  1. Errr....you don't have to do anything. BTW...the potential 9.6 won't be for sale unless my other copy grades that high.
  2. Yeah...banner likes to dump my rejects eventually! Greggy - is your 9.6 the top in the census - seems like it is... I've ended up with about 6 of your former books now - just keep dumping them on me, people! They're sweet books and I'll be keeping them for a long time! Jayman - that DC Super Giant (Unexpected) is another fave of mine. I've had a few chances at that one recently, but they've slipped through my fingers. Hopefully I'll land a copy soon! Also - the Ghosts (#18) and Unexpected (#152) issues you posted are very, very nice!!!! It's one of the few in 9.6. I know banner sold another 9.6 WP in the past. I guess you still have my GS books. Gave up on those due to the tougher modern grading. I'm grading one of my Super DC Giant S-23 now and may grade my lower grade one eventually. Expect at least a 9.4 and probably better on the better one.
  3. But how many books can you identify as a pedigree without being told? From a scan, I'm not sure I could spot any, other than those with distinctive writing (e.g., Church, WM). Lame war books. Where's the OAAW 1, 81 or 83?

  5. Thanks, nice to see my former DC Special 4 back into a new collector's hands. Here's my 9.6 WP Western Penn copy. And no, the top right isn't damage...damn optical illusion!
  6. An excellent suggestion. Now, who was Mylite again? Is he in the story? It's been so long...
  7. Wise guy, huh? Well, I COULD have mentioned the "looking more and more like Don Knotts" contest! The original has more style!!!!!!!!! Now NIP IT!!!!!!!!!!
  8. It's my book. I can see a BC non-breaking crease on the BC. This appears to be the most material defect. FC looks great! Right you are Greggy, I did not see the Could the dust shadow have been the big flaw?, does not seem all that bad in the scan. Ze- Nope, it's not the dust shadow. Structurally, it's a 9.4/9.6 if it wasn't for the approx. one inch non-colour breaking crease on the BC.

  10. Mainly because one or two won't cut it. Would be good to compare to the BA Horror collectors here. If even ONE has a white logo it would be telling. Also - even if all books had the same color - it would not be an indicator of being intentional but maybe just too much trouble/cost to change once the press run starts. Whichever way it goes -I think it is worth pursuing and unlike some GA type questions, this may still be answerable! ::edited for last two paragraphs and some spell checking:: Nope...mine is the same as yours so
  11. Although slightly to the concept of DC bronze collecting, I want to address your point about why I tend to only slab 100 pagers that I feel are 9.4 or better. It's simple economics because I do tend to upgrade whenever fiscally possible. Therefore, I have to be aware of the potential resale value of some of the books that I have upgraded. In the past, when CGC first started and I was grading basically all my nice Marvels for resale, I wasn't that concerned about the 9.4 threshold, as I was mainly grading Silver Age books bought long ago so I wasn't worried about getting my money back. The CGC market was much hotter to the lesser grade books a couple of years ago. It has slowed considerably so that's why I have to be so picky. The fact that I am slabbing DCs mainly doesn't help, as most of the buyers are Marvel fans. Hope this explains my rationale.
  12. I have them all but not are slabbed. Plus, I only slab copies that I think will get 9.4 or better.
