  1. Seems like they need to listen to Nightwish to get the best of both worlds
  2. Gotta hand it to you Robot Man you persisted with Alfred E. Neuman. Once I learned that there was pre-Mad stuff, I realized that was a whole can of worms I just didn't want to open up.
  3. What about MAD 24? It is probably not as hard to find as many on the list but can still get high hundreds to the low thousand I do think it is nice that these key magazine prices pale in comparison to key comic prices
  4. I think the Cable and Wolverine heads were to fit in comic boxes and the heads sticking out.
  5. That was my first introduction to Basil Wolverton. He had such an interesting/distinct art style that really wasn't replicated until R. Crumb came along.
  6. I am not surprised by that. He probably doesn't want to end up like Tolkien and having a relative try to put together "new" books.
  7. You are completely correct and there is no way to argue with it. The budget we have is a lot smaller than most of you guys and the reason why we go is different too. We are not into back issues or anything like that. We go to find new creators or self-published people and see what they have to offer as well as meeting people whom we have enjoyed reading over time. When it came to the point where one year there was only 1 person there we were interested in meeting so we thought to just skip the show. We have skipped it ever since. When people ask why go to BCC? I always say, "Go there because it is a comic book show for people who love comic books"
  8. Great pics! This is a great comic show where there are tons of comics for all types of comic collectors. The wife and I loved going to BCC but it just started to price us out. Not because the price of comics was too high, it was when we realized that for parking and admission to the convention we would have to pay $100 before setting foot on the convention floor took away from our spending money on comics.
  9. Anything above 9.0 except for 10. I do not mind the fractional amounts except they do not use is consistently for grades below 9.0.
  10. Love Addams's work and have every book. He paved the way for Gahan Wilson and French cartoonist Claude Serre One thing about those New Yorker cartoonists, you could take any one of their books and be happy with the humor inside. If you so desire you could rip out pages in the books and hang them framed on your wall.
  11. I still get pulls from my LCS but they are never from Marvel or DC unless they are written by a select few writers. I grew bored of Marvel when the Ultimate stuff came out. Geoff Johns wrote so much I just grabbed the TPB. One of the things my friends were talking about recently is about how there was a over saturation of comics that all needed to follow some event story line and you needed to have vested interest for many months or over a year for multiple books instead of just one book. Not to mention the fact that you don't really get those 3-5 book stories anymore.
  12. It's too bad about the prices. I was about to joke that they were in pesos but it still comes to $1k US. These are some nice intro copies of some good issues for the collector on a budget.
