  1. I picked up this baby from a pharmacy that was closing when I was 10. I've repainted it as the original paint was peeling (maybe had lead?) but still looks pretty nice in blue. I've searched around online and haven't seen one like this before. Anyone know anything about this rack? Vintage or otherwise?

I don't have a webserver handy so here's some Google doc links with pics

No way man! that thing is the cats pajamas!!

    welcome to the boards :foryou:

  2. I found these scans and writeups of my Tec #39 from many years back. Reposting this for rsouxlja7 who is on the hunt for one. (If you find or have a copy for sale, shoot him a PM!)

Here's my copy of Detective #39. I love the cover, with Batman knocking the thug off the building, presumably to his death (last time you see a Tec cover like that for a looong time). Great color scheme on this one too.

The Batman story in Tec #39 is fantastic -- it reads much more like a pre-Robin story than a post-Robin one, with a Chinatown-based "Oriental hatchet gang" that has a nasty habit of burying hatchets in peoples' skulls. Batman saves the day by crushing the gang under a massive statue, killing them all (did I mention that this story is a touch violent?). Robin's involvement in the story is pretty minimal.

Jerry Siegel Spy story... nice art on this one...

I always like Fred Guardineer's art. (I believe he drew stories for both Action #1 and Detective #27... not bad!)

Finally, here's the other neat thing about this issue: a full-page ad for Batman #1.

I love the text blurb "This is a small reproduction of the cover" on these early house ads. (Guess they didn't want kids to be looking for a Batman #1 digest!)

Gorgeous!!! simply gorgeous! Makes me wanna grab some more early TEC's!! No wonder their so damn expensive

  3. sure hope theres not a lot of disappointed bidders. This guys photos had the images cropped so bad that you couldn't tell if any of the edges had chipping or tears, and why exactly would u do this unless of course you wanted your book to look prettier than it actually was

  4. S'long as a moderator is posting CBCS scans, I'm safe. Just came back from a wrist slap ( 2 days off ) for posting this CBCS scan in CG. :fear:

lol, I was wondering where that pic was that u posted. I wasn't aware though that u had your peepee slapped for doing that. Naughty boy (tsk)

  5. I know I'm gonna get beat up for these top 9 nominations, but

Weird Tales of the Future #8 is a pretty silly amateur art cover

Weird Mysteries #5 is an even bigger mystery as to why such a cheesy cover is so popular.

Mask 1??? Why?? Mask 2 is by far the better, brighter more artistic cover

    Mister Mystery 12 .. dumb

Mister Mystery 11 ..Just as dumb and it doesn't help have the mystery dude in a little circle on every book.

Dynamic #8 would actually be the best cover ever if it weren't for the name "DYNAMIC" at the top. It throws the whole book off

    Black Cat #50 crappy art

Horrific #3 Really? Who drew the cover? a 9 year old?

And lastly (this will probably get me banned from the forum) Crime Suspenstories 22.. There are tons of cooler EC covers than that book. I dunno, maybe if it showed guts and nerve endings dangling from her bloody stump?? Then I'd probably dig it more hm

oh! We should start a poll of lamest GA cover books. That'd actually be neat

Based on the above statements I must conclude that you are a Disney collector.

  6. multiple drivers I know make 6 figures

What parts of the country do they live/drive in?

How many years with the company?

What kind of hours per work week are they putting in?

And I believe an employee of Fed ex is also chimed in this thread

dats true. 14hrs a day, 5 days a week will pull u in that kinda dough, but trust me, u can forget about any sort of a social life (which is why I'm a comic nerd)(No time for chicks) :hi:

What good is money without time? (shrug)

I tell myself that on a daily basis, but trust me, it aint easy to walk away from albeit its tempting at times. The divorce rate is also pretty high as you'd imagine.

Both my spouse and I work in film ... up that to 6, sometimes 7 days a week and that's our average work week. The same can be said about that career. However, the people whom I've met that successfully managed to keep their relationships alive tend to be ones who date / marry within that field because they get it. Your average 'normal' working person just doesn't understand why you have to work those hours.

    Porno? :wishluck:

haha...no, we definitely wouldn't have to work those hours if we worked in porn.

    :roflmao:

Just saw this before my other reply. When you have the opportunity to make this type of coin...when its right there in front of you and all you have to do is go through the motions.......I have the type of personality where it would be hard not do it like R.B. as well.

You can always pull back on the hours in the future. Meanwhile in the now, pack away as much money as you can. You should absolutely be maxing out your QRP or PSP account. Kudos to you.

Oh Btw do you mind me asking is there a big difference in pay for the big rig Ground truck drivers vs. say the local route truck delivery driver's gigs? Thanks.

I can only speak for the doubles drivers, but I can't imagine package drivers making lousy money, but again I can't speak for them.

    Or chicks. lol

I was actually coming back to post that same thought. haha

yea, but as u get older, the magic V seems much less important than a good high grade superhero book. The superhero book doesn't require u to wine and dine it in order to acquire it and in the end it could cost you your entire collection.

or I'm not old enough to empathize.

    lol

    ^ This ^^

  12. Point of origin theft would be easily identified and discovered

I doubt many mid five to six fig salary fedex drivers or sorters would risk their employment, benefits, etc on a chance.

Mid five fig salary for a FedEx driver sounds right, but six fig for a driver??? Probably six for their pilots.

multiple drivers I know make 6 figures

Yes, working for the company I can personally vouch for this. As usual #FF0000]G.A.tor is right (tsk)

Now, about theft within our ranks. It is extremely rare for a theft to occur probably attributed to what #FF0000]G.A.tor had said, as we are compensated very well.

That being said, usually theft can occur in the holiday months when they hire part time help and and then it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out what can happen even with the best of vetting. I still say his book page will eventually show up.

Lastly, we have cameras in every nook and cranny here as you can imagine.
