  1. I have submitted grades... not good grades, or ones that match what is presented, but they are technically grades. Which is the best kind of grades!
  2. Lot them up and offer them at discounts, there are people who do buy drek (I am one of them). You can sort by titles, or for lower end stuff by company (Malibu, Defiant, etc). You can fit about 50 books in a medium flat rate box and you should have some victims interested at around $40 shipped ($25 for the comics, $15 for shipping). Once you sell out of what people are willing to over pay for, then discount to $75 a long box for local pickup only.
  3. I had to pull a couple boxes as I had misplaced a book (as one does) and found these..
  4. You can do what you feel would be most valuable to you... but it's Psi force. I guess you could pair with your spitfire or starbrand for maximum new universe goodness
  5. I received a phone call over lunch yesterday about "what ever you ordered was to heavy and I am not moving it...it also better not be expensive" box that was delivered on the porch. 62 pounds later! I drug it into the game room to go through after work and explaining that this was like totally a present from some internet stranger named @HighRadArt..... really you have to believe me Inside contained six 10lb medium boxes stuffed with the most glorious mid-80's to early 00's drek you could have ever hoped for. I spent a good portion of last night skimming through early Image, Caliber, Eclipse, Teckno, Lair, Antarctic, Lightning, PC, Jademan, Top Cow, and so many other companies. Then one final box contained the money shot. A nice silver age Green Lantern run, Spider-man, Batman, Sub-Mariner, and Fantastic Four books.... oh and an Iron Fist #1. I love mystery boxes from boardies because when asked for a theme or what I like I can reply with the following and be perfectly happy with anything received: Which is the main reason i'm always looking for what most consider "Drek". I spoilered the pictures below so open at your own risk STACKS OF BOOKS: Drek of the best; your 90's relived #1: Drek of the best; your 90's-00's relived #2: Full run of Nowhere Men (a great series) and some guy with metal fists: Spider-Bat Fantastic Submarine Guy: Green Light Hal: In addition to all of this there is a near complete run of Wildcats 3.0, runs of 90's Captain America, Kilroy, Alpha Flight, high # Valiant Solar run, and just to much to name. Even now I am finding new stuff since I didn't notice until I took the pictures that the Fantastic Four on top of the pile is signed by McKone! I am always in awe with the complete generosity of board members but this is even to much for me so I will believe what I replied to highradart with as how this all came about:
  6. I would blanket say at least 5% of the entire census is invalid; CGC themselves also are poor stewards of removing labels. Back when I did a lot of signature submissions I would send batches of blue labels in twice a year that show up as part of the census to this day. A more recent example the Jim Shooter signed from last year, the books I sent in under my account were removed from the census, but all four of the books I sent in under another account (after being pressed) are still in the census (the labels were included with the paperwork. PSA has this same problem and is the result largely out of their control; overall the census is a gimmick to show off and should be treated as such.
  7. CGC does not offer any non-witnessed authentication of any kind. Even when witnessed they do not offer that authentication without a mandatory grading service. Their is another company that will authenticate art and signatures through Beckett (TPA) and you will not be forced to grade the comic it will come with an "ART" designation instead of the grade. CGC gets supper butthurt about mentioning the name. Just google CGC alternative comic book certification companies.
  8. @CrystalM CSthank you for the response. I guess I have a decision to make about testing the waters for a future multi-book submission.
  9. This is more of an incorrect notation instead of "signed and sketched" it should be "signed and coloured" or "signed and inked" like they do with multiple artists on jam books for their specific part.
  10. The Aliens franchise in comics is almost a master class in fumbled marketing tie-in opportunities, which is unfortunate for collectors and people with to much money Here are some of my favorite covers: Aliens V2 #2 Aliens V2 (a different one) #4 : Sigourney Weaver cover EDIT! Instead of a graded comic but still under the CGC umbrella, you could always use their media photo authentication. From 8x10s to publicity photos are witnessed and placed in an inner well. They really do not advertise this at all but it is still available. Bill Paxton 8x10 CGC photo
  11. Thank you for the response @KaileeS CS your answer was worded very specifically which wasn't the spirit of the question, so allow me to rephrase. Will CGC acknowledge the pedigree designation on ALL post 1985 books (not just "keys")? Hopefully I am just reading to much into the response and being pedantic cause I own a couple hundred modern pedigree books from both the Savannah, John G. Fantucchio, and Twin Cities pedigrees.
  12. This is awesome to hear @NickiO CS and I hope it is true.... but for reference when I asked back in 2012 this was the response: In 2018 it was noted that exceptions would be made for modern "keys" and an example of Batman Adventures #12 (0311467003) from 1993 (graded 2017) was pictured. I just want to make sure that all potential books fall under this new guidance, cause i'm about to dump a lot of money on grading/reholdering if I can get a solid enough answer.
  13. I have come with another shenanigans question about pedigree notations on CGC labels. Background: The Savannah Pedigree contained 40,000 books from the 1950's up until 2010. In 2010/11 the Savannah Pedigree was recognized by CGC and noted on labels, most of these books came to market via Heritage. I have a number of posts back in 2012 complaining about ultra gatekeeping boomer stance that CGC would not recognize any book as part of any pedigree published after 1985 (cause the silver age was just yesterday and comics are pure and sacred!). I was trying to break the online submission form into allowing me to select both a custom label and pedigree designation (it hasn't worked yet) and noticed that there was no longer an issue with selecting the Savannah Pedigree for my X-men #1 (1991). Out of curiosity I looked through the pedigree section and FAQ portion to find that all reference to this previous "rule" has been removed from the website verbiage. Question: Can I submit my copy of X-Men #1 (1991) to CGC for the (ugly) Pedigree label? I have all the relevant Heritage information confirming its origin.
  14. I am so happy these got to you! I looked at the tracking sometime last week and saw that the package had bounced around between Canada/US a couple times and was nervous.
  15. I posted in your other thread about this but this is just what CCS does to books. Eventually it will come to a head given just how bad things are getting but we are not there yet, best advice is to never send your books to CCS for pressing.
  16. An easy way to check if they have been pressed by CCS is to compare the books condition now to what they where when you sent them off (cause you were responsible and took pictures). If they look worse now and have obvious defects then you can trust they were absolutely pressed to the best ability of CCS!
  17. Not the resurrected corpse of Stan Lee but his undead twitter account is still going strong shilling and hawking items to scar all comic fans.
  18. #1 is under Alita: Battle Angel 1992 Viz Comics For some reason CGC has the first issue under the different title, it could be how the issue was titled on the original indicia prior to the second issue. I don't have copies of these so can't confirm.
  19. I wanted to like this movie so much but while not a complete disappointment it was absolutely underwhelming. So much of the first and second act just feel like it is meandering through a set of scenes and not progressing a story that will culminate in the last 30 minutes (I wasn't fan of the "twist"). The acting is great though and this genre of film is Rian Johnson's strong point.
  20. The only thing you can do is hope someone at CGC does their job and logs finding some books that were not properly entered into their system and them matches them to your submission that is missing. They will not do anything else because you don't have the power to force them to and they can get away with ignoring you when they choose. You will receive no compensation for missing books unless you are someone important or the books are valuable enough to cause a PR issue. good luck.
  21. This mentality is often caused by trauma from being forced to "grow up" (for the older generation) from parentification or just undue forced responsibility during childhood. From younger people, it usually signals they haven't come to terms with who they are as a young adult and will publicly chastise "childishness" as a show of false maturity but in private embrace it. In both cases in their mind they had to put away "childish" things and become an adult so if someone else hasn't they should be shamed until they do, because that is what it "means" to be an adult. Some people are just angry at the world and use any excuse to lash out at others, family members and friends are likely to put up with it the most so they usually get away with it. Years back during a family XMas the MIL started making snide comments about our daughter being to old for dolls (a super expensive Supergirl Barbie) to which I came down hard on and reminded MIL that her house is literally a shrine to "Precious Moments" toys and that at her advanced age it was completely embarrassing. I was more lippy and targeted with my words but I regret nothing... lol.
  22. I'm not a fan of how the Pedigree label looks so I was trying to ask CGC if I could just pay for a custom label with the Pedigree noted (they said no), then I asked if I resubmit for a new holder if they could re-serialize the numbers so they would be XXX001-XXX011 (they said no again). So I am not sure which direction I will I go, lol.
