Amazing Spider-Man Collecting Thread!
Wall-Crawler replied to Point Five's topic in Silver Age Comic Books
Been here for a bit now, just found this thread...I have been collecting ASM for a good while. I currently have from issue #59 to ASM #700 (excluding variants) in a perfect run. Issues below #59 that I have are #39, #46,#50 and #56 Issues that I am still missing...#1 - #38, #40 - #45, #47-#49, #51 - #55, #57 and #58... My 'attainable' goal is to get a complete run from #50 to present. I collect a mix or raw and CGC books. The lowest grade I shoot for on Silver Age ASM's is 6.0 - But I feel more comfortable with nice looking 7.0 - 8.0's... Unfortunately, I probably never will be able to crack AF #15 and the other earliest ASM books...And that has actually made me think quite a lot about my collecting habits..Do I keep working towards the "impossible dream", sell off the run (but keep my keys) and every other non-ASM book to help get a few key books (but I don't know if I could do that...) or maybe just move on to something completely different and forget about the ol Webhead...Realistically though, I don't think that last option will ever happen though...Anyone else have this dilemma? Anyway, here are my current top two CGC'ed Silver Age ASM's... And while not 'super valuable' this is my ASM #62, one of my fave covers by JR Sr. -
Thank you sir! Always liked Felicia, just don't always like how some writers portray her...

I picked myself up this copy not too long ago... I have another raw copy and two NM raw copies of ASM #195...

Take note that there are still 20 different issues with 5 or Less copies Graded by CGC. The Big-4 (Donald #222, Lulu #260, Scrooge #179, WDC&S #480) have been well known TOUGH issues for 30 Years & were the first to bring record prices on eBay, now listing relatively high in Guide, thus a disproportionate number of copies have been CGC graded, they are still scarce & in huge demand in spite of what the skewed CGC quantities would indicate. Am I correct that this is one of the 'rarer' ones that it was only sold in 3-Packs? -
Pretty pleased with this...High grade set of OMEGA THE UNKNOWN # 1 - #10...Definitely a series ahead of its time!

+1 Gotta agree that it's a great sketch. IMO when it comes to sketches, CGC is ONLY for authentication. Who really gives a stuff about the grade when you have a one-of-a-kind that looks that good? +2 However, if you don't like the sketch itself all that much...

...I have looked here.... http://www.dougcomicworld.com/INVENTORY-WhitmanComicsSite.html But it would be nice to have a 'ranked list' that was more reader friendly... -
I thought so! Got the book for $14.62...Rest of the cost was shipping! Now I just wish I could read it...

Not super valuable but as a youngster I always wanted my own copy after seeing the ads to send $ away to UNICEF to get one but I never did...I was able to score this off of eBay for $32 including shipping...

For 'description sake' how does the Whitman 'ranking' order work? For example is it Rare, Scarce, Uncommon or some other order? Just trying to figure out the pecking order so to speak. Thanks! -
