  1. I know that this thread is old, but I wanted to thank you for posting this photo of your graded comic. I see that it has a CGC blue label with a note "6 siamese pages cut apart" under the grade (VF/NM 9.0). I am glad to see this because I recently purchased a Vampirella #19 that otherwise looks NM with 2 siamese pages cut apart. Prior to finding this thread (which I searched for high and low), I came across a few other threads on this forum where people insisted that siamese pages cut apart would be given a purple (restored) label for trimming, which made no sense to me because trimming involves removing part of a book; whereas cutting apart siamese pages does not (unless someone additionally removes part of the interior pages by cutting). Siamese pages that have been cut apart look a lot nicer than siamese pages that have been torn apart, based on the few photos I have seen.
  2. You can still submit books directly to CGC without being a member. Log in here or create a free account if you don't have one. Follow the links to here. You send your books directly to CGC and CGC ships them directly back to you. The only drawback to this method is that you can't track your books online so you'll have to call CGC from time to time to find out the status of your submission. Easy, peasy, and doesn't cost you a cent. Thanks for the info.
  3. I'm thinking about becoming a member of the CGC Collector's Society soon in order to get comic magazines graded, which have a considerably quicker turnaround time than comic books. However, I don't see myself being a member for longer than it takes to get those magazines graded because the turnaround times on comic books are so slow, especially for the combined price of membership and grading fees. It seems to me that membership is more beneficial to big-time comic sellers and collectors and not so beneficial to collectors on a tighter budget such as myself.
  4. Not sure about how high a comic with a detached cover could be graded by CGC, but one with a centerfold loose at one staple can grade at least as high as 9.6: Amazing Adventures 7 CGC 9.6 Look at the supersized image and notice that it clearly states on a BLUE label, "Centerfold detached from one staple only." This is a HUGE discrepancy in CGC and Overstreet grading standards, which shocked me at first. I'm mostly glad that I noticed it in the picture because I would have been upset if I had purchased it and then noticed it upon arrival. I put some level of trust in CGC's grading and definitely trust it more than a typical seller's word on eBay, but I don't trust CGC over and above Overstreet to the point of wanting to pay a premium price for this comic in "9.6" condition.
