I'm in the same boat, trying to be patient with what is clearly an insurance and legal process at this point. They have my (expensive) book, can't tell me if it's now restored, can't tell me what the new grade might be, can't tell me when anything will be resolved, can't tell me if I'll get my money back, can't seem to answer any of my questions, no matter how simple. I've been on the boards for 22 years and have appreciated CGC for all they do, warts and all. But if I'm screwed on this book somehow (i.e., not made whole in a reasonable and timely manner), there will be hell to pay. Every day and week that passes, they are mounting frustration with an important group of people -- those who have been harmed by a scammer taking advantage of a faulty holder process and bought it with trust. At least they should have their leadership letting people know what's actually going on in a general sense. Back to waiting with patience... Dan

I've put in my seven bids early...have six auctions of my own going as well. My rule of thumb is seeing everything at least at 50% of market halfway through the auction to predict a pretty much market results. Art, however, can go through the roof in the final 30 seconds; comics are more predictable. Really hoping I win a couple pieces I'm watching, although I've noticed (anecdotally) in the past that Feb results are usually strong across the board. Dan

I pegged the X-Men #102 splash within a wide $60-$90k range, with me tapping out with a bid of $55k (never got to make that bid, however, as it went to $60k and beyond pretty fast), so $78k felt solid to me. BUT -- if someone posted it for sale at $90k and gave me six months to pay it off, I might jump at it. Great splash. Dan

Agreed -- always sobering when a fine artist passes. I loved Giffen's inking on the 70's Defenders run, and REALLY need to find a splash page that shows off his style. So memorable. RIP to another wonderful artist, Dan

Finally saw this and really enjoyed it. Margot Robbie can really act, and the goofy awesomeness of both Ryan Gosling and Simu Liu made me smile. Surprisingly poignant at times as well. A- Dan

I think they'll do that, but they will usually offer advances on items in the 40-60% range, not the full amount (since they don't know what the next auction will hold). So if you won three books for $1000 and wanted them to appear in the next auction, I'm guessing they'd advance you $500 or so and expect the rest asap. Dan

Hi everyone -- I'm late to the party here, but my condolences as well to Jon's family and friends on his passing. He was indeed a giant of the hobby with a extraordinary passion for comics/comic art and for the history they held (and told). I only got to know him in some depth when his books hit auction, but I committed myself to buying something from his collection (below) that -- despite my penchant for buying and selling and buying and trading and buying, etc. -- I have in my SA key collection today. I doubt I'll ever part with it, as the brightness and color strike are fantastic. RIP Jon. Dan

I still like Comiclink for buying and selling (mostly buying these days), as Jon Signorelli has been a superb contact for many years. Also, white-paged keys tend to do well there, so I've had no complaints with sales thus far. That said, this summer I did two sales threads here on the boards and everything sold. Price it right and you can save all the commissions by doing the work here, especially for $1-$5000 books. Really big stuff probably demands an auction house. Dan

Hey all -- Thanks to the OP for this thread and for all the responses...so fun to hear how everyone organizes their collections. I have focused in on about 22 of the Marvel SA keys for my permanent collection, which means that I can't go HG on most of them. So I ignore the number in the corner and look instead for three things: white pages, clean covers, and quality of production (centering, registration, brightness, staple placement, etc.). So my collection ranges from 4.0 to 9.4 right now with a lot of 6.0's and the like in between. A few examples are below. Thanks again and good luck figuring out what works for you! Dan
