  1. If the question is ..which will be the most expensive book in 2 years...then the answer obviously is 110. However, if the question is (which I think it is) which will increase the most in percentages...then I think they are both good bets. 110 is first appearance so will always be more worth...However 169 is first issue in own title (like asm 1) and has a phenomenal cover. So in terms of percentage appreciation...hard to say which is a better deal.
  2. There is a lot of hype on H1. It is, however, not because anything happened that made Hulk more popular with the audience..it is hype because a HG copy sold for a lot.
  3. 0.5- $2.5K 1.0- $3K 1.5- $4K 1.8- $4.5K 2.0- $5.5K 2.5- $6.5K 3.0- $7.5K 3.5- $9.5K 4.0- $10K 4.5- $12K 5.0- $15K Until recently it was pretty easy to remember prices. Just double everything: E.g. a 1.5 would cost $3.333, a 2.0 would cost $4.444, a 3.0 would cost $6.666. This rough guide worked up until around 6.0. Then it was double plus a bit. Now it double plus a bit and then another bit...
  4. Dormammu is the key villain I want to see. Come on Marvel - do this right. And after GOTG I have high hopes that this will be done excellently.
  5. Just had a look at eBay. Of the 10 highest graded copies only ONE has OW pages. The rest all have lesser PQ. OW is hard for this book. W is near impossible.
  6. Great eye appeal on this copy ! I hope it's a keeper. It would be difficult to replace a White Pager. This is special. And white too... Even OW is very hard for bb28
  7. I'm a bit weary about Braniac because eventhough he is a really good actor the last time we saw Braniac in a Superman movie... it was toe-curlingly bad.... I think I would much prefer some of the villains from JLA 1-20 - there are many cool ones to chose from.
  8. I'm looking so much forward to Ray Palmer being introduced. He is one of the most multi-faceted DC characters and DC better not spoon him up!!
  9. Superman 2 for sale it seems: http://www.ebay.com/itm/SUPERMAN-2-1939-CLASSIC-COVER/110944486077?_trksid=p2047675.c100011.m1850&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D24641%26meid%3D8616301400469838339%26pid%3D100011%26prg%3D10413%26rk%3D4%26rkt%3D10%26sd%3D151259763834
  10. True. Competition between the two (beyond for the sake of improving quality) is at best ridiculous fanboy'ery akin to football holigans...and at worst detrimental to the hobby. Any comics fan should be happy if DC or Marvel has success and create great content.
  11. Spot on. It doesn't work so well outside of that particular period. A knowledge of history is sometimes beneficial.
  12. I don't get it.... sounds like they wanted Rosie O'Donnell wrapped in an American Flag...
  13. There is so much wrong with this I don't even know where to begin. 1. Knee high metal plates to cover her skinny legs. 2. High heels to make her look taller 3. Not even a hint of red, white or blue. If I was American I would be insulted. 4. Upside down tiara or head band 5. Her top made to look she has a bigger breast size. etc...... Xena the Warrior Princess had a better outfit. these seem to be observations more than faults in the costume it's pretty clear by now that they were never going to go bright and colourful i have zero problems with the costume, you can tell who it is so it has fulfilled it's purpose i don't see anything wrong with the outfit. Same here.. It looks good. Better than I expected.
  14. Ray Palmer? WOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOW!!!!! Will the Atom feature here? I diddn't hear that before... would be so cool. Atom is one of the most complex personalities in the DC univers.
  15. 11 posts since 2005 - and you come out of the word work to point that out for #12! You are totally correct. I'm sorry, I just meant more mainstream-bigger flicks like "Walk the Line," since 2005. Not really fair to give him a face slap for that.... now he might not post for another year...
  16. Don't be too sure. People act like they do when they go to Vegas when they go to SDCC.....they tend to get a little starry eyed and reckless with their money. Plus there is something to be said for actually being able to hold an awesome mega key in your hand and not just seeing a scan of it on your computer. Impulse buying can certainly be a factor and dealers need to mark up somewhat to pay for their travel expenses and their space. -J. Impulse buys are one thing but paying double market? Most people aren't going to do that. I've been surveying ST #110's around the room. Found a few reasonably prices ones - aggressive, meaning towards the upper end, but still reasonable. Others? 2 times what they are actually selling for right now. 6.0 copies for $4000. Some dealers are having a hard time replacing keys so they are just marking them up high with a 'take it or leave it', non negotiable price. And believe me when I tell you that some of the prices are absolutely non negotiable. Zero. And it's always been that way for SD (meaning, strong prices) but it seems to be amplified this year. 4000 for a 6.0 is a bit rich right now, but it might be 2015 prices. You think the book is going to almost double in price after already going up 500% in two years? If you think about it... that it has gone up 500% in the last two years alone... isn't that really a plausible reason why it might go up almost 100% in the coming year? You're right, if the movie is really good it might give AF #15 a run for it's money. 4000 for a 6.0. Do you really think that is AF15 level? I think you need to get a subscription to GPA my friend.

  18. If Marvel plays it right Dr Strange could be their next big thing. Rely on the magical Harry Potter crowd which now have nowhere to go after those sequels have stopped. And also let's remember that Kirby and Ditko only made two major super-heroes... and now it is Dr Strange's turn!!!

  20. Deadpool - hands down. It is also pretty clear that Marvel wants him to be the next big thing (after Spidey). For example, in the latest big hit Marvel game... MArvel LEGO Super-heros... it has all the marvel heroes... Spidey... Iron-man.. Thor.... But the main character is...... Deadpool. Millions and millions of kids around the globe see Deadpool as the ultimate Marvel super-hero now.
  21. First off, page quality will sometimes be telling information for the condition of the interior covers. Books with toasted interior covers receive significant numerical downgrades, as they do for toasted front and back covers. Second, saying something over and over doesn't make it any more right than it was the first time it was said. At the least, it can be agreed that there are many long-time collectors who (i) seek out books with superior page quality designations, (ii) pay more for them, and (iii) notice that others pay more for them as well. ...and it can also be said that there are at least as many collectors who do not. I am struggling to understand why this fact seems to trouble some folks. -J. It doesn't. Your insulting collectors who disagree with your personal stance and insistence that page quality doesn't affect pricing do. Due respect namisgr, I don't believe I have insulted anybody, at least not directly. As I said a few posts back, some folks think they should pay more, some don't. The divide keeps prices fairly consistent for the books in grade, so to each his own my friend. -J. Statistically speaking it is very likely there would be a relationship between PQ and price - if "some people will pay more and other will not". In order for there to not be a relationship we would need either noone to want to pay a premium, or around the same amount of people to pay a premium for better PQ to be be countered by about the same amount of people wanting to pay less for better PQ.
