I binged the whole season last week. Even after watching a video on "why Riverdale sucks" wherein they point out all of the bad acting, bad dialogue and character "flaws". I really enjoyed every episode, and to be honest, I can't even tell you WHY I liked it. It was a; Twin Peaks meets 90210 (in a CW formulaic way) with a dash of Nancy Drew rot your brain show. The (relative) bad acting and dialogue was bearable, yet hardly any of the characters were endearing (least of all, Archie) but somehow it was watchable. It was like drinking a McDonald's milkshake/Wendy's Frosty. You know it's horrible, you aren't even sure WHY you even ordered it, but you simply can't stop consuming it until it's gone. Terry

I'm all for the reboot. But there is a cause for fretting. Let me start off by saying I like the first two Hellboy movies. I think they are excellent. I love the steampunky feel, Nazi/Russian/mythical/elven tie-ins, but (like most superhero movies) it's commonly acknowledged that it is only passingly faithful to the source material. The last hellboy movie was 9 years ago, and though it is a good long time, it isn't long enough necessarily for the public to be able to watch a reboot with fresh eyes. (see Fantastic 4, Spider-Man, Superman etc.) This is primarily an issue because on-the-whole a majority of Hellboy fans are, in fact, fans of DelToro's Hellboy*. And as we all know Del Toro won't be working on this, and furthermore because of the smaller studio, it obviously won't have the Del Toro sized budget to go along with it. As comic book fans, the most we can hope for is a Mignola Hellboy movie that is more true to the comics. But those 3 facets (No Del Toro, No Troll Market money, Comic book Hellboy feel) are what may actually doom would could otherwise be a spectacular movie. I actually presumed Del Toro was done with Hellboy when I read that article where Mignola was talking about the 2nd film. And he basically said that he was giving Del Toro some suggestions about how Hellboy would act, and that the --script was a bit divergent, and Del Toro basically told him "I don't need any more of your suggestions. Your Hellboy wouldn't say that. But mine does." And in that interview Mignola said that he took that as his queue that Del Toro had no further need of his input. So any chance for a 3rd Hellboy would pretty much be devoid of Mignola or his sign-off. (Personally, I have a feeling that Mignola did have the planned sit down discussions with Del Toro where he said "Let's do it, but I have some suggestions" and Del Toro said "I just need your sign-off to do the movie. Not any of your suggestions." And Mignola was like "Thanks for the cup of coffee. Good luck on Troll Hunters!") But my imagining off backroom dealings on multi-million dollar movie productions aside, this movie does have the potential to fulfill Mignola Hellboy fan hopes. If you like the dark gritty themes in Hellboy comics, this movie has the potential to give you the goods. This studio doesn't have the money to pull-off Troll Markets, but suspense building and large foreboding shadowy sterile domains, they can probably afford. And 'No Del Toro' means that there is a chance that Mignola will have a better chance at some input to give us a movie that will not only have a familiar story (Blood Queen - Wild Hunt/The Storm/The Fury) but also show us the titular character the way YOU and I know him. My only critique for the reboot is that I actually would prefer a CGI hellboy. Ron Perlman did a fantastic job in the roll, but he's not 8' tall and Del Toro made no attempt at forced perspective or camera angle shots to give him that size that he has in the comic books. They also did not have the money to give Hellboy split-hooved feet. I was actually happy with the CGI version of Colossus in Deadpool and if they had the money to do something similar with Hellboy, I'd be very happy. But it doesn't sound like Millennium studios will have the money to do either corrective CGI. I would also be delighted to see some of the BPRD characters make cameos (Anyone else want to see Panya, Bill Daimio, Roger, or Sidney Leach?). And though I can only imagine the vitriol that would spew out of the internet from "hellboy fans", I wouldn't at all be upset if Abe was reimagined a bit more like his comic character. *So, you say, "how do you know that most Hellboy fans only like Del Toro's version?" Well, I don't... but I know that most Dark Horse prints between 10k and 15k copies of Hellboy tiles at a time. So unless 1mil people are reading Hellboy comics online or in the comic shop and putting them right back on the shelf, most people that call themselves fans of Hellboy are referring to the Del Toro version. -Terry

I finally plowed through this. It was not easy. So much hype from critics and video blogs that I feel is greatly undeserved. As so many of you here have stated, the dialogue is not only lame, but it does very little to develop the story. The almost constant flashbacks simply dramatize the exposition that has already been firmly stated again and again. I believe the back story should either be expounded on OR flashback it, but doing both just drags out the show making 13 hours of show feel like 36 hours. It literally took me 8 days to get through this all, like trying to consume a giant plate of overcooked-unseasoned veggies. Unlike Daredevil that I gobbled-up in a day and a half period of time. I love the Hellboy Mezco 9" line. They look like they just stepped out of the comic books. The only grievance I have is that they never produced frog men, or Rasputin, or comic book version of Kroenen (Even if he was just a bit-player in the comics). Also, no Dr. Breuttenholm, Ben or Kate. Okay I also don't like that for some strange reason, Hellboy is nearly the same height as everyone else. (only marginally taller, but he should be a full foot taller than everyone else). -Terry

They were on schedule for this month according to my pre-order with Things From Another World. Chilling Adventures of Sabrina #5: May 18th Afterlife with Archie #9: May 25th I hope they don't push it back as they have done with other issues in the recent past. That is the first comic book movie trailer to give me goosebumps in....I don't know how long. I was sort of feeling a bit......about the movie until now....now I can't hardly stand the anticipation of longer trailers. -Terry

I really like this show. It's riveting (Finally got time to finish binge watching it this weekend). But some things sort of fell flat in the story telling. I wonder if I need to get my buddy that reads Daredevil comics to explain it to me.

Giant robot camels.

Since my old comics are all late silver and fall into early Bronze age , I use the BCW Silver bags in 4mil. They fall between the 725 and 775 in size (7.5"?) I also like them because they still fit in my short boxes (the 775's are too wide to put in a standard sized comic book short box). -Terry

Mike Mignola's Hellboy first appearance (as we would recognize him) is on Dime Press #4. An Italian pulp GN. He appears no where within the book.

Mindless Ones. Why is Strange running? Can't he levitate? Perhaps it's early in his training Maybe the cape he's wearing is just a non-magical one, and he doesn't have the levitation cloak yet. (Perhaps having the Cloak of Levitation might cause a Giant Eagles type plot hole?) -Terry

It must be lucrative, otherwise it wouldn't be such a prolific practice. Think about it, all you need is a sucker to fall for it every 6 months, and you'll gross more than most people in the USA make after taxes. And never underestimate the greed of people. The information is out there. It would have to be compiled, or as UltraMaximus pointed out, he'll just have to go to his local store and see if they'll give him the information. (Which they probably aren't going to be inclined to do). My whole point is that it's much less work to keep making Jabs at Chuck to "prove your delicious piont by feeding us the pudding" than go make it themselves. The whole argument is completely moot. But they know that Chuck can be manipulated by playing on his desire to always be right. The argument is dumb anyhow, because they keep arguing the finite points of the original statement... "Oh, that doesn't count as proof. That one is a percentage locked cover. That doesn't count.,....Just give us the list." "Oh...that info is only a cherry picked snap shot...That doesn't count.....just give us the list." Every post ends with the same 3 phrases: "Just give us the list.", "Post the list", or "Why can't you just give us the whole 700 comic book list?" No one care is Chuck is right or wrong. They want him to spoon feed them the list. -Terry

They just want the list, Chuck. It has nothing to do with proving anything, except that you can be goaded into producing lists of variants w/ratios in a convenient format for people, that they're too lazy to make for themselves. Just my . -Terry

Is this the 6" figure of Kraven? I'm going to make a couple of slabs (and maybe a some other weapons) for the ultimate hunter before he gets to me and want to size them for scale. The look on his face makes me think one of his slabs must be PLOD. -Terry
