  1. I believe alot of his recent work has some digital elements to it.
  2. Yes, yes, and yes. Happens all the time in artist alleys. There is a whole facebook group dedicated to publicly disseminating how much people paid for art.
  3. I couldn't tell you. I go to cons mainly for the art nowadays. and art at this show was pretty minimal - unless all you wanted was a $200 liefeld deadpool scribble.
  4. i went Friday and sunday. Friday was a no mans land - super dead. sunday was surprisingly busy.
  5. If you were at the show looking for oa or commissions, this wasnt the show for you. The artist alley list was pretty bad.
  6. came for the comic art pictures but stayed for the conspiracy theories. keep them coming!
  7. memorable page from dark phoenix saga.
  8. I'd rank drivers for art collecting are 1 - nostalgia; 2 - character; 3 - artist; 4 - craft. seems like the path that most newbies take are sketches to commissions to affordable OA and ultimately to personal grail level nostalgia. given today's market prices and the amount of other things that take on ones time / money, veering into a collection that is focused on 'craft' without correlation to artist/character/nostalgia is a path that I haven't seen many take.
  9. Renee Witterstaett. Her contact is easily found if you google "michael golden rep".
  10. I had one a few years ago. Wanted a con sketch - he didnt finish it at the show. Wanted 1/2 upfront since it was laid out. Paid it and sweated it out - remembered the golden rule. Few months later emailed his rep and this followed with the package arriving to my house shortly. Commission came out amazing. All in a really good experience for me despite having some concern.
  11. Isnt 85 right in the middle of 90 and 80? Seems like a silly back and forth to me
  12. These are like 300 or 400 arent they? For that price im sure you can get one pretty easy. His rep is on the boards.
  13. fellas, love will find its way! if it's meant to be, it will be! the only thing debacle-y of this is the price that collectors or speculators are willing to pay for modern batman art.
  14. I'll add the alan moore written Batman Annual 11, and the Hurwitz / Maleev Clayface opus: The Dark Knight Vol. 4: Clay, as a couple more underhyped classics.
  15. i'd add crime alley scene for batman or anything associated with his origin.
  16. with commissions you rarely get what you paid for back. I would never get into the commission game thinking you will make money off of them.
  17. I'll throw out a few that aren't widely hyped, but to me are great combinations of story and art - Robin Year 1 & Batgirl Year 1.
  18. The king run hits a great stride after i am gotham. The recent series with catwoman has been particularly good. Janins artwork in the series is very well done. Snyders court was far and away the strongest of his run. I agree some of the other books were a bit tough to get through were it not for capullos art.
  19. Some pieces going really cheap right now. 20. expectations, communication, reputation, price, and method of payment all factor into how patient I am with a commission experience. seems like you were uncomfortable with the experience from the beginning so a refund was probably best for all. leniency with commissions sometimes results in good results but can also result in a lot of headaches.
  21. 3800 for a painted batman cover seemed right in todays market.
  22. AM best rating of A. Subsidiary of Global Indmenity Ltd, which is also A rated and publicly traded. From what I've heard of others, claims have been relatively hassle free.
  23. collectibles insurance is pretty easy and inexpensive. https://collectinsure.com/ I have read that safes are not good for storing paper.
