  1. That Mark Bagley cover with no background for $24K is the one I can't get over.
  2. Not all pages are just pencil and ink on an art board. Sometimes the production process requires additional work be done to get the page ready for production. Let's see your examples. I have 3 and will post them individually. Here's the first one: The Mighty Thor 216 page 5 During the production process there was a lettering change made to the board, so an exacto knife was used to removed that porion of the board and then a piece of white paper replaced the whole. On the back of the page the white paper was held in place with 2 pieces of overlapping tape. https://www.comicartfans.com/gallerypiece.asp?piece=1550092
  3. Let's see everyone's favorite commission that they own with a few words about why it is your favorite. Mine is this Marvel Girl/Nightcrawler piece by John Byrne. I had 4 of these Old/New X-Men team up pieces done and this is my favorite one. My favorite things about it are the smoke and Jean's hands and the lighting on Kurt's leg and face. https://www.comicartfans.com/GalleryPiece.asp?Piece=891525
  4. This is correct. The art was cut to save time in the production process. I think John Byrne mentioned this on his board once.
  5. I actually think the Ordway inked issues of FF 270's-280's were the best looking issues of Byrne's FF run, but maybe I'm in the minority.
  6. The Mighty Thor 216 Page 5 John Buscema/Jim Mooney - features great shots of Odin, Thor and Xorr, the God-Jewel. https://www.comicartfans.com/gallerypiece.asp?piece=1550092
  7. Man, that is a great page. Huge fan of Kirby/Sinnott's Crystal. I love this one a lot.
  8. I've pretty much reached the point of what is described above. I've taken a lot of the smaller pieces I had acquired over the years and traded them in for larger pieces. I'm in the middle of trade right now that once completed will be the last one of these I can/will be willing to make. The main point was to parse down the number of pieces I had into something more manageable, while retaining the overall value into pieces (so trading 10 pages worth $3,500 for one worth the same amount - give or take a little - not an exact science but fair trades for both sides) I've got a good amount of nice 4 figure artwork I'm happy with now and have gone from about 50 pages to about half that. I also think its easier to define value of a mid four figure piece than a bunch (5-10) of pieces that equal that amount so they would be easier to quantify price if needed down the road.
  9. Excalibur 1 Page 24 First issue and this page (Nightcrawler in the tub) begins the sexual flirtation subplot between Nightcrawler and Meggan that ran during the early issues of this series. https://www.comicartfans.com/gallerypiece.asp?piece=1530835 JLA/Avengers 1 Page 36 This page from the first issue of the min-series is part of the first encounter between the 2 teams. This is the second page of the series to feature both JLA and Avengers characters, IIRC. Features Hawkeye, Scarlet Witch, Quicksilver, Iron Man, Wonder Woman, Superman, Batman, Aquaman, Plastic Man, Martian Manhuter and Green Lantern (Kyle). https://www.comicartfans.com/gallerypiece.asp?piece=1061080
  10. Generally the pages from JIM with Chic Stone inks are the most desirable. I think really nice pages on the Kirby/Stone vintage are in the mid teens pricewise usually.
  11. There have been about 8-10 Alan Davis Excalibur pages on my wish list for several years and I just got one that was near the top . This became available and I managed to get my hands on it. Issue 1 page 24. If you were a fan of the first 8 issues (Special #1 and 1-7) you'll remember this page for sure. https://www.comicartfans.com/gallerypiece.asp?piece=1530835
  12. I just received my first Alan Davis Excalibur page. It is a memorable page from issue 3, where Shadowcat sees her doppelganger from a different dimension. The picture is more yellow than the page actually is and I will try to replace it with a better one. http://www.comicartfans.com/gallerypiece.asp?piece=1449002
  13. Didn't he reveal himself to be a manipulator during "Shillgate"? Also, I agree with your stance on this topic and feel you have made a lot of good points.
  14. I have a DPS from Superman Unchained and it is probably my #1 piece in my collection, absolutely worth every penny. If you find one you really like with artwork that really pops I don't think you can go wrong.
  15. I've had some interest in owning production pencils from stuff like Snow White or Fantasia, but never pulled the trigger.
  16. My mind went to Jack Davis as well.
  17. I agree. I don't like tan pages at all.
  18. Show us your grail piece (the one piece you want above all others and will never own for whatever reason). Mine is the Alan Davis Fall of the Mutants Poster
  19. I don't think it has to do with being "cheap". I personally don't have any need to pay for premium. If I was more of a seller I would probably pony up the dough, but the free membership suits my needs just fine.
  20. Based on this, I predict in 950 years the Super Moby of Space will own every existing Kirby/Sinnott FF page.
