  1. There was a Wizard World Convention in Des Moines? Wow, I had no idea and I live in Iowa..
  2. Got to imagine this will cause people to submit way more orders through Classics Incorporated now rather than other avenues. Not to mention if Matt Nelson continues to sell CGC graded books, CGC would start trending dangerously close to PGX territory. Bad idea all around Brian
  3. Man, your kids are going to be so upset when they find out you shortchanged them by going for 9.8's instead of 9.9's and 10's. I hate to think how that will play out down the road.. family gatherings will be brutal. Lovin' the conspiracy theories though, I think you've managed to hit most of them in one thread. There's a couple more you haven't gotten to yet, but I'm sure in time you'll get there.
  4. Was wondering if some of the 35 cent variant collectors could help me out. I'm a Scooby Doo completist, and was aware a 35-cent variant of Scooby 1 existed. Haven't really sought one out but found the below eBay auction. Without really any knowledge of how difficult this book is with a 35 cent price on it, is this too much to pay? http://cgi.ebay.com/SCOOBY-DOO-1-CGC-8-5-RAREST-35-CENT-VARIANT_W0QQitemZ120337785520QQihZ002QQcategoryZ12589QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
  5. The results would HAVE to be confirmed. Otherwise you get shilled up prices on books that never exchanged hands. Do we really need GPA to report an ASM 89 9.4 selling for 2.5k? Or some of the more outlandish results for that matter. I always get a kick out of some of these CL auctions, where ppl bid up some random books to absurd levels and then the underbidder just disappears.. no where to be seen when a similar copy goes up for a fraction of the price.
  6. I read the first arc of this series finally and liked it. What color version options are out there for the set? Is there a one volume complete edition that is in color? Brian
  7. If that was the one that was on eBay at the starting bid of 50 dollars, did you notice in the description that the centerfold is loose on the book? I almost missed it the first couple times I read the description. Brian
  8. I rarely, if ever, see Hawkeye books. But there are a lot of oddball titles in that pedigree so they may be around and I just haven't seen them. Brian
  9. And that has what to do with your allegations? I'm not Jason so I'm not in the least bit uncomfortable. I'm quite happy with all my purchases from him. What has changed, however, is that my opinion of you dropped significantly when you started making allegations without any (available) proof. Whether you care or not makes no diff to me. Brian
  10. Better to have two sides to every witch hunt. All I ask is you provide something to back up these claims and you come up with nothing. If you have nothing (or can't give anything), don't make them? Brian
  11. And you have proof of this as well? Or should we chalk this up under the.. "someone told me but it's secret" file. Brian
  12. gotta love these forums. If it's not one thing, it's another. Brian
  13. I certainly did. He is out of town until Thursday so you probably won't hear back from until then. He asked that I didn't post his response. In a nutshell he says.. He doesn't read these forums and has no interest to. He doesn't press books, period. The DD 11 was sold as a 9.4 to a customer. The customer successfully resubmitted for a 9.6. Was later consigned to Jason and then later after that the customer told him to unlist it. Brian
  14. It is an open forum, but to assume that a lack of reply means that he's guilty is quite questionable. That only "justifiably" works in the court system, not an online forum. I will email him and give you his response. Brian
  15. I skipped most of the "We hate Jason Ewert" thread, but was curious if anyone emailed him for a response? You said that if "Ewert answered a query so openly" yada yada yada. Does this mean you've emailed him and asked or are you just assuming he won't reply because he doesn't do so on these boards? Brian
  16. They've probably already joined the club. Pressing has been around forever, not all pressed books are in CGC holders. Brian
  17. It doesn't necessarily mean you have to press to NOT sell them. I was speaking more about the fact that you don't have to slab a book to sell it. Raw books move all the time, are these just as likely to be pressed as CGC ones? I think so. It's the same idea; maximize grade, maximize money. Brian
  18. Yeh, cause the only people who press their books are the people who submit to CGC.. Brian
  19. Go for it. Best of luck to you. Hope you don't get any books with "undisclosed pressing". Brian
  20. I'm fine with a properly pressed book as well. Brian
  21. ASM 62 is the 2nd most common silver age ASM in high grade. ASM 64 is the most common. So it's not hard to get Brian
  22. Well, one of the rarest ASMs in 9.4 is 63. Know what it's surrounded by? The two most common books. 64 and 62. So just because one book in a run is really common, it doesn't mean that every book around it HAS to be equally or more common. Brian
  23. Nothing else strikes you as funny there? Maybe say... the fact that the first app of Spider-man is worth less points then the first issue in the title? Brian
