  1. I love this shelf. It's perfect for both storage and display. But also reminds me of a mix between a comic shop shelf and the areas where they would have long boxes to go though. Yet modernized. Too bad the store isn't around anymore. Now I need to find something similar.
  2. That's a really nice custom piece. I still have to decide which version of Ahsoka I want between the two from Hot Toys and the Sideshow statue.
  3. I've seen some people call the Mondo type of limited poster Mondos. But all they are, are large format screen prints or serigraphs. As wombat mentioned there are other galleries that also sell posters in the same format as Mondo these days. And they are easier to get than Mondo posters because they don't have the Mondo name or are open editions for a limited time period. Flippers aren't interested in that. Mondo isn't what they used to be a few years ago though. I haven't purchased a poster from Mondo in years. I do like the artist of that Man Thing poster. I remember there was a companion Swamp Thing poster as well. I thought about getting those. I'll probably eventually get a poster from the artist as he makes a lot of horror posters and did the art for the Trick R Treat vinyl record I own. I believe Mondo released a few larger editions that aren't screen prints. Long term recommendation is to store these prints flat as they are on a thicker paper and will be more difficult to flatten the longer you keep them in their tubes. Also the paper used to wrap the posters isn't acid free. Also for value go after the special variants like foil or glow in the dark editions. The popular properties. Or posters from popular artists like Tyler Stout, Olly Moss, Martin Ansin, or a few others. I would attempt to get those as soon as possible as they will go up and keep their value. Here are some places that might help. https://expressobeans.com/ This has a database on prints / posters with tracking sales. You can check for artists and see what was released. Although they don't list everything. Also a forum is there. But like many it isn't that active anymore. I would only lurk anyway and see what is released every week. Most probably moved to Facebook groups and they do private poster commissions there. You can check Instagram as well. But both are bad sites to me. I don't have an account and they don't work well. So I check if an artist has twitter or a personal site. It's good to subscribe get emails from whatever gallery be it Bottleneck, Hero Complex, Grey Matter, 1988, etc. to see what they release every week too. https://alternativemovieposters.com/ Another site with galleries of poster artwork and a place to purchase. We talked about limited posters and Mondo on the forum here. https://boards.cgccomics.com/topic/430484-comic-prints-limited-open-edition/ https://boards.cgccomics.com/topic/460863-mondo-event/
  4. I wish I could remember what happened to my old G.I. Joe comics. I have some left over. But I had a good run starting at the second print of #2. I still have to go through all the old covers. I know I stopped collecting when the series got kind of crazy and Cobra Commander got that silver armor.
  5. I'm about to join the G.I. Joe Classified club. I ordered the movie version of Scarlett from Snake Eyes Origins on discount. I saw some of the movie. I haven't finished it yet. But I doubt we will get a Hot Toys version of Scarlett from the movie. So the Classified figure will probably be the best version. I'll most likely keep the figure boxed. Love the artwork though.
  6. Looks like I need to add some covers to my collection. I'm behind on Heavy Metal. Some of their recent covers are nice too.
  7. I never knew about that Hughes Return of the Jedi cover. Time to get that one. I wish they would release that Absolute Hughes book. It seems like what should be his best stuff keeps getting delayed or cancelled. No All Star Wonder Woman either. They should release whatever he put together of that in a book or as part of his Absolute book. I can't remember if I posted it already or someone else. But a favorite is the Hughes Overstreet cover. I have the hardcover edition. I think that was the last Overstreet I purchased.
  8. I can't remember the how or why. I do remember posting in that first comic shop topic around here. I was attempting to recall that comic shop but couldn't. Yet I did post what was probably my first comic. And I remembered some of the old mall bookstores that are no longer around that sold comics.
  9. We'll see what kind of company Hasbro is now. They added three Cobra figures and stickers to the Skystriker campaign at the end for free. Let's see if they can add the two crew members to finish off the package. That would be a nice Christmas present for all the backers. Like I said, if this Skystriker was in stores I would have picked up 2 or 3. But it makes me sad because it shouldn't be like this. This did get me though. I mentioned the first wave. I don't think anyone posted about the second wave unless I missed it. I'll get them when they are released. I can't resist this lineup. Still no Scarlett but I bet she's going to be in the third wave.
  10. I've been watching the Skystriker project. Some points: 1. It should be sold in stores. No reason for this not to be on store shelves. 2. It's too much. At most it should be $100 or so. One of you guys mentioned the price of the original back in the day. The video below even points out that with the Skystriker and other projects, they include free figures at the end to help push it over the backer number. So they are making a vast profit and can't even include those extra items like Scarlett from the beginning. 3. It sets a bad precedent for future vehicles. I wish it didn't succeed. It seems like a few thousand people were waiting till the last day. I'm not fond of Kickstarters. I only did a few and stopped as most of those projects were eventually released to stores. But I don't know about these Hasbro projects. And I really dislike it when big successful companies do a Kickstarter type project. But now Hasbro sees how much they can over charge and collect interest on money from a select group of people. I would be shocked if they made The Flagg. It would be like $1500+ through their Kickstarter / Haslab. I remember one of you guys getting me with an April Fool's joke for The Flagg some years ago. I wanted a Resolute line with the Flagg. But the people running Hasbro are only interested in making a large profit off a small amount of collectors it seems and going on youtube to pander to those people. It really sucks. I would have purchased a few of these if they were around $100 with all the figures in stores. I'm not giving a big company $230 and waiting till mid 2023. This is the video that makes some good points about Hasbro and their projects.
  11. Damn this sucks. I saw one of you guys post a picture of the softcover a while back. I read about the hardcover probably here or on MyComicShop and put it on my list thinking it would be an easy pickup later on. 500 is usually a good number of copies for a hardcover comic related book. I've seen lower runs that are easy to get. Well you can find a book restorer to fix the binding. I had a few fixed in the past.
  12. That's funny. I'm not on Instagram. I would check artists on occasion but that site is so bad that they will only let me check an artist or two before attempting to force me to make an account. And even then I could only see a few rows of images.
  13. Looks like Heritage has a Part 2 Anime auction coming up. I'll go over the listings soon. I guess it didn't take long for them to find more cels.
  14. I'll play along. 1. Spectre - Yes this isn't a typo. 2. Casino Royale 3. No Time to Die 4. Quantum of Solace 5. Skyfall And for reference. Favorite Bond Actor List. 1. Sean Connery 2. Timothy Dalton 3. Roger Moore 4. Pierce Brosnan 5. George Lazenby 6. Daniel Craig Looking forward to the reboot. But I think the series with the current production team might be unable to make anything better than an action movie Bond at this point.
  15. This can't be a good thing as a bunch of people will just buy multiples of modern games in the hopes they will be valuable 30 years from now. Really any sealed collectible could get this sort of valuation. We'll just have to see how the supply is in the future I guess. I wonder if this sealed thing is happening with records and CDs? Remember in the early days of music CDs some came in those long boxes? I believe I still have a Star Wars set in the long box. Of course opened though.
  16. Anyone see these upcoming G.I. Joe figures? I don't get it though. These aren't from Hasbro but Super7. They cost $55 per figure. And it's a pre-order figure line with orders arriving in the Spring of 2022. The pre-order will be open for one month and that will be all the figures they produce. So this is an adult figure line. But still it sucks for people who will want to wait to see how far the line will go. I don't see why they didn't include a female character for Cobra and the Joes. They have to know that Sideshow couldn't even make a Scarlett figure. They should have started with Scarlett and Duke or Snake Eyes. Then Cobra Commander and Baroness. Or start with six figures instead of four. Still with basically a year per line I assume. This will take far too long to finish any sort of decent line up. And too much as well. They are making smaller smaller figures with basically the same design. But I'm probably nostalgic for the old Toys R Us setup when you would see basically all the figures in one place. And it was just a matter of having the money to get all of them. The good thing is this gave me an idea on how to do a future G.I. Joe line. But Hasbro would probably never do it. They do have a new cartoon supposedly coming out next year. But everything is just all over the place with G.I. Joe. I would be surprised if it's as good as Resolute. Check statue collectors on youtube. I believe a bunch of them have lights with those display cases.
  17. I love that water base for display. I guess I need to get an Aircraft Carrier now. This setup convinced me. Unless Hasbro will release a modern one or a re-release. Which I don't see as I just don't get how they are handling G.I.Joe these days. But these limited inventory figures keep selling out and many going to scalpers. So obviously a good number of collectors don't care yet. And Hasbro doesn't care either. I've seen posts on Hisstank where people say they are about to get into a fight with people over figures at Target. But I've yet to see one on youtube yet. Things will change eventually though. They usually do in situations like this. Mondo posters were hot years ago with their artificial limit on posters. Immediate sell outs going to flippers. Now Mondo hasn't released a good poster in years. I'm surprised they are still around.
  18. There were still a bunch of items that I was tracking which ended up at reasonable prices. Seems like the big name pieces were going for high prices. The Akira and Ghilbi pieces. Those are going to the people who will most likely use those as investment pieces in the future for a select group of people. Not many will pay over $20,000 for an Akira cel and background. And some were over $50,000. It's also possible that the pricing is because of the Heritage audience. I saw a Ghost in the Shell background painting on ebay a while back and it didn't reach the price of a cel that Heritage just sold. So one of a kind versus what should be a good number from an animated scene. Of course, you never know what happened to all the cels from that scene. But still. Where there is one there should be others out there. We'll see what comes out in the future because of this auction. More inventory for animation should be a good thing.
  19. Values, no clue. But cover pictures, yes. I found a site a while back that had scans of all of them.
  20. I just read that they have a Ghibli Fest coming up this October with the movies screening in theaters. I might check them out then. Provided everything is ok with this virus situation. They are talking about a Delta variant now. What we need is a closed off virus free town. Something like that Night Shamalan TV show with town enclosed in the mountains. I wonder about these Akira cels. I'll check today's prices later on. I'm sure it's the backgrounds pushing the prices. The one I mentioned that is fading is already over $20,000 I believe. I wonder if it's some Hollywood type or the Japanese studio buying these back? Unless some people really have money to burn. It kind of concerns me about what a really nice scene would go for. I would probably just go for one of those limited reproduction cels rather than pay a whole bunch of money for a faded cel. Unless the background was really nice. Although, I think I saw a Disney cel restoration video before. So maybe people are restoring Japanese cels too and I just haven't seen it yet.
  21. No shipping problems for me. It's a generalization but people packing stuff from Japan to the United States do a really good job. I always choose EMS or another one that only takes a week or so to deliver. So that leaves less time for the Postal Services to mess things up. I think EMS is the best for International mail as well. I saved a bunch to watch in Heritage's auction. Some Akira cels and backgrounds are going for a lot. One on the motorcycle that seems a bit faded. But is still getting attention. I need to watch that movie again. I remember only liking the first part with the motorcycle chase. It got kind of crazy after that. I just checked wiki and the movie came out in 1988. I thought it was in the 90s as that's when I saw it. I guess Hollywood gave up on the movie version for now. Especially after Ghost in the Shell flopped. I would like a good cel and background from that one. Maybe more will turn up in the future when people see the totals and since it's the first anime auction from Heritage. There are of course a ton of shows. Just need the materials.
  22. Thanks for the images. I remembered that I had that Conan the Barbarian movie magazine when I was young. Need to pick up another copy and go over those issues. Cats are odd. Some won't even let you read a comic. But then you get Kate Beckinsale's cat that puts up with a crazy amount of stuff.
  23. Thanks. I didn't know they made a Vampirella box. I've seen a few others but usually not for titles I collect or I didn't like the box artwork. That's a brave man. My pet almost took my finger off once.
