  1. I am not sure if I ever posted this one. Crippen copy with a nice Frazatta cover. I suspect many people don't even know that it exists. I would have had some GRs from the series with Fraz covers, but some stooge smoked my bids on Heritage not long ago.

    Roy,

I love this book. And yours is so pretty. In about a week I will finally have a copy to fill the gaping hole in my 1-10 run. A group shot to follow....

Yowza! :o Can't wait to see that incredible group shot! (worship)

  3. my group shot has grown a bit since my post on the first page of this thread.

I know I don't get any points for diversity, but maybe I'll get a few for collection focus.

  4. Nice Sardo!

I just popped another cherry tonite...picked up my first V1 Mystic book from Socratic Wonder...I've strayed a bit from my original vision when I began buying Timely books...my prerequisites are the following:

    a) early Schomburg pulp like cover (not a fan of his later work)

    b) lower grade, higher eye appeal or restored

    c) variety of colors.

This book fits all 3! An affordeable copy of my first black cover Timely and a classic Schomburg cover to boot!

Terrific pick-up! Early Schomburg covers are awesome (worship) ...and quite dramatic!

On this cover, I'll bet the bad guys spent several days building the "Slide of Death" before The Dynamic Man saves the day. Why not simply push her into the fire? (shrug)

  5. Congrats GE.

Wasn't this owned by a Board member already?

Possibly....is Brad Mandell from Dublin, OH on the boards? (shrug)

If so, Brad would primarily post on the OA Forum as he focuses on high-end art (his eBay store lists a $26k GA Wonder Woman cover and a $18k Alex Schomburg & Siegel "Jon Juan" page). :o

Great seller and nice to deal with....

I think you may be thinking of this one from my collection that I posted earlier this year. It seems Shelly liked this idea and did at least two of them (with slight differences)! :o

Very cool piece! :applause: For your version, Robin has left to attend to the Bat Signal call, but the gorgeous Black Canary drops in for a visit.

  6. in all seriousness, richard's collection of timelys is stunning... sure, there are MH copies in JVerzyl collection, but that was kind of a "all in one shot deal"... the amazing part of bedrock's run is that he has pieced together copies that are in INCREDIBLE condition, over time, and from his myriad of sources... no small feat at all (heck, it is tough enough to find low grade or restored copies)...

so, mr highgrade timely bedrock, let me dispense with the sarcasm and add my CONGRATUATIONS to your continued incredible collection

oh, and one of these for good measure:

No doubt about it....Mr. B is building a collection for the ages! We mortals can learn alot from Richard's patience, discriminating eye and great passion for this hobby. Congrats again! :applause:

I'd consider it my HOME RUN lifetime collecting goal to build a GA collection half Mr. B's size....in humble 6.0 grades! (worship)

  8. After being outbid on several Heritage auction books (tried to stay disciplined!), I "rewarded" myself with this hand painted and colored Shelly Moldoff original art. As everyone knows, Moldoff was best known for his early art on Green Lantern (All American), Flash and Hawkman (Flash Comics) and as primary ghost-artist for Bob Kane's Batman. For you trivia buffs, Moldoff's first published DC work was a sports filler inside the front cover of Action Comics #1.

In his later years, Moldoff did a series of detailed color recreations for his cherished fans (most were single-character and half this size). Measuring a whopping 22 x 30 inches, this one-of-a-kind piece was completed 12 years ago and is perhaps his largest, most complex and ambitious recreation featuring of a large grouping (15) of DC's greatest superheroes:

What's even more exciting for me is seeing many of these super-heroes in "Classic Cover" poses: Green Lantern #3, More Fun #54 (Spectre), Adventure #44 (Sandman), All Star #10 (Hawkman), Superman #24, etc. Tailor-made to fit my collecting interests!

 This beauty will be framed and proudly displayed in my bed, er (sorry honey!).. home office!
