  1. Hi all, We have had a rule for a long time to group for sale items into "as few threads as is reasonable" to avoid wars for front page space. The rule itself has very limited information about what constitutes "reasonable", and in fact opinions vary on what is reasonable. It seems to be a bit of a trial and error process for new users. I was hoping you would all help out by contributing some examples of thread splitting that is OK versus thread splitting that isn't OK. These posts can serve as "case law" examples for new users to help them get a better feel for what the right treatment is, instead of just the word "reasonable". Thanks in advance! UPDATE: Thank you all for your input. We've updated this rule to allow just one thread per user on the front page of a particular sub-forum. See the usage guidelines thread for details.
  2. Hi all, I thought it would be cool to make a single thread as an index of all of the ongoing contribute-forever kind of threads FROM COMICS GENERAL ONLY so people could find those cool gems. Some of them are pinned to the top, but definitely not all - there wouldn't be room! I'm thinking that each forum could have a thread like this that gets pinned, and that might save some room at the top, while making space for more cool threads like these to be featured. HERE IS HOW IT WORKS: I added a tag to the threads listed below of "infinite". Because of that you can find the whole list of them AND click on the black dot to see new posts via this search: THE INFINITE THREADS LIST! Here are the first few that I tagged, but anyone who adds an "infinite" tag to a thread will show up in the search, so the community can add to it. This lets people easily find those threads without always having to scroll past them at the top.
  3. Hi all, I added a new board for newbie questions to our community. I was finding a lot of general "getting started" kinds of questions about collecting showing up in the area we created for questions about the new boards, and it seemed like a good opportunity to let the community create a kind of Frequently Asked Questions area. The kind of board I created has some special features to help people find the best answers to questions and the most helpful questions. Special Q&A features: Members can upvote questions they think are great questions and most helpful to other members. Members can upvote the best answers in a question and push that answer to the top The ORIGINAL POSTER who asked the question can make a single answer as "The best answer" A block at the top shows questions without answers, and popular questions This is a great place to welcome new members, and help people join the hobby, so I hope you all take the time to grow the community and offer a friendly and helpful welcome. Also... who can get the most top answers? Hm... https://www.cgccomics.com/boards/forum/93-newbie-comic-collecting-questions/
  4. Post a reply here to get a mention of your sub-forum thread here on the main forum.
  5. Post a reply here to get a mention of your sub-forum thread here on the main forum.
  6. Post here if you have a sale in the misc forum that contains forum Copper / Modern age books and you want a mention here.
  7. Post here if you have a sale in the misc forum that contains forum Golden / Bronze / Silver age books and you want a mention here.
  8. This is to collect all upcoming events. In order to help people find events, let's follow some basic guidelines: Put the NAME, DATE, and CITY in the title Post the event on the calendar too. This will make it visible in more places on the boards than just this section (sidebars, etc) Note that this is also the place to organize forum get-togethers, and even to have discussion threads related specifically to events. e.g. "Has anyone been to XXXX? Is it good for golden age stuff?" Regards, Arch
