  1. Pretty strong prices, yes, but also books you don't run across too often. We're in a crazy market!
  2. I see way more Frazetta, or perhaps Williamson, here - maybe even Raymond. Dave Stevens especially channeled Frazetta. That fantastic 3-D Sheena cover Stevens did has a Frazetta-type woman with a little touch of a Burne Hogarth background. Great stuff all.
  3. Just killer stuff, and impressive to see gathered in such an array. I love the Captain Miracle with the "Adventure Machine" and the Melvin Purvis. The Robin Hood card is great, too. Heck, they're ALL great!!
  4. Oh goodness, how thou doth taunt us mere mortals...
  5. Rare is right!! All these are great. You've done well, my friend. All those early mornings have paid off.
  6. If memory serves me, Jack Kirby was NOT in the inaugural class. By any metric, that renders the Overstreet hall - at best - really, really suspect and borderline laughable. Compared to some of the other inductees, Byrne is Babe Ruth to their Lance Berkman.
  7. Well, not everyone picks the winning ticket. I told my dad a million times to invest in comics in the 70's. He instead bought proof sets, stuff from the Franklin Mint, and Bradford Exchange plates. That TOS 39 and AF 15 or all those LB Cole covers I would've bought sure wouldn't compare... Nor those Kirby pages for $200.
  8. If they're nicely presenting copies, you can always try the Bay - Mickey, Donald, Buck Rogers, Flash Gordon, Shadow, Mandrake to a lesser extent, and John Carter. One never knows. Consider posting a group shot so we can see what you have!
  9. Overstreet is very optimistic. There are a few that sell near guide, but most sell for considerably less. A comic analogy would be Looney Tunes and unremarkable WDCS. Now, I happen to love them nevertheless, but I do most of my hunting in the wild. I got the first BLB ( Tracy) and the second (Little Orphan Annie) for way less than guide this past year, as well as a dozen or so from a toy dealer who also collects BLB's and those were in the fine range for around ten bucks apiece - well under guide for titles like Don Winslow and Tarzan. Good luck with the sale - Or, they do look rather near propped up on a shelf in little groups...
  10. Both standout covers, especially the 10. I just love that blue background and the whole concept.
  11. Yeah, that was pretty impressive. An embarrassment of riches to be sure!
  12. Well, I appreciate the candor. It's as I expected. I'll probably throw them in the pile with my wife's Lands End catalogs and dump that stuff in the recycling bin.
  13. Wow, wow, wow! That is one cool, in-your-face book! (Pun intended, I guess)
  14. I'm definitely getting a long overdue lesson on romance books - the masters course, that is.
  15. My wife made fun of me for playing with my comics much of the afternoon. To me, that's always time well spent! Here are a few GGA books I didn't want to take out of their snug mylars:
  16. Some of my favorite girlie covers. I know the Gay and the Joker are sort of in that limbo between Timely and Atlas, but they seem go get their due love by the boardies in this thread.
  17. How does one even know which issues are hot without making it a full-time job? This has long been one of my favorite Millies - is it a consensus book or one for the dog-pile?
  18. I just looked at it. The condition looked strong. Maybe $2000 on that classic. It sucks that we can't be everywhere at once.
  19. The seller left some money on the table there. BIN is a dangerous tool for sellers!
  20. I guess when I found a beat-up G- copy of Marvel Spotlight 5 for a dollar I should've passed on it... It depends on your perspective: I have many thousands of comic books and have bought probably less than fifty online (and most of those in the earliest days of eBay), and never a slabbed copy. That's just me. I like the hunt. I used to love the local comic shows. I still paw thru boxes of comics at antique malls and flea markets, despite knowing they are probably picked over. I like laying hand to a book that presents itself because I am out and about. Different strokes n all...
