  1. The publishing time is definitely relevant. It shows that Marvel has fully established the HIM character in '67 - a full origin story arc with a climactic appearance at the end. HIM's reappearance in '69 is nothing more than a filler story. Nobody is disputing that Thor 165 is more valuable. You have fully drawn HIM on cover and a CGC note saying full appearance. It also helps that it has a black cover, tough to find in high grade. It is an easy book to hype and flip in today's market. Let's be honest to ourselves and call Thor 165 as it is - another book to flip
  2. We're not talking about ASM 299 and 300, which is part of a continuous storyline. We're talking about FF67 and Thor 165, which are TWO years apart. Sure, if Thor 165 came out the following month and is part of the first HIM story arc, then I would say Thor 165 is relevant. But that is not the case is it? Yes, I read Thor 165. HIM was lonely and decided to kidnap and mate with Sif. Since the book came out 2 yrs after FF 66 and 67, Lee and Kirby had to rehash his origin - yes, it has been that long... Read FF 66 and 67 and you will see how irrelevant Thor 165 is! I'll give Thor 165 some brownie points for having a cooler cover, but not by much! The cocoon cover is quite epic too! Disclaimer, I have multiple copies of both FF67 and Thor 165. FF67 to keep, Thor 165 to flip! (check)
  3. 2 years is quite significant. It shows that Lee and Kirby has established the character in '67. No follow up needed. Thor 165 did not contribute to HIM/Warlock's character development - Marvel Premiere 1 is actually more important (after FF 67) if you actually read the books. FF 67 = origin (check), focal point of the story (check), full body appearance (check), dialogue (check) Thor 165 = cover appearance (check). I don't care what the "market"/flippers says. Thor 165 is nothing more than a book to flip. FF67 all day!!!
  4. I think the only explanation they offered as to how DS caught up so quick and became a sorcerer was: he was born with a photo graphic memory. On a different note, the guy just literally walked into a room and was immediately taken to a trip to the multi-verse. Ant-Man's trip to the micro-verse had a better set up.
  5. I dozed off a bit in the beginning. The movie is quite generic. The way they rolled out Dormammu was very lazy - similar to how Fox introduced Galactus in FF2. Maybe I was expecting too much from Marvel. On the bright side, I think this is the first time I have seen Marvel used an infinity gem the proper way. Overall, it is a decent popcorn flick
  6. We're not the target audience for these books anymore. They are shooting for those snap-chatting type crowd.
  7. Great Video! I always enjoy listening to those back-in-the-day type stories. Keep 'em coming.
  8. I can't believe 4-day passes sold out that quick. Had to settle for Friday and Saturday. Can't wait to meet Stan Lee!
  9. Tough show to watch - still in episode 6... There are some cool geek-out moments but the lead actor is very weak. I like Cotton Mouth and Misty Knight though.
  10. Can you imagine how much more cash SS would have brought in if the movie is half as good as Cap WS? Since the top two Marvel Studios films for me are Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Guardians of the Galaxy, I would say it would be at least $718MM. Suicide Squad was really hyped up before its release too - lots of anticipation for Harley Quinn from horny fanboys for sure . Winter Soldier on the other hand was a surprise success - new directors and a follow up to the mediocre 1st Cap movie. I really wasn't counting on this to be some massive success like it is turning into. Especially when the movie was critiqued so horrible. But it definitely was entertaining for me, and introduced quite a few characters that I would like to see used in better told stories in the future. Captain America: The Winter Soldier is definitely 'top of the heap' when it comes to action-packed and well-told storytelling. If anything, hopefully this proves to the DCEU executives if they can combine solid stories with interesting characters, it can be just as successful. I was actually expecting SS to hit $1B - this is HQ's debut movie played by the hottest woman on the planet and we get to see Joker portrayed by the great Jared Leto! Also, did you see those kick trailers - I don't care what rotten tomatoes says, but as a movie fan I have to see this movie.
  11. Can you imagine how much more cash SS would have brought in if the movie is half as good as Cap WS? About the same as Iron Man 3 then... Yeah, SS was being compared dollar for dollar to a much superior film (WS). You raised a valid point then. SS should have been compared (dollar-wise) to Iron Man 3 because both films merit are from unsubstantiated hype before their respective releases. What are the numbers again?

  14. This is the only Marvel movie that I'm not looking forward to. I honestly have a bad feeling about this.
  15. which title? Jimmy Olsen or Forever People 1? JO 134 Thought FP 1 is his first appearance? No. There's a crudely-drawn Darkseid head in a tiny panel. Thrilling stuff. That is one of the weakest first appearance.
  16. Who cares? She's NOT Mary Jane. Change for a random reason is BS. The reasons not random. Multi-Billion Dollar companies don't make decisions on potential Billion dollar properties at RANDOM. They feel it will expand their market long term, and reach an audience that will continue to grow with the movies. Isn't that pandering? Why not create a brand new character instead? MJ and/or Gwen are both played out anyways.
  17. This is the spidey-verse for the next generation of fans and will for sure make serious amount of cash.
