Have you considered divorce NoMan?
He would then have to change his screen name to NoWoman

I for one would love a show that was simply comics, toys and OA. Ive stopped attending shows on Saturdays altogether due to cosplayers blocking off aisles posing for pictures at choke points on the show floor.
This.

That's a beautiful copy. Wish mine looked half as nice as this beauty.

Had a great time once again. Thanks for putting on another great show, gents. Glad the snow was a non-event.

How did you 8 year olds pronounce Cyclops and Phoenix?
I pronounce it "Welcome To The Boards!"

They pronounced that one "Jeezus Kriest". I guess I'm used to that one by now.

Ok htf do they pernounce it in the cartoon?
Something like "Raish al Gool". Never sounded right to me. And by "the cartoon", I specifically mean Batman: The Animated Series from the 90s.

You can all pronounce Submariner however you want and I'll keep calling Ra's al Ghul "Roz Al Gool". The way it's pronounced in the cartoon sounds dumb to me.

Do you still say "Sign Key Wicks" in your head?
No, but it took a long time to break the habit.

"Sienkiewicz" is the one that threw me for a loop as a youngster. It's funny now but I thought it was pronounced "Sign Key Wicks" instead of "Sin Kev Itch"

For what it's worth, Mike's Index lists Mad About Millie 1-16 and Annual 1 (actually, Queen-Size Special! #1)

For me, those back to back issues were all about the story. From the first knock-down, drag-out confrontation between the two most powerful monstrous mortals in the Marvel universe to the first phenomenal face-off between the two most powerful superhero teams, these issues were everything that propelled Marvel to becoming kings of the Silver Age.
Agreed. Regardless to my opinion of Roussos's inks, FF25 & 26 were an event. In many ways, I see this story (and the threads that were picked up in Avengers) as the precursor to Marvel's later big events such as Secret Wars, Infinity Gauntlet, etc.

I love the Steranko story in this one. Sweet copy.
I know it doesn't work for all titles, but to keep things simple in my Marvel collection, I consider 12¢ & 15¢ books Silver and then Bronze officially starts with the 20¢ titles. But really, Bronze starts creeping in during the 15¢ transition period. Obviously, this is totally just my opinion. -
The exact end of the Silver Age and start of the Bronze Age is up for debate, but I think it's safe to say to that a 20¢ picture frame cover is Bronze, but that 1968 Cap Marvel #1 is most definitely (late) Silver

Get out your spears. While I love all first 100 issues of the FF, #25 and #26 were never at the top of my list. I was even a bit disappointed when I read them. The story is just fine, but George Roussos inks on those books really put me off, especially in #25. He’s not the best inker for Kirby. I find the earlier issues he did less bothersome; #25 just didn’t click for me.
I'm a big fan of Thing/Hulk fights and I've loved FFs 25&26 since I first read them as a kid in the Fireside Superhero Battles book, but you're right on about Roussos's inks. Very crude in my opinion. Would have looked so much better if Sinnott was inking the book regularly by then.

Daredevil Omnibus vol 1 just came out this past week. I'm a big fan of those big books. This one has DD 1-41, Annual 1 and FF 73, plus all of the letters pages and lots of other extras. Good stuff and good way to read the old stories without having to handle 50+ year old books.

Just a little over a month left to save up my $$$. Looking forward to this show.

I'm bumping this thread because it's awesome and it should be on the first page of Silver on the new boards.
-
Looks okay so far, but it'll take a little getting used to.

Welcome to the boards!

The early superhero covers may be more campy than classic, but I really enjoy many of them. Like #103 and this one:
Paste-Pot Pete AND a circle 12¢
Where are the modern Bernie Wrightson,Adams,Byrne,Miller,Perez,Smith,Starlin and McFarlane today?

Alex Ross, Bryan Hitch and John Cassaday are all excellent cover artists and storytellers. Also surprised that Alan Davis hasn't been mentioned. Classic + modern blended expertly.
