  1. I'm sure I must have posted this somewhere on the boards at some point in time, and it is hardly representative of the breadth of my GA Archie and MLJ collection, I just happened to have these books out one day several years ago and took the shot. Anyway, seemed like a good one for a Sunday morning...
  2. Would love to see that 9.8!! I'll pull my 30 as well tomorrow... see how beat up they both are.
  3. I have a raw 31... I'll have to pull it tomorrow. No idea what kinda shape it's in.
  4. That IRS copy is great looking! The back on the 62 looks good too. Looks like a little bit of dust shadow and light foxing, but nothing unsightly. We shall see.
  5. I bought this on eBay the other day Jason ... figured you'd appreciate it. Seller says it's a 9.0 and based on the photos I don't think he is far off. We will see what it looks like in hand, and if it grades out.
  6. Here's one of my higher grade Suzie's. Oh and my Church copy...
  7. Jason, welcome. You're the king of high grade Suzie's ... just the guy for this convo. Do you know what the deal is with that double cover designation on the Crippen 51? I bought it from you right?
  8. And here is my 51. Interesting book.... it's kinda low grade for a Crippen and the label says it is a double cover, which it is most certainly not (had to have been a major QC oversight). I still love it just the same.
  9. Steve don't you own the Crippen 56? I own the Crippen 51, I will post it later.
  10. Great books as always Steve! Congrats on the pickups. I love that Suzie 56 too. I have a uni 5.5. copy, but always looking for an upgrade.
  11. I don't follow these as closely as you folks, but I was surprised at how high some of the prices were. He didn't exactly run head-to-head with HA because the HA auction had ended before these closed. But still, you do wonder whether some potential bidders didn't participate -- or didn't participate as fully as they might have -- if he had run the auctions a week earlier. Given the prices HA got yesterday, it's hard to believe he wouldn't have gotten more if they had been graded and put in that auction. But who really knows? Valid point, Tony. And you're right, who really knows... but I will clarify with regard to the HA auction, it wasn't a very heavy Archie/MLJ showing, so while an Archie/MLJ buyer could be any GA collector (like you, sir), for those who psychotically collect/hoard all that is Archie/MLJ, my focus was no where but eBay last night.
  12. I only got one Corey, and no need to wait till it's in hand to share. It was the Pep 49. A little rough around the edges and a loose center wrap, but ... well, I wanted it. Gino I had my eye on the 34 like everyone else, but was out of that way early. It was the Pep 26 I was chasing, but tapped out around $3700. I'm not sure how much money was left on the table by not slabbing or HA-ing. hehe Shane had a great format, he had them ending on the perfect day and time, no conflict with any other auction house. He had pics of front and back - though not high res which in a way probably helped (up for debate). He was super communicative when asked, and even when he wasn't asked - supplying all the great issue by issue detail to us individually. The BP with HA is a P.I.A. We pay it because we have to, but I hate it. That said, it does oddly make it justifiable for me to drop 535 on the book I bought cause I know I would have had to get it for 380ish sans BP to pay the same price on HA.
  13. Not me, Tony. I did see it and thought it was a nice looking copy... I hope someone here got it. More recently, anyone get anything during last night's Pep extravaganza? Some pretty impressive prices ... not only on the higher grade sought after books, but even on some of the really low grade stuff. I was shooting for 6 of them. Got blown out of the water on a few. Missed one by just a little (though impossible to know what the actual high bid was), and got one copy that I probably overpaid for, but pleased to fill the hole (and certainly wound up spending a lot less money than the multiples thousands I was prepared to drop just hours earlier). I will say in the Pep 23-50 range, I was excited by many of the prices he got on those raw and varying grade books. I have all but 3 of them and it's was great to see what they brought.
  14. I'm guessing that a month of asking the higher price without any interest led to be reduced (still too high) revised asking and consignment.
  15. Old news? Fair enough. I was out of the country when they posted that and not checking the boards as often... but even still those books are never snoozers in any condition for an MLJ fan.
  16. Has anyone seen Met's latest sales addition to their site? Not a CC auction, just a good old fashion 'for sale' item. It's a set of 3 books, Archie 1, Pep 22 and Jackpot 4 for 85k (varying grades with the Jackpot 4 at 5.0, and the Pep 22 with slightly brittle pages). The trifecta!
  17. Awesome grades, congrats. Interesting that they listed Circle 8 as a pedigree. I thought they were no longer recognizing it as it is not on their list here: CGC Recognized Pedigrees
  18. Geez sorry man. Think I owe you like 80 bucks on that one. Didn't know it was you or I would have never bid.
  19. Wow Steve, the Crippen 17. What a great purchase. Serious !
  20. I wouldn't sweat it. You're hardly promoting the competition... though don't be surprised if next time you look they've superimposed the CGC label with a 2.0 or a 2.5.
