  1. 6 months to grade a book is crazy. We are now getting closer to it taking 12 months than to it taking one. In the 1800's it only took 12 months to send your laundry to China from San Franscisco. I never thought i'd be giving away my comics for 6+ months
  2. The books I submitted on 4/23 were marked scheduled for grading today.113 buisness days. Economy. I took the Aussies advice and called monday. She told me they were doing early april & couldn't be more specific
  3. what if your lcs was sending bogus books and keeping yours
  4. I've had an order stuck in verification for quite a while now. CGC received my comics on 4/23/12. At the time I submitted them the turn around was 100 days. I see it's now at 110. Can any body tell me what month or invoice numbers are being returned right now. Thanks
  5. Will Archie become the longest running title ever I'm a goldenage M L J collector. I like M L J because they have the most violent super heroes: The Comet; The Hangman; Black Hood. And the hottest girls: Betty & Veronica; Suzie. And the funniest guys: Archie & Jughead. The only current comics I buy are Archie titles so I really don't have a lot to look forward to on wedensdays. Usualy I get one new comic a week. There are only six current Archie series titles. I have a box at Things From Another World and they have a monthly news letter. What I read in it today blew my mind. I just read that D.C. will be renumbering all their comics. Do you know what this means to me? I'll tell you. Out of the three titles that have survived since the goldenage: Detective; Batman; Archie ( Action stopped in '86 & started again in '87). Archie is set to stand alone as the only comic that has survived since it's inception in the 1940's. This is a great day for me. I never thought in my wildest dreams that D.C. would reboot Detective Comics. To be honest I think it's scacrilage. I didn't have a problem with Archie being second to Batman. That's pretty good company to be in. But I'll take it. As of 9/7/2011 Archie will be the sole survivor of the goldenage of comic books. Archie is now poised to be the only comic in the history of the world to have honestly earned it's 1000th issue. This is a glorious day for this M L J fanboy. All I can do now is pray. Pray that the folks at Archie comics don't do anything stupid like rebooting Archie and pray I live long enough to buy Archie 1000 from my local comic shop. If my calculations are correct it should be somewhere around the year 2042. I will be 74.
  6. 52 days and Today is day 52 and my comics are in,economy, verificatin limbo. I check my order status at least twice a day and nothing every changes. When they change to scheduled for grading i'm going to have a party. I'm thinking that it has to be because dealers flooded CGC so they can take freshly graded books to San Diego. Or maybe it's the solar flares. Submission 1 was received on 4/18. Submission 2 on 5/31. There is a 1456 differance in the submission numbers. I guess it just shows that no matter how bad it gets, there is nothing on earth as awesome as comic books. To see old comments for this Journal entry, click here. New comments can be added below.
  7. Marvels systematic plagarism of comics I just read the Stan Lee interview in Maxim #163 and I'm so sick of his B.S. I'm not trying to say he hasn't done great things for comics but let's try and stick to the facts. In the interview Stan says he dosen't remember any other heroes fighting nazis other than Captain America during the '40's. I guess The Shied slipped his mind. The first patriotic superhero, introduced 15 months before Cap.I belive that is why Cap carries a shield. MLJ had numerous other characters fighting the axis. The Hangman fought Captain Nazi for several issues. Captian Flag, Steel Sterling, Captain Commando all did battle against the nazis as well. In the '60's they swipped the idea for Cyclops from the Comet. Jack Cole invented the idea of laser eyes and ruby lenses in PEP COMICS #1. Speaking of Mr.Coles creations, let's not forget Plastic-Man. Published 20 years before Mr.Fantastics first apperance. The most blatant is the way they stole everything from Superman and gave it to spider-man. Both charaters are weaklings and wear glasses when not in costume. They both work for a newspaper. They both have aged parental figures and are both chasing girls out of their alter egos league. The biggest difference is Superman was created more than 20 years before Spider-man and that Stan Lee has taken all the credit. I think what happened was that when the guys at marvel saw how well the resurection of super-heroes was going for D.C. and Archie's Mighty Comics Titles Stan Lee & Jack Kirby went into their collection of goldenage books and took everything they could that was no longer under copyright restrictions. This is the same type of thing that happened when Bob Kane took credit for evrything that ever was created in Batman back in the late '80's when the batman movies were released and Batman blew up. I think it's sad. I thought Stan would have been classier than this. I hope sometime before he dies he can remember that he didn't invent comic books. He wrote dialogue for them. There were alot of other guys that did great things in this industry that will never get the recognition they deserve. To me the bottom line is, Stan Lee needs to start droping some names and give some credit where credit is due or in my eyes he'll never be more than a dialogue man who was to ashamed of himself to use his real name in print.
