This really is a fascinating pedigree because there is still so much we don't know about it, and, of course, due to the sad story behind its alleged origins. I participated in a conversation with a major figure in the hobby about 6-7 years ago, and this topic came up. While it is clear that the collection is real and spectacular, he felt that details surrounding the story of Tom Reilly may be apocryphal. It's interesting to hear you mention that "Tom" was a nickname. This would be a complication, but despite all of the resources available, no one has been able to put together all the pieces to corroborate it fully.

4.5 Short Boxes of Moderns from 2005-2006 - $225.00 I am considering posting 4 and a half shortboxes of moderns from 2005-2006, and a bit from 2007. They are all mainstream Marvel and DC ongoing titles, including a variety of minis and "event" limited series (Civil War, Crisis, 52, etc..). There are also a lot of the Dark Horse Star Wars titles that were running during that time. For Marvel, the runs consist of the main solo and team books such as ASM, Cap, Iron Man, New Avengers, She-Hulk, FF. Not very many "X-Men" titles. In fact, literally just a small handful of them. The DC books are titles like JSA, JLA, Supergirl, Flash, Wonder Woman, Green Latern, etc... along with a few Batman and Superman books. In total, I estimate there are about 550 books. The books are almost all unread and bagged and boarded. I used to cherry pick for the highest grade copy available at the store, but I won't guarantee that the boxes are full of 9.8's, although I'm sure there are a number of them. I would be asking $225 (about .40 cents per book), plus shipping. Ideally, the buyer would have their own UPS account, and we could simply ship on their account number. Let me know if there is some interest in this, and I can put together more details. Fantastic Four # 200-500 (including vol. 2 and 3) - $250 This is a complete run of FF from # 200 to 500, which includes the renumbered vol. 2 and vol. 3 books. It's about 3 short boxes of books. Many of these are uncirculated copies that are minty fresh 9.2 and higher. There are probably a boatload of 9.6's and plenty of 9.8's in here. 200-250 are a little bit lower grade than the later portions of the run, but are still very, very sweet. Same thing would apply regarding shipping - buyer would pay actual shipping costs, ideally on their UPS account number. But US postal mail would be an option too. Fantastic Four misc. lot of books from the 20 cent cover price era up to # 200 - $70??? There's probably 60 books or so. I'd have to take a closer look at these. Most are mid grade around VG/FN. Amazing Spider-Man misc. lot from 70's and 80's - $250 A long box of ASM's from the 70's and 80's. Primarily mid-grade, but later issues get into VF and higher territory. Multiple copies of some issues. No # 238, but there is a #252. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I don't want to break up these lots and sell books individually. No amount of research or asking other people what it's like can prepare you for the wonderfully positive experience being a parent provides, IF you are a person who chooses to embrace it. Of all the "things" I love, material or otherwise, I have come to realize that nothing else in the world matters except for my family and making sure they are taken care of. In terms of how it has changed my collecting habits, let's just say that I'm excited to buy a single Marvel Masterworks volume every couple of months. Weekly visits to my LCS are pretty much ancient history, as are frequent bids on Heritage or eBay. It's not due to a lack of interest so much as it is a loss of discretionary income.

When I do so, I plan to buy issues of The Shadow, Astonishing, and anything with damsel in distress or otherwise skantily clad. This will give me lots of different ones to choose from! I bought the Bookery guide today at the Gem City Comic Con in Dayton so I can get a little better educated about them.

I don't know why this is so hard. Based on the new guidelines, anyone, including full-time and part-time dealers, should be welcome to post books in the Forum Buy/Sell Area that are EXCLUSIVE to the boards. That means if Bob Storms, Mark Zaid, Vincent Zurzolo, Santa Claus, or the Tooth Fairy want to post books here that are only being advertised/marketed on the forum, then great. I think that's perfectly fine, and I have no problem with it whatsoever. What I don't like is the concept of excluding people from the forum based on their station within the hobby. This is an especially slippery slope considering that the intake of books by some so-called "collectors" (not pointing fingers at anyone in particular) is less than the exhaust. Not to mention "collectors" such as myself who sometimes buy specifically for the purpose of resale. -Jim

Thanks, guys! Ohio is good so far. We love the house, and my home office is pretty sweet. Work has been super busy, plus I'm doing a lot of freelance photography right now. I'm not used to the weather or glut of chain restaurants, but we're very happy. I haven't had much time to play comic book lately, but I'm looking forward to Mid Ohio-Con later this month, and Wondercon in SF in March.

It's not original art, but it is one of my most treasured possessions. It was a gift from Jeffreykli, sckao, FFB, jbud, and ParisFred when I moved in September. This serigraph was commissioned by Fred for his comic shop Editions Deesse in Paris to commemorate the 15th anniversary of the store. Only 250 prints were made, and I was given 1 of the 10 artist proofs produced.

I posted this in the WonderCon report thread in Comics - Events, but here it is for the OA fans that might not wander into those boards... ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- With some much appreciated advice from Paris Fred and Jeffreykli, I bought my first ever Jack Kirby OA yesterday at WonderCon. It's a page from an obscure 1971 DC published magazine called Spirit World. It is probably the most oddball (and therefore least expensive) Kirby page one could ever hope to find. I'll have a full con report in the next day or two. I am in comic heaven right now!
