  1. This is not kinder garten where the one who hits hardest, shouts loudest, or has most friends is right. Jay couldn't care less how many says the moon is made of cheese if he is not convinced that it is. And he deserves respect for that when at the same time his arguments (at least for the most part) are solid. But as has been pointed out again and again he isn't making reasonable arguments -he is, you could say, the childish one, the one pushing, hitting the hardest, shouting the loudest.
  2. If anything his terrible analysis probably had the opposite effect and made people realize Cerebus #1 should be worth even more. People are already forgetting who Wolverine is and confusing him with the Punisher:) He's out of vogue -now "fun" superheroes are all the rage like Thor, Iron Man, Captain America, Hulk, Hawkeye, Spideman, Antman, QuickSilver, Fantastic Four, Dr Strange -unless he becomes DC, but they have their own list of Flash, Arrow, Superman, Batman, Constantine, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg etc Even Wolevrine getting killed off isn't getting much traction in mainstream media.
  3. Me personally? The Cerebus 1. But that has nothing to do with this discussion. I would take a 35 cent Scooby Doo #1 over either of them, and I demand to see it crack the OSPG Top Ten immediately. So would I So, you're ok with never having Hulk 181 in your collection? A variant is more significant to you? I can get a Hulk 181 every day of the week. I'd take the Scooby even in vastly lower grade. Lets take an average BMW... and an average Toyota. Which one is more valuable? The BMW. Now, let's say someone found 10.000 more of each (or the companies decided to make 10.000 more of each..same thing) then .... which oen is now the more valuable? Obviously still the BMW... it is just a better and more valuable car.. right? Now... Let's say someone found 10.000 H181s and 10.000 Scooby 1s...(all in 9.4 grade) As a dealer.... which load would you buy? The 10.000 IH181s.. or the 10.000 Scooby 1s? Think like a businessman....which one...? Alex he was kidding:)
  4. As others have suggested Jdog doesn't seem to really believe his arguments about Overstreet and Hulk and is trolling...or...maybe it's very important for Jdog for some unfathomable reason to prove that Cerebus is worth less than it is -despite him saying he likes the comic his description of it is repeatedly unnecessarily dismissive. Say what you want but Cerebus is extremely unique and has an incredibly important place in comic history -it's synonymous with "Creator Rights", the creator was called the "Godfather of indie comics", he took on Diamond and changed the pay quotas -the comic is seen as the starting point of a whole indie comic industry, it inspired some of the biggest creators, comics, movie franchises and comic book companies like Image. Wolverine on the other hand might fall out of favor and disappear tomorrow and be forgotten. People are fickle. It has not inspired anything and when it comes down to it is another cool superhero in a ever increasing long list of top tier cool superheroes. Nothing against Wolverine or superheroes -it is what it is.
  5. Speaking of Bronze Age and Cerebus a new issue of the magazine "Back Issue #75" is this week at major newsstands and next week at comic shops and features a long article on Cerebus among others.
  6. I would say Cerebus #1 should be valued higher. Much like Superman's first appearance the first issue of Cerebus is seen as the defining moment when a new comic industry emerged. Historically Wolverine's significance has nothing on Cerebus. And if Cerebus had gone mainstream and been published by Marvel the price would probably go way up just on popularity alone -and I would think that Cerebus film starring Hugh Jackman would have happened by now:)
  7. I remember at $600 people said it was a fad! They just don`t get it. This is this generations Incredible Hulk #181 and TMNT #1. Except those comics represent the first appearances of characters that have fan followings. Walking Dead is more about the overall story than any character. I think Walking Dead is more comparable to Cerebus than any super hero comic, and how much are you willing to pay for the first appearance of Lord Julius? The difference I see in Cerebus and Walking Dead is not many non-comic book fans will ever hear about Cerebus. So I really wouldn`t compare the two franchises. Dave Sim had many chances to merchandise his great creation, but he refused. So we won`t be seeing a Cerebus move, animated series or video game anytime soon. I understand what your saying about the Walking Dead that is more about characters than just one major one,but so is the concept of the X-men. Really the Walking Dead was the perfect storm,as Marvel and DC haven`t created any iconic characters in the last twenty years in their respective universes. People wanted a little something different than confused multipart crossovers in the DC and Marvel modern universes.Kirkman`s Walking Dead snuck in and stole the show. Nobody expected this, just like how TMNT came out of nowhere in the 1980s. IMHO. Actually there is a Cerebus film in the works. http://www.facebook.com/cerebusfilm http://www.facebook.com/cerebusfilm http://cerebus3d.com/ http://www.whatcomix.blogspot.com/
