  1. Some kid was going to a LCS, he needed money for some guitar amps. I made an offer on his books, and got these.
  2. Finally had time to put some purchases from the NYCCCON, all purchased from Stephen Ritter. Books from the Don Rosa Collection Bowling Green
  3. Nice grab who did you buy it off of, if you don't mind sharing, and at what grade. God I am nosey. Purchased from Stephen Ritter, who has a bunch of pedigrees, Probably a 9.2.
  4. Got this at the NYCCON. Don Rosa Collection
  5. These are from NYCCON. Don Rosa Collection Bowling Green
  6. Two purchased from a board member at the NYCCON.
  7. Did you try Graham Crackers, him and Harley split that large war collection they got in. Grahams has the better prices, but Harley cherry picked the better boks and keys.
  8. If you guys were interested in what mr Joe Kubert looks like now, this pic was taken from the NYCC. It appears Mr. Kubert doesn"t really like his picture taken. Oh well. [/img]
  9. Welcome back Shep, hope all is well. Dmac
  10. who is Brad Savage ??? Brad Savage was anger management out of control, so much that he would rip up his own books. He mostly sold all new stuff at sky high prices, if a book was hot and fairly new and hot, he would have it. Lo and behold if a kid came over looking for that book and Brad had high price on it (which was always), and the kid turned down Brad's price, that would set him off. Parents would come over and get confrontational, and it would make other buyers steer away. Sometimes he would just berate convention goers for not buying his stuff, out aloud, not many organizers could not handle him. He was his own worst enemy, so in a nut shell ( pun intended) that was Brad Savage.
  11. Nice books Shep thanks for sharing like that #182.
  12. What cool story, congrats on getting your childhood book. The collection from Stephen Ritter is excellent, i saw the books at the NYCC. It's almost like getting your book off the shelf all over again.
  13. Where the heck is this LCS and I can't believe the sweet copies you've found recently. It'mind boggling to hear you found a GIC 86, 108 and 110 at the same LCS. Nice Pick-ups you lucky bugger!! (thumbs u :applause: Thanks everyone for the kudos, the guy who owns the store said these were part of a collection where the owner stored these books in an attic. So some of the books are not in the best shape, but the price is always right. He also charging me last years guide for the books, and he under grades the books. Last but not least, he still has some more books for sale.
  14. Some recent LCS purchases. [/img] [/img] [/img] [/img] [/img] [/img] [/img] [/img]
  15. Scored some books from LCS, will post them tonight.
  16. Seriously, this bullshiitt has gone too far. http://cgi.ebay.com/OUR-ARMY-AT-WAR-83-1ST-TRUE-SGT-ROCK-1959-GD-1-8-2-0_W0QQitemZ360045003989QQihZ023QQcategoryZ14213QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem That near mint beauty came from my last ebay sale. It sold for $260. I was very pleased with it, obviously, but my beater GIC 87 only got about $150. Mind you, that had extra staples in it, so.... The fuel for these crazy prices is most definitely coming from us, the collectors. Sorry, I should add that the speculator/investor have now joined the fruckus. Once the word got out that war books were undervalued, more people started buying. The high prices due to the speculator/investor should really just stop at high grade copies and keys. It is pretty amazing to see some of the prices that these books are getting, but if you search, you will still find some deals. The non-key books are readily available, for the most part, in lower grades and with very affordable prices. The semi-keys are picking up extremely fast and genuine high grade copies seem to go up into the stratosphere. I do feel for the collector who is still missing some of the higher priced books, as I feel these have nowhere to go but up. Patience is a key, that and also hoping someone lists them incorrectly on eBay. Andy Just wondering, maybe you guys can give feedback. What would you consider high grade in war books? My thought is 8.0 - 9.2, most anything above that is unattainable, if not already available. Looked up some analysis on the census, it seems that 8.5 is the highest average. Any thoughts?
