submitted mine at dragoncon and just got them back. my comic WAS switched. the one i submitted was easily a 8.5, or 8.0 at least. i was grade a 6.5. my comic had a small blemish on front cover, this comic did not have that! like others have said you have to contact them to get them to do anything. good luck with yours!!!!!! brad mullis............
This customers book absolutely was not switched out. He is unhappy with the grade because he feels it should of graded higher. It's impossible to replicate an autograph exactly on another book. As mentioned when you messaged us on facebook, simply compare your photos and it will be clear it is your book. We never have or will switch out a book.
As for turnaround times with us, we have a heavy travel schedule with Stan and submission times take longer than we would like. But as others have mentioned, we are slow but you will absolutely get your books back. Feel free to drop by our shop if you have any questions or concerns.

Just in from CGC today:

Finally! Able to see my J Scott Campbell SS books from SDCC. I was real happy with how they came back.
My Gen 13 #12 I knew was probably a 9.6, but I had no time to find another one, and I really wanted to get him to sign it as it's one of my favorite covers. And that damn Gen 13 1/2 is practically impossible to find as a 9.8, let alone signed. I think Chespirito has one...
And special thanks to my pal Mitch for picking me up this Ebas signed book and having it bingo at 9.9 That was cool to pull out of the box!
Very Nice books added to your JSC Collection.

The Mallrats cameo was my favorite but a close second for me is Stan doing the voice over work for a parody of himself for Robot Chicken.

The real issue is why you're spending $50 on an Elephantmen comic.
What I collect rules, what you collect blows.
I guess it does but I collect every cover I can that J. Scott Campbell has done.

What business model are you using? I've never heard of one that encourages you to destroy your sales channels.
Returns are a cost of doing business, regardless of fault. If you can't handle that you shouldn't be in the customer service business of comic books sales.
Take the book back, refund his money, and sell it to someone else at the proper grade.
I agree. This all could have and still can be worked out.
-
You've said a couple of times that the buyer 'could have' damaged the book. Did you examine the back of the book for spine cracks when you graded it as 9.6/9.8 quality?
The seller states in the sales thread, " All books appear to be in VF-Nm condition (images are for people to see and grade the books for themselves)
Kind of tough with no back cover scan.
Second, why would you tell the buyer a different grade from what you advertised?
Regardless, this should have been resolved between the two of you. Most of us offer full refunds on anything we sale on here, period.
That's exactly why I asked about the grade before purchase. No picture of the back and VF-NM to me is a huge range. I wanted to make sure it was in a grade I could live with. It's obvious he still doesn't want to work this out.
I'm not following this. Your right about VF - NM being a huge range. That's an o.k. way to grade if your selling dollar books or low grade stuff. But if no B.C. scan was provided and you weren't sure of the grade, why did you buy it?
Did you ask the seller about his refund policy before your purchase. These are all things to look for in a sellers sales thread before purchasing. Not that it would solve this problem now, but to avoid problems with later purchases regardless of where.
I did not ask for a scan of the back. My experience on these boards has been good when asking directly about condition, so I took him at his word. But just incase I did buy insurance to prevent against this when the seller offered it to me. Here is more of our PM exchange:
ok man ill try and add some more later today and will put that on hold for usorry for not adding anything else to the site yet just having some issues trying to get straightened out. What kind of books are you looking for and ill see what I have that way it wont hold you up from getting this particular item.I am a JSC collector so anything JSC that I do not have that is in at least cgc 9.6 condition I am interested in.ok well the elephentmen #18 if the only J Scott Campbell I have right now. So if you want send me your email and I will invoice you for this and get it out to you tmmrw. It will be double bagged and boarded placed between four sturdy card board peices, placed in bubble mailer. Never have any issues but can insure it for you as well. Just let me know how you would like it sent media or priority and if you want insured and I will send invoice over to you.Yes I want it insured and sent priority. I don't want anything to happen to it. paypal is: @hotmail.comThanks
So made sure before all of this. That's why the seller is saying the transaction is $58 and I'm saying $50. $50 was purchase price and $8 was shipping with insurance.

Defects look pressable to me. 2 pages on this gave me a headache. I'll pay the $10 joeypost pressing fee is you guys give it a rest...
+1. Just give the guy $10-15 back so he can press it.
The $15 to get it pressed and shipped to Joey is fair and I'm willing to do that. The seller just refuses to work out anything.
No whats sad is a buyer would let someone else that has a vendetta to get their way run them off when the seller has nothing else but good feedback from other buyers.I have no vendetta against you. I have nothing but positive feedback here as well. The pressing idea works for me. I would rather have the book than my money back. Let's work this out.

I just took those pictures last night. You still never responded after the claim or anything. I saw that you listed more items in the sale section and wanted others to see the condition of book you sent me.
I had already figured I was stuck with this book and just wanted to inform other board members so this doesn't happen to them.
-
You admit to not responding to me so how could I have sent you pics. I am a huge JSC collector and you knew this before my purchase. I made it clear this was for my personal collection and asked for condition.
With no response from your end I had to open a dispute to try and get you to respond. Instead of responding to me you escalate it to a paypal claim and still do not contact me directly. Even after the claim ended you never contacted me and so now I went this route to inform on the boards.
You also accuse me of maybe damaging it myself or having buyers remorse and I assure you that neither is the case. I received it in this condition and simply feel cheated. Since you don't want to work this out I feel cheated and want to make other board members aware of our transaction.
However this can easily be put behind us but you are refusing to work this out still. You have pics of the damage and are now finally responding. Lets just work this out.

I will leave it at this and if I am placed on the Probation list then it is what it is but it should be noted the following items and explained so everyone can have a feel for it, at no time did the buyer ask for more images and as anyone I have sold to in the past on here can testify if you ask for the scans they can be provided. The book had no bends or anything as the buyer claims and the reason Paypal denied the claim was because I informed them I had witness statements that could be provided by someone who was present at the time the item was shipped to the buyer with no faults. The buyer claims I did not respond to him, because as some board members know I have a medical condition that affects my immune system and was out of commission for some weeks. Then when I logged back on here before I could even respond to this buyer they had opened a claim through Paypal claiming the was and I quote "Instead the seller sends me a badly beat up comic book" but what he sent me via private email was "I am really upset with this book. You said it was a 9.6-9.8 range with no visible defects. You obviously didn't look at the back of this book because there is horrible spine stress on the back cover." No images attached to either the complaint through Paypal or the original email from the buyer and there was a possibility that it could have happened in shipping and the book was insured, but with no images at either junction of the complaint (on here) or through Paypal as a seller all I have is a buyer telling what what they claim is wrong with the item. These images that are now being placed on this probation listing by CollecDestination is the first time at all since the item was sent and the email was sent to me on the 12th of September which as stated I did not get around to checking until the day buyer opened a complaint with Paypal, and throughout the whole Paypal dispute process that the images have even been sent. So that should say something about the character of the buyer, because even in the dispute through Paypal I stated I had not received any images of the books from the buyer to display what damage they claimed was up with the book. And now a month after the original email and several weeks after the Paypal dispute is sided in my favor images of the "so called" damages are displayed on here instead of through the dispute process or even through Pvt message from the buyer. I feel as a seller that the buyers creditability should be looked into because he only mentions to emails in the whole conversation and dispute process and never acknowledge that images were requested through my response through Paypal so I could see the damage. So when Paypal saw all the messages on this site that they were provided links to they read all of them and the buyers complaint and even stated without the buyer providing images they saw it as a "buyers remorse" case. So this buyer wants to claim I misrepresented something to them, when in fact they have misrepresented alot of facts to this board to hurt a sellers reputation because Paypal did not decide in their favor. And if these images would have been provided in a timely manner with the original email we could have possibly came to some resolution and even filed through USPS insurance for damages. So in closing if I am placed on this list that is ok because you know you will have buyers who do not get their way by going through proper channels such as resolution processes, etc. But again I think this should be looked at heavily because like I said this buyer at no time provided any images of the claimed damage during any of the issues with the original email or through Paypal and now conveniently to disgrace a seller on here they place images of the damages.
You never even responded to me. No message was ever sent to me requesting images of the damage or I would have sent them to you. I opened a paypal dispute. You then respond by saying it is was sold in as is condition. After that you escalated it to a paypal claim and said you feel confident this will be found in your favor.
If you would have asked for Pics I would of sent them. Even after the claim you never sent me any PM or email trying to work this out. This is really easy then. It's not to late to work this out. I tried and you refused but let's just put this behind us. You now see the damage and I'm sure you can agree that's not what I paid for. Please just give me an address to return it for a refund and we can put this behind us. How do you feel about that?

I would like to nominate board member "longshot975" for the probation list.
I purchased an Elephantmen #18 from this boardie from this thread:
longshot975 Sale post
Before purchasing I asked the condition of the book. Here is our PM discussions before my purchase.
Does your Elephantmen #18 J. Scott Campbell cover have any defects at all and if so what are they. Also if submitted to CGC what is your best guess at what your copy of this book would grade?cant ever say because like anyone knows it is always what mood you catch CGC in when you submit it.But I would say between a high 9.6 to 9.8 maybe higher. No visible defects that can be seen.
The image that is on the site is the actual scan of the front of the book.
That sounds good to me. I know how cgc is I can live with a CGC 9.6 of this. I just didn't want anything lower than that for my JSC run. Thanks and I just posted theI'll wait to see what else you have before I send payment for this. Also please ship this as carefully as possible so it arrives in the CGC 9.6 to 9.8 condition shown. thanks.
Once receiving it I was upset because
it had 2 really bad spine creases on the back side. I messaged him and he never responded.
Here are some pics of what I received:
Surprisingly the front looks perfect
But as you can see the back is bad and there's no way it is close to the grade he quoted me to convince me to buy it.
I made a claim and he finally responds. Never directly, but in the coments section of the claim he says the book is sold in as is condition even though he misrepresented the condition to me. Somehow that's enough for paypal even after the pictures and now I'm stuck with this book. I wanted to give others a heads up who are about to do business with this boardie.

I want some Lady Mechanika sketches..these are way cool. 10..to boot!!!
Have you seen the ridliculously cool sketches that Peter Steigerwald has been doing on Lady Mechanika covers over the past month?....they are insane!
Oh ya, I've seen them. Peter is doing a high quality matching set for myself and another board member that he should be finished with soon
