  1. So an increase in the value of Fury's Howling Commandos, or unaffected?
  2. A bit more than just this week shown here (more like 2 weeks), but decided to pick-up multiple sets of the Mike Migonla's semi-swan-song "Year of Monsters" covers. One variant cover each month for the year 2012, so a total of 12 covers in each set. Still missing a few issues to make 3 complete sets (36 covers) as seen here. I already have 2 other complete sets (not shown). My new thing seems to be to collect 5 of everything in the Mignolaverse. Yeah. You could say I like Mike's covers. Now, I only need to slab a few. -Terry
  3. Called my LCS. They are sold out too.
  4. I noticed that TFAW was already sold out yesterday (the day of release). Currently on back order. But they have the green variant. -T
  5. Has anyone read #1 yet? Can we get a review? The story teaser/synopsis has piqued my interest. I'm not a big fan of Francavilla's covers for Dark Horse in the past. Maybe it's because it's the fall/halloween season. But I'm getting the itch to pick this one up. If it has some approval, it would push me over the fence to run by the LCS and pick it up. -T
  6. So, the print run for New Mutants #98 was large enough to give every man/woman/child in Akron, Ohio their own copy? Interesting. -T
  7. Another sketch from a leaf in my day-timer. Mechanical pencils are my friends. -T
  8. A pencil sketch of a young woman's head in profile done in a day-timer leaf.
  9. You can only hope it's as good as the animated series! http://www.veoh.com/watch/v1428312XsPydfHb -Terry
  10. Or maybe his mommy told him to get off of the computer and get ready for dinner. -Terry
  11. Ugh. Some terrible choices. I'll put in a vote for me 20 years ago. Just spray on some grey on the sides and voila! And I'm 6'3". No need for camera tricks to adjust for height. Actually, I'm only in my early 40's. No pattern baldness. And I have the grey temples. I'm still 15 years younger than Day-Lewis and only a few older than Joaquin. I would seriously sorcerer supreme the HELL out of that part.
  12. I know it's just modern garbage to you most of you, but it was a big dark horse haul this week for me. With all of the boxes on the doorstep, my neighbors probably think I'm moving. My 4th complete set of JBNM (1st series- 31 of 32), a nearly complete set of Baltimore, another JB Next Men #21, an SDCC #2, an old Rocketeer 3D w/audio (from a boardie), and the most recent Witchfinder, Lobster Johnson & BPRD hell on earths. Most of these I had to get mail order. The LBS's in driving distance hardly ever have anything Mignola related. Even the day after it comes out. I did get the Baltimore Plague Ships (it was every one) at the lbs near my work.
  13. I'll toss in another Kudo for Paul. Great deal on a hard to find comic. Great packaging and fast shipping. I definately wouldn't hesitate to buy from him again. -Terry
  14. Huh? What is this hel-bouy you speak of??? (Not so much a fan as you, I think!) -T
  15. I'm sorry, but I just can't let the hellboy thread fade away. I grabbed my Next Mens (I have 4 complete sets of JBNM) from a box and started sorting them out. Collecting the best ones into a single set and the others into the "readable" copy sets. Sadly, this isn't even ALL of my JB Next Men 21s. I just got lazy and didn't pull the other couple out of their hiding spaces. -Terry
  16. Technically, it shouldn't be a problem so long as they keep prefacing Marvel with "Captain". The minute you just call him MARVEL, then there is a legal issue. But, Marvel has sold off over half a dozen franchises already, why not just ask them to sell you the rights to use "Marvel" in a movie for some lucre? After selling animation rights to Lionsgate for some of your most popular superheroes, Is there really some doubt in your mind that Marvel won't sell their grandmother for a ham sandwich? I Marvel at the possibilities. -Terry
  17. My theory is that it's late summer/just before school, and people are tight on $. This time of year tends to be a good time to look for stuff on ebay, because people have blown their disposable income on summer vacations or are saving it for their kids (school supplies/clothes) or college necessities for the semester. But, having said that, the few comics (copper age) that I keep an eye out for have been slowly creeping up in price (10-20%) the past few weeks. But I have an extremely narrow perspective. -Terry
  18. I love the speculation of things becoming insanely popular because they are rumored to be getting made into a TV show or movie. I still haven't heard any of the finer details about what the plan is to market RQ the animated series. With the boobs, language and blood, is this going to be aired on AMC or (Toon) Adult Swim? WHat network is picking it up? Has it even been sold to a network? I only keep hearing about the production side of it. Don't get me wrong...It sounds like it's got everything most of us love to see in a show! I look forward to seeing it animated. But I refuse to get my hopes up. Did anyone notice that it's being made by Pukeko Pictures? They did the animation for Jane & the Dragon. If it is going to be the same style of digital animation for Rat Queens, I might skip it. To anyone that thinks an awesome/deep/compelling story arc automatically equals successful translation into TV media, I have two word for you: Dresden Files. Enough said.
  19. Thanks. People always seemed drawn to that half-buried skeleton for some reason. I did a short poster print of this (500 copies) about 25 years ago, and people would always ask questions like "Is the skeleton rising up out of the coins?" or "Did that helmet belong to the skeleton?" or "Who is the skelton?" Ironically, I went to high school with Frank Cho (he was actually 1 year behind me) and we were in the same art class in my senior year. He excelled. And I was pretty mediocre (I remember getting a "D" in that class). His family lived about 2 blocks from mine. I also remember going to his house as a kid in either late elementary or middle school. Weird to see people you knew way back when.
  20. Here's a pencil sketch I did about 25 years ago (11x17 format).
  21. +1 I'm sensing echos of the Dresden Files. (*shudder*). But I also did a lot of eyerolling at Arrow commercial trailers....and despite my expectation and putting off watching it, I actually liked season 1. -Terry
  22. Just got the top left one (Mignola signed) in the mail today, to reunite with his brothers. I love Mignola, but the one signed by James O'Barr and Don Martin is my preeecccious.
  23. There aren't any right now. You missed Batman and Superman Public Enemies, Superman/Batman: Apocalypse, and Batman: Under the red Hood by a couple of months. (NLA on netflix). You can stream any of these plus a ton more for about $3/ea on Amazon, though. If you have Amazon Prime, you can see: Batman The animated Series (seasons 1-4) for free Superman: The animated Series (seasons 1-3) for free. Netflix currently has the series: Green Lantern: The animated Series (26 ep, FYI: I'm NOT a fan of this show) Justice League (2 seasons 52 ep. <- also not a fan) Justice League Unlimited (season 1, 39 ep) <-this currently shows on Sat morning cartoons locally to me. Young Justice (season 1 22 episode) Batman Beyond (seasons 1-3, 52 ep full run) Both of these last ones so good that I've watched them both 3 times, atleast. You have to either watch pirated Young Justice 2nd season, or buy it somewhre (Totally worth seeing, if you like the first season!). I agree with some of the earlier posters that except for some of the early Marvel stuff, the DC animated shows are far and beyond the better entertainment (and I grew up loving everything Marvel). The early X-men show from the late 80's, early 90's was pretty good. But that was about it. Back to the animated Movies. The ones that I know you can get on Amazon: Batman: Under the Red Hood Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker DCU: Son of Batman Superman/Batman: Apocalypse Superman/Batman: Public Enemies Green Lantern: First flight Green Lantern: Emerald Knights (I liked First Flight better) Justice League: Flashpoint Paradox Justice League: War (never saw this one) Justice League: Doom $3, will let you rent it to watch for 24 hours. $13-$19 will let you own it indefinately through your Amazon account.
