  1. "THE GROUND IS A VISIGOTH'S DOMAIN" I bought this original art and had it framed with museum archival material and UV Resistant Glass. X-O Manowar is my favorite title to collect and this page came from one of my favorite story arcs: "Prelude to Planet Death". X-O Manowar is about a Visigoth warrior from Roman times who was abducted and enslaved by aliens. The warrior takes their most powerful weapon....the X-O Manowar Armor and bonds with it. The armor is sentient, practically invulnerable, can heal it's wearer and itself, can shoot plasma lasers, enable flight, enable super strength, ect. The world's most primitive warrior in possession of the most advanced alien weapon on a a revenge mission to destroy his former captors. "Conan in a can". What's not to love? 2. Walking Dead #109 Sketch Cover Here is an amazing sketch cover that I bought from an eBay Seller. Walking Dead #109 Sketch Cover. Signed and Sketch by Chris Mangold. But this is an almost perfect recreation of Issue #33; the infamous and Classic Michonne Revenge Cover done with an emerald green back ground. This looks great next to my 1st Print Red Cover and Second Print Blue Cover. I would recommend checking out this artist, I've seen his other recreations, and they look amazing. Anyways, just wanted to share....Thanks for looking. To see old comments for this Journal entry, click here. New comments can be added below.
  3. Higher grade after resubmission? I'm considering resubmitting two or three 9.6s for re-grading. Hoping to for a higher grade. Any successful outcomes? To see old comments for this Journal entry, click here. New comments can be added below.
  4. X-O Manowar #14 Just got this back from grading. X-O Manowar #14. Planet Death. Black covers are notoriously difficult to get as 9.8s, and I was lucky to get a high grade for this beauty. 8-Bit covers tend to be the new trend. This one harkens back to a certain Nintendo game called Metroid. Onward with my quest for more X-O Manowar books. To see old comments for this Journal entry, click here. 5. Rai #0 CGC 9.9 Universal Coming this Spring, Valiant Entertainment is bringing back Rai and adding him to their revamped universe. Along with X-O Manowar, Rai is one of my absolute favorite original Valiant characters. A futuristic Japanese samurai warrior empowered with nanite technology in his bloodstream boosting strength, agility, and healing powers....what's not to like? Got this cool #0 issue with a 9.9 grade. The cover is a classic. Looking forward to new stories in 2014. To see old comments for this Journal entry, click here. New comments can be added below.

  9. CGC 9.8 SS Signature Goodness! This is a great sketch I received from artist, Chris Moreno. I wanted an X-O Manowar in flight. It is a cartoonish, but I still love it none the less. It's was sketched and signed on the new Unity #1 Blank Sketch Cover at Long Beach Comic Con back in November. I glad it came back an 9.8 More Conventions to attend....more sketches to obtain. Thanks for looking. To see old comments for this Journal entry, click here. New comments can be added below.
  10. ALL OUT WAR Just got this baby back after being graded as an ideal Signature Series 9.8 Very happy and pleased with the grade and the beautiful sketch. I went to the Long Beach Comic Convention back in November and got this signed and sketched by Ben Templesmith. Real approachable guy. Extremely talented and famous for the art in 30 Days of Night, and Ten Grand. A master in his genre. I requested a Michonne Zombie Battle scene on the cover and he produced this piece of art. It's amazing what a little Ink, pencil, watercolor paints can do in the right hands. This is a keeper! Thanks for looking...., To see old comments for this Journal entry, click here. 11. Books are piling up Collecting graded books is fun and rewarding. One of the drawbacks is how much space these books take. Over the years, the collection has grown and I am running out of closet space. The garage may be the next destination for storage. Any suggestions/recommendations on storage and how the rest of my comic book brethren store their goodies? To see old comments for this Journal entry, click here. New comments can be added below.
  12. That is cool! Now I got to convince the wife that I need a man cave. The plan is to seize one of the rooms in the new house we are buying. That's a good setup. Simple, yet classy.
  13. The next hot title? Recently purchased this beauty on ebay and it arrived yesterday. I have been following this storyline and so far the art and stories are intriguing. Pretty Deadly is a Supernatural Revenge Western, steered by two talented women (Kelly Sue DeConnick and Emma Ríos). Will this be the next hot title? Any predictions on the next WALKING DEAD? 14. Manufacturing Error = Rare? or just damaged goods? This is book is a unique one-of-a-kind error book with miss cuts, inverted and missing pages, affecting story. Signed and sketch by Cary Nord and signed by Robert Vendetti. It was graded as Signature Series CGG .5 due to the manufacturing error. Even with the errors, I still love it though. Anybody have these kind of manufacturer's errors? To see old comments for this Journal entry, click here. New comments can be added below.
  15. High Grades There's is something about high grade books with the magic numbers 9.9 that bring happiness to me. The wonderful number that one-ups the 9.8. The coveted CGC Universal 9.9 MINT........I just love them! I love the CGC Universal 10 GEM MINT too of course. To see old comments for this Journal entry, click here. A scarce comic to attain both covers at 9.8 Anyone familiar Or own these type of errors? To see old comments for this Journal entry, click here. New comments can be added below.
  17. Andrew Lincoln Signature Like many people, I've been trying to cut down spending and budget.....and browsing on ebay.....ya..di...ya... Then I saw Walking Dead #75 Convention Edition CGC 9.8 Signature Series, Signed by by the star himself....ANDREW LINCOLN "Rick Grimes". Difficult to find CGC Certified. Had to have it. Very reasonable price. And in the collection it goes... Now I can go back to cutting spending, budgeting, ect....wish me luck! To see old comments for this Journal entry, click here. 20. Too many variants? Coming back to collecting comics after a years long hiatus....it is a pleasure to start up again with this wonderful and addicting game of collecting and striving to complete sets with CGC 9.8s and above. But MAN,,,, it gets exhausting trying to obtain and staying on track with collecting all these variants in the marketplace. The current trend is taking a swing back to the 90s when the variants were king. But that burned out after a couple of years. Are we seeing the same pattern here? How long is this variant trend going to last? OR is the Variant here to stay?......thoughts? Below is one of my favorite Variants by Bart Sears as the cover artist. Extremely hard to find in high grade. Yes...I am a victim to the Variant Monster....are you too? To see old comments for this Journal entry, click here. New comments can be added below.
  21. Double Sketches anyone, anyone? Comic Book of the day.... Walking Dead #27 CGC 9.8 SS Signature Series. Sketch by Charlie Adlard and Tony Moore. Signed by Charlie Adlard, Tony Moore, and Robert Kirkman. Proud of this little gem. Anybody have double sketches or more to share? Thanks for looking. 22. Sketches vs Signatures.....Sketch and Signatures PLEASE! Who loves SKETCHES on comics vs just signatures? Do you believe the sketches plus signatures are more valuable....in the long run than just signatures? I know there are some purists out there who would prefer just the blue label. But, Personally, when I am on the hunt for CGC graded comics, I tend to go for the artist sketches....I think it enhances the uniqueness and "one-of-kind" status of the comic. Check out my X-O Manowar/Harbinger Flipbook CGC 9.8 Signature Series.....Signed and Sketch by Cary Nord....I love it and consider it a beauty. Thoughts anyone?? 23. Second Printings more valuable and rare than First Printings? Is it just me or am I noticing that some second printings are much rarer and valuable than the first. For example, Walking Dead #33 (Blue Cover) Second Print, is on average, going for 5 times the value of it's First Print counter part. Walking Dead #2 Second Printing is extremely difficult to find in 9.8 Grade, and is going for about the same price as it's First Print counter part. Anybody have some books from their favorite sets that fall under this trend? To see old comments for this Journal entry, click here. New comments can be added below.
  24. CGC 9.8 Signature Series Versus CGC 9.9 MINT Universal? The Winner? Would you prefer to keep a 9.8 Signature Series? Or upgrade to a Universal 9.9 when an opportunity to buy one appears? In this hobby, it seems that we strive to obtain the best of the best. What would be more preferable....a CGC 9.8 with a signature from a beloved artist/writer or a MINT condition UNIVERSAL CGC 9.9. Inquiring minds want to know. To see old comments for this Journal entry, click here. New comments can be added below.
  25. Recommendations for an Apple computer Compatible scanner for CGC Slabs.... Anybody have any recommendations for a scanner to scan CGC slabs that is compatable Apple Computers? To see old comments for this Journal entry, click here. New comments can be added below.
