  1. Congratulations: fantastic book and looking good in the new new slab also.
  2. Here’s the current list of known Miracleman #1 "Gold" variants. These were from the initial print run, were numbered out of 400 and sold at the San Diego Comic Con in 1985. Each was individually signed by Alan Moore and each came with a certificate of authenticity that included the number and, in some cases, has a comic shop noted on the certificate (some were given out by the shops as prizes at the comic con) - where known, this is noted in within square brackets below: · 002 [blank] · 011 Featured in Comics Buyer's Guide #1535, page 41, sold for $1,500 by Excalibur Books & Comics circa 2003 [blank] · 022 Sold on ebay for $449.99 in May 2016. 3. 4. I bought the originals in the 80's at the time and thought it was a step up from 2000AD and collected them until the end (#26). I always look back thinking someone should fill the gap again with something similar but maybe it didn't sell enough to be viable and late teen interest seemed to migrate to comics like Viz (which sold over 900,000 copies of each issue by the end of the 80's). I only spotted the 1996 special sometime in the early 2000's and got hold of it more out of curiosity. The cover is a reprint from an old Eureka! fanzine from 1971 (Ewan probably has one ) and the comic part of the book (around 20 pages or so) features unpublished material from the 80's. Dez Skinn had been producing Comics International for some time and I guess he just decide to print some of the unused Warrior material as a flip comic to #67 (he always says "Yorkshireman never throw owt away" so I guess he wanted to make use of it but took a decade to do so; he mentioned later that this was also to maintain copyright on Warrior).
  5. THIS one, yes, tough to find. i'm still looking for mine! $1,000,000 and it's yours but I might take offers ...I also have some Alan Moore scripts from Warrior (some carbon copy, some top copy but all from his typewriter and held together with dinky little staples).....open to ridiculous offers that would allow me to retire early
  6. Warrior "#27" is quite hard to get hold of: a lot of them will have been chucked out me thinks (due to the way it was published).
  7. It's the first "variant". The regular cover is denoted with a '1'. Agreed, the regular is not a variant of anything so 1 is the regular, 2 is the first variant (or second cover) and 3 (if it existed) would be the second variant (or third cover).
  8. Barcode for the Diamond Retailer Summit variant is "00123", which translates as: 001 - First Issue 2 - Second variant cover 3 - Third Printing According to this: I suppose it should say second cover rather than variant as the regular isn't really a first variant (as it's not a variation of anything).
  9. I understand that is when it was distributed but was it actually run off as and intended to be a "third print", or was it printed along with the first print and held back until and then distributed at the summit? -J. If they are following the barcode format it's a second variant of the third printing: 00111 March - First Print 00112 March - Second Print 00113 April - Third Print 00123 April - Diamond Retailer Summit Variant (third print, second variant)
  10. That's really not to my taste, I much prefer this one
  11. OK I'm now a repeat buyer! This time I bought a couple of signed slabs from Boon and, as always, he was great to deal with and the comics arrived next day well packed and in great condition. Many thanks once again! Now I'm an addict! Bought yet another slab off Boon, a nice Saga #1 on CGC 9.8 on Signature Series. As before, Boon is fantastic to deal with; highly recommended.
  12. Most excellent! ...and for sale now on ebay
  13. Congratulations on the top grade and fantastic to see these side by side. On the printing defect/crease, all the "Gold" editions seem to have this and there are 13 known to be graded in cgc 9.8 so it does not seem to affect the grade too much at all. Comic with crease above also graded CGC 9.8.
  14. Four comics added, colours added and a few amendments. Ok, here is the current list of known Miracleman #1 "Gold" variants (from the Miracleman thread). 16. Just bought a couple of rare slabs from Boon and he was great to communicate and negotiate with, he dispatched the comics incredibly quickly and they arrived the next day, securely packaged and in tip top condition. All in all a fantastic seller and I wouldn't hesitate to deal with him again.
  17. I decided to sell the first one, along with a raw copy as well Miracleman #1 UK Variant CGC 9.8 s/s Garry Leach
  18. (1) Rarest Alan Moore Issue (although not as rare as many once thought) (2) Super art and legendary cover art (cover art worth at least $50,000, probably a lot more now) Lots going for it so is a sought after issue.
  19. Raw copies in top condition, such as the ones previously sold by comicopolis (which regularly graded 9.6 or 9.8 by CGC) went for $450-$600 over the past 5 years. This one may be high grade but simply wont sell with that reserve, similar to the two on mycomicshop.com ($700 for a "9.2" and $899.95 for a "8.0"), all overpriced me thinks.

  21. Ok, looking for advice here. I had these signed through Rich Henn: on one of them the sharpie was a little dry and the first signature was not great so Garry Leach signed it again and also wrote "Kimota!" on the comic! Both came back cgc 9.8 s/s . I'm looking to fund our vacation/holiday this year so will likely sell one soon and also include a 9.4 raw copy as well (I will sell on the boards as I know there are a number of dedicated MM collectors here). My first dilemma is which one to keep? I also have the dilemma of how much to offer the other one for but I guess that's really a problem for me to resolve
  22. Within the last couple of years good copies in NM or better usually sell raw for over $500, occasionally over $600; would say this one was definitely cheap and possibly a good buy (if it is a 9.6 of course )
  23. No this was never mine (I do have a 9.8 blue label though) - when Rich Henn organised one of the head sketch sessions he received and posted some of the pictures from Totleben, including this one hence I had seen it before. Sorry I don't believe you...it's never cold in Florida
