  1. Haven't added many Luke's yet. Have a handful more, pics not on this 'puter. 42 & 45 are Mark Jewelers. 37 is a CGC 9.6 Don Rosa. 50 is CGC 9.6.
  2. Purchases not self subs, but I plan to change that in 2023. I really like the slabs, even the gen 1 label. They make the Topps Gold Labels pop. I wanted a Parsons RC just to have one and I figured this was a good way to get one without breaking the bank. I like the potential of CSG grading as time moves on. But it takes time to build the brand. A little patience.
  3. I stand corrected. I see several worse than mine
  4. I'll second it(or 3rd it, 4th it) Happy Thanksgiving! I don't frequent many forums and I'm cutting my Facebook presence way down. This is the best forum I visit.
  5. Comics no. Sportscards, to borrow a term from an earlier post, I could "cannibalize" my cards and go after virtually any comic. But....I'm old. Or older. 52 in Feb. And I'm nostalgic, and my heart is in collecting. Everything I've brought in over the last decade means something to me, more than $ or flipping.
  6. I second that for the most part. The room I use gets no sunlight. Artificial lighting is low. No problems w/ comic, sportscard, magazine or newspaper displays over the last 9 years. No fading. I rotate things in/out of display. Anywhere from every 2 weeks to 6 months That's me trying to make sure I get display run with as many items as possible.
  7. Setting the collecting world on fire. Well, no. Mark Jewelers though.
  8. I get it. Been there sportscard wise w/ burnout years ago. These days I balance it out better. Comics, cards, action/wrestling figures. Some auto racing and movie collectibles. King of no runs, King of no collections. Just having fun.
  9. Tarzan mans a machine gun Tom & Jerry Mark Jewelers Overstreet to peruse while I accompany the Mom for a couple of Doctor checkups today/tomorrow
  10. Comic/Sport Card parting of the ways. At no point did I sell everything, but did get close. 1990: Student loan payoff + car down pymt. Mostly comics. FF, Spidey run, 50's Atlas Westerns. Others. 2001: House down pymt. All cards. In the end, worth it. 2010: Money for attorney to keep my dumb arse outta jail . Cards again. Had rebuilt the card collection well 08-09, but, again. My dumb arse. All in all, glad I had stuff to fall back on.
  11. My comic collecting, first go 'round, spanned 1975 - 1987. Just for fun I'll add my sportscard collecting, first go 'round was 1983 - 2000. How much bandwith am I allotted for my list(s)?
  12. Random pick up.No recollection of seeing these on spinners or in shops Fella on cover kinda resembles Ronn Moss
  13. Only Fawcett I have for now. Comic Link win about a year and a half back. CGC 5.5.It was cost efficient
  14. Lone Star, er, My Comic Shop pickups I've posted my well loved Emergency #1 in a couple of threads. Wanted a cleaner one . Power Man is another Mark Jewelers.
  15. 51. Most of my Golden's are Tarzan. Starting to branch out a bit. Lone Ranger, pre codes. I like collecting GA. I treat it like I do 40's & 50's football card collecting. Nothing perfect or uber-mint, but well loved and with character is fine
  16. A great scanner makes a wealth of difference. I'm primarily a card collector. I've got an Epson v600 for those. I so wish I could fit a CGC slab on that thing. Does a great job w/ raw comics but man. So close with slabs
  17. Just to follow up my post, no pics but books in hand I'll definitely give 2 two thumbs up and seal of approval to Bob Storms / High Grade i.e. raw grading. Legit.
