  1. Here's a link to that auction with final prices. Lots of White Mountain pedigrees mixed in, and some pretty high-end books sold. Potter & Potter Auction
  2. Absolutely, I hope they got a big raise. Pure marketing genius.
  3. In the case of Fiction House, I believe that it thrived off the popularity of its "big six" titles. Jumbo, Jungle, Fight, Wings, Rangers, and Planet Comics, with the first five being primarily war and jungle-themed titles. Once the popularity of these main titles waned after WWII and horror and crime gained popularity I don't think the company was able to pivot and come out with a popular horror or crime title to successfully produce enough profit to remain viable. However, it appears they may have tried with the introduction of the Ghost title and The Spirit, but it wasn't enough to compete with the fantastic gorry covers of EC and others. Just my two cents.
  4. Thanks, I was about to post that as I was looking through the dates at MCS as well. Seems like Fiction House was putting out pulps every other month at that time, and Planet #65 was the only comic released in 1951. It appears in 1952 and 53 they released comics quarterly before they stopped the title altogether. Odd that #65 was the only release of the entire year in 1951.
  5. Are you sure the publication date is correct for the pulp? I feel like the comic was published before that.
  6. Kinda favors Yondu from Guardians of the Galaxy.
  7. I've been wanting this issue since the moment I first saw it. Planet has so many great covers, but this is one of my favorites.
  8. I'm always a huckleberry for 75-year-old white page Fiction House books, especially if they are bondage or GGA covers.
  9. More gorgeous ladies from the pages of Fiction House. This time from the Wings Comics title. I think the run in the Wings title from about #82 up has some of the best GGA art in the Fiction House library if not the GA overall.
  10. More fabulous Fiction House babes arrived this afternoon. Cross-posted in Fiction House thread.
  11. Wow! Thanks for reviving this great thread. Posting my recent acquisitions here to have them under one thread.
  12. Probably my favorite Wings cover, and possibly one of my favorite Fiction House covers overall. Wings #91 Classic Bondage Cover from Bob Lubbers.
  13. Recent addition. X-Posted in Fiction House thread.
  14. I guess that means at least one of us has good taste. The Rangers #26 you just posted is on my list too! I have another fiction house coming today, if it's on your list maybe we should play the Powerball together.
  15. Here ya go RM. Arrived today, Rangers #15 girl tied to the front of a tank (bondage cover). Cover art by Art Saaf. Fiction House also did something similar on Fight #24 about a year earlier with a Zolnerwich cover.
  16. You forgot best "rack" in the Golen Age, although Dagar 14 is a close second.
  17. Keeping the Fiction House bondage theme going with my newest arrival, Fight #44. Fiction House seemed to have a fetish for putting girls on these water wheels. Does anyone have this raw, and wouldn't mind showing the decapitation and lingerie panels?
  18. New arrival today! Fight #44. X-posted in Fiction House thread.
  19. Another GGA/Bondage cover arrived today. Strange Worlds #5 from Avon 1951. Wally Wood / Joe Orlando Cover.
  20. Great Books! The Rangers #62 cover always makes me think Firehair is putting a Stone Cold Stunner on that Indian Chief.
  21. I have a Rangers on the way I think you'll like. I'll keep it a secret until it gets here.
  22. I may start a new collecting category "Big Bazookas". I would love to see that credited on a CGC label.
