I pay with check to avoid the 3% “buyer’s premium” which is essentially a CC surcharge. i frequently have Spencer hold books until I accumulate 8-10 books. They end up charging me an amount for shipping where I’m sure they’re not making money on shipping. Just email Spencer to hold books and also note it in your mailing with check. I’ve had nothing but great service for as long as I can remember. So IMO it can’t be much simpler and cheaper. As for clunky website, yeah it could be better and I don’t get the vitriol; it’s not that bad I think some folks (esp techies) are simply annoyed at Clink’s indifference to what they perceive as an easy upgrade. No idea how Canada complicates shipping.
  5. I agree that it is increasingly harder to buy collections cheaply, due to the stiff competition and multiple venues of sale. However, I'd be curious to hear from owners of brick and mortar stores of various sizes how frequently they are offered collections, and for what % of resale. I don't know but it seems that having a store still gives you the best opportunity to buy books at a cost that is not too close to FMV.
  6. How has this con been for dealers/attendees in the past? Is it more comics selling/buying, or exhibitors/cosplay? Will the site be providing a list of comic dealers attending?
  7. Daredevil #3 just climbed towards the top of my want list.
  8. Most of the HG Planets (but not the Promise #36) that just concluded on CL auction were submitted by same person. Hammer prices seemed decent. Just curious if it was a boardie(?)
  9. It was quite good. Good attendance. Every dealer I spoke to said they did well, most very well.
  10. From a business standpoint, not worth the time or even the money to board such books. If you move them around a lot you’ll get some damage over time. Many I’ve had for 35 years are fine, but several also have some light creasing or spine ticks from mostly bending in the box. If you’re careful, they should be fine. if you have time and you like the books for your collection, go ahead and board.
  11. I don’t fish in that pond (uber keys) but I do sense that for many books folks are beginning to consider restored when they previously would not. Books with minor resto (esp small amount of color touch) in mid grade seem cheap at about one third to one half of unrestored price, and I think that spread is shrinking. Also, if the minor resto on say a 6.0 can be reversed, resulting in a blue label 4.0, that restored book priced below a blue 4.0 looks attractive. I personally have bought more restored books in the last year than I did the prior 30 years. I’ve changed my valuation of certain types of restored books and have no problem pulling the trigger, esp on HTF GA.
  12. 75. Someone with better search skills than me can find it. Maybe it was as long as 5 years ago, not sure, but I remember distinctly thinking how little people appreciate SS and that the availability of this book must just be too great.
  13. I love Surfer and love this book but its supply is huge; the recent prices on this book boggle the mind. A few years ago (3?) I remember a raw legitimate VG FF48 lingering for weeks here on the boards for $75. That reflected its supply.
