  1. Totally agree. Those EndGame rumors would make FF 48, 49 & even 50 skyrocket.
  2. I believe Avengers 1 is the biggest bargain key out there and is poised for tremendous growth.
  3. You can love or hate his signature on a book. I grew up with the guy through comics as my storyteller and I enjoyed getting in line to meet my idol. It was worth every second. I got a chance to say hi and a few words and he held my comics in his hands. All of my Stan signed comics are my prized possessions. I don't think I will part with them but if life circumstances force me to than I will. The memory of waiting to meet him will remain no matter what. Stan fans will understand what I'm writing in their own unique way. That makes it money well spent.
  4. Truly sad but great to remember this great storytellers amazing impact on me and all of us.
  5. Both great books but FF48 will be the bigger Grail and the better buy right now.
  6. Will be a bargain the first time we see Adam on the big screen.
  7. It's all subjective. Jermaine loves the cover for 48. Others love the cover for 49. I love both covers. If I had to choose one it would be 49. Action, drama, color, power... but I ain't going to down the cover for 48 to make my case for 49. Both are amazing.
  8. I hear and agree with a lot of your arguements but If you check the prices, it ain't quite such a cheap alternative anymore. 48 is a mega grail. 49 is about to become one. And I am a serious Galactus collector.
  9. I hear and agree with a lot of your arguements but If you check the prices, it ain't quite such a cheap alternative anymore. 48 is a mega grail. 49 is about to become one.
  10. And finally the cameo question. FF48 is a Galactus cameo. An amazingly awesome cameo that is better than IH 180 as a cameo. The name on the cover, the story based on his arrival.... but still a cameo. FF48 will always be the one to own but FF49 will become an even more important grail that has to be owned along with FF48.
  11. And a lot of talk about Hulk 180 and 181. Yes, there are some interesting comparisons with the cameo comparison. However these are way different characters from much different time periods. In a rational world FF 48 & 49 should be worth much more than Hulk 180 & 181 but the comic market is not always so rational right? Hulk 181 has always had its detractors and people screaming its price will fall. And year after that price keeps rising. I believe the same will happen to FF48 and 49.
  12. Both 48 and 49 are grails. Amazing covers, amazing stories, amazing art. Lee and Kirby. Silver Age royalty grails in every way possible. Right now the prices are higher but I believe these will be considered bargain prices by next year. You want proof, than just look at the prices that were being tossed around as "high" when this thread first started. Not so "high" any more.
  13. Have to agree. Spec will be poor. Lots of nice covers but most will be dollar books in a few months. I like The Kirby cover for nostalgia and I love almost any Galactus cover but the story and art were not my cup of tea. I'm a hopeful fan so will give it some time.
  14. Great story Sweet Lou. Sell that MS 13 9.4 and you can get several MS 12 9.4's. MS 13 is absolutely impossible to find in 9.4. Is that the highest graded? That's a nice problem to have.
  15. Crazy price that no one would pay but.... there is no other 9.8 on Ebay.
  16. Check the prices and see who doesn't care. And check Iron Man 55 too! And Strange Tales 110. And Olsen 134!
  17. It definitely looks like Kirby's sig. Kirby's signature probably adds $75-100 to a comic like that which generally has little value, so not worth authenticating. Now Kirby's sig on one of his keys can add a huge premium to a book. Any #1 or megakey could add hundreds or thousands but it will depend on the key.
  18. Yes, Stan signs a lot of items but you have to factor in he is the largest icon in our hobby and now the movie business. Collectors always seem to overestimate the supply of a signature until the person is not signing any more. I believe Stan Lee items will have a significant premium on any key that he wrote. God bless the man with all his recent people problems but even at a robust 96 he will not sign forever. If it were up to me and an unlimited budget, I would have Stan sign most of my comics.
  19. Marvel Super Heroes 13 continues to climb and what makes this interesting is very few eBay sellers are listing high grade copies. I know high grade is scarce based on census data but it seems like collectors are holding on believing there are more gains to be made. There is only one 9.0 on eBay priced at $6k and one 8.0. It's both crazy and cool to see the a Grail exploding like this.
  20. If you read the entire thread you will notice a lot of people saying the prices had already peaked and would not go up again. They did indeed go up again and significantly. The rarity of the comics is becoming evident to collectors now that Captain Marvel will be the star of Avengers 4 so my assumption is the price of this hard to find (in high grade) book will continue to rise and because of the expected buildup to Avengers 4 this book will also be surrounded by massive hype that will come from the teasers and trailers from two mega movies and the Marvel PR machine. If you own it, you are very happy. If you don't get one.
  21. This comic is now white hot and getting hotter every day. If you had picked one up when this thread was started you would have at minimum doubled your money. As this book is exceedingly rare in high grade (based on census data and notorious square binding) i believe this will be going even higher. A new movie in 2019 and a starring role in Avengers 4 could just be rocket fuel on the fire.
  22. Sign up for Marvel Digital Unlimited. You get access to the entire FF run and yes 35-67 is a master class in brilliant comic writing and art. It loses a little due to passage of time... but not much.
  23. Have to agree that music is a critical element to help put you in the seat and also help put you in the seat again as a repeat viewer in the theatre and eventually with Blu-Ray sales. How does it get you in the seats? Someone mentioned the Thor trailer. When I heard that music agains those visuals I got instant goose bumps and I knew i was seeing that movie. How does it get you back? We respond to emotional connections and music does that better than almost anything. Anyone who sat in a theatre as kid and watched Star Wars with John Williams score knew there was something spectacular happening with the combination of visuals and thrilling sounds. Star Wars redefined movie success with the amount of repeat customers seeing the movie 3 and 4 times not just once or twice. Great music sells products, movies, and even relationships. It's a powerful tool.
