  1. Glad to see the update, know that CGC understands the error they made and will be following proper grading procedure and assign these type of books the Qualified label. I don't want to travel down the road of how such high numerical grades were achieved, I trust the GLOD will do the job of setting evaluations where they should be regardless of grade assigned.
  2. Somewhat surprised there has been no capitulation on CGC's part, grading standards are clear on this, marry up a cover, get the Qualified green label. Ask Danny Dupcak....
  3. What a ridiculous stance to take with the only outcome damaged credibility. This isn't difficult, something was physically attached after manufacturing, it doesn't matter who added it, artist, writer, whoever, the correct grade status is green label.
  4. Yeah, this is not about the variant any longer it's about the blue label.
  5. Guess it's time to resub all those Atlas Eastern Color warehouse copies for Blue labels...right?
  6. I've supported over a dozen of the independent creator owned projects the last couple years on Indiegogo. Groken by Rocafort, Cyberfrog by EVS, Starlight Cats by Shane Davis, Graham Nolan's Alien Alamo, looking forward to Lopresti's Wrath of God and Art Thibert's next volume of Black & White. The focus is always great stories and great art and Isom looks to be a continuation of that and I'm looking forward to it.
  7. I'm probably going to be in the minority here with my assessment but the movie never met my expectations. I'm not saying it wasn't enjoyable or unwatchable, however: Hulk/Banner was a fail for me and completely distracting throughout the whole movie. I really wanted the Hulk Thanos rematch and this time I wanted to see the Hulk slip into the rage that would deliver us the "strongest one" phrase and have him inflict some serious physical damage. The Thor comedy. Unwatchable. Thor had just finally reached a "maturity" in Raganarok and powered up and made an impact in Infinity War and then he steps off the set of the Big Lebowski and onto Endgame? No. What a waste. Enjoyed Scarlet Witch cutting loose and dominating Thanos, granted he didn't have the gauntlet. I'll blame this all on Starlin, he gave us such a great story in Infinity Gauntlet it was never going to be surpassed on the screen.
  8. I don't fault Marnin for his pricing in this catalog simply because JP had already paved the way with his 2002 Milennium Catalog. JP certainly struck gold a year earlier with prices realized. As you look through these circa 2000 catalogs, the most interesting thing is the lack of 9.6 material
  9. I don't use tape, I load my books into a Mylite/Fullback combo upside down and pull the flap closed and insert it into a Archive Mylar.
  10. I was really surprised by the turnout for this show, and the quality of the material inside did not disappoint! Look forward to attending in the future
  11. This looks like a great show, definitely make the trip up from the Cape for this one.
  12. I picked up one other the previous night , a lower grade Journey Into Mystery
  13. Picked up this one, happy to add it to my pedigree run of Thor's. After watching that #165 nearly hit $4k, very thankful I picked up my 9.4 Suscha News copy a few years back. If that book is knocking on the $4k door now, what's the ceiling when Warlock actually appears on the big screen?
  14. I'm somewhat confused as to why CGC has not removed them as an "Authorized CGC Dealer" and severed the relationship.
  15. Well, this idea is well overdue and happily invited. I always thought it would be Mile High that would start the "rebellion" after all the years of moaning about costs versus sales. Nice to see Torpedo step-up. I hope it's outrageously successful. I gave up on SDCC way back in 2008. It's a great city to attend a show, however for those that have to travel in, after expenses it's nearly impossible to justify. Add in the ticket demand issues, overcrowding and the continually shrinking dealers in attendance, this show was long ago cut from my "must attend" list.
  16. Can't help you with any Vermont stores but it appears Concord NH is going to have a great show in April
  17. I never considered, even in 9.8, a book as common as Hulk #155 to achieve that type of number. I'm sure the final hammer result will inspire a few to press and resub their 9.6's
  18. What's the deal with Hulk #155 CGC 9.8 that finished at over $1300 at Heritage two weeks ago? With ten known 9.8 copies is the 1st Shaper the reason?
  19. I just noticed Amazon has X-Files seasons 1-9 in a Blu-ray box set for a December release date. Sorry if this was posted earlier in the thread.
  20. They may have bought Pittsburgh Comicon but it appears they will have future competition: http://3riverscomicon.com/
  21. Godzilla had a total budget of $225 million after marketing, the studio expectations were much lower than the current $477 million and have already given the green light for #2. http://www.boxofficemojo.com/movies/?id=godzilla2012.htm I guess I don't understand your reasoning why this movie was a weak link in the "summer" release schedule given the actual numbers available and studio expectations. This movie performed well above the studios best case scenarios, especially on the domestic front. Did you expect this movie to do better?
  22. Again if they are tired of them then why are the top 3 biggest worldwide box office movies of 2014 superhero movies? Can anybody answer that? What I think it is the non-comic book audience hasn`t grown tired of superhero films, but it`s the old school comic book audience themselves who are tired of them. For some reason the comic book audience who always wanted to be taken serious by mainstream isn`t enjoying how mainstream has taken to these characters. Remember the old slogan "Comic books aren't just for kids anymore!" Let`s be fair. Who bashes the superhero comic book films the most? The new non-comic book audience or old school comic book audience? I have a feeling some people are not liking that their comic books are now accepted big time by the mainstream audience. Kind of like an exclusive club not wanting new members. People who know these characters often bash the films because they do a terrible job of capturing these characters on screen. When you see a beloved character just mangled in a film (like me watching Garfield's ASM) it doesn't make you want to rush out to see the sequel. People who haven't read the comics for 25+ years may not have the same reaction. I thoroughly enjoyed DOFP, and I'm sure that this is partially due to the fact that I haven't read the comics nor am invested in the X-men as my childhood favorites. I'm getting a kick out of watching you jump from one cliched explanation to another for these underperformances though, and am on the edge of my seat to see which one is next. I am getting a kick out how no one can explain why the top three highest grossing pictures in the whole world are superhero movies! 1.Captain America: The Winter Soldier 2. Amazing Spider Man 2 3.X-Men: Days of Future Past If people are tired of them, then they must be really sick of the other genres even more. An undeniable fact is Marvel comic book characters are the hottest thing in mainstream movies. Mainstream loves them. This is what is going to happen next folks. Guardians of the Galaxy will do at least 500 million worldwide to break into the top 5 biggest grossing movies of the year, but we will still hear tired old stories from old school comic book fans who will say mainstream is tired of super hero movies. because the year isn't over and the other summer "blockbusters" fell even flatter: godzilla, how to train your dragon. as was earlier pointed out, this has been a pretty weak year for box office results. Godzilla did far better than was expected. It's currently sitting at number #5 domestic this year. http://www.boxofficemojo.com/yearly/chart/?yr=2014&p=.htm
  23. The character is not being knocked down, the plummet is a reflection of the poor execution of the director, writers and culminating with Garfield, who is not just a poor choice for Peter Parker but a below average actor to begin with.
