  1. Dang. That's another 1:50, right? Those are costly right out the gate.
  2. Anyone have a list of the upcoming Hughes covers? Uncanny Avengers 13 came out yesterday. Betty and Veronica 2-3 and have been solicited and will be out in the next couple of months. Serenity: No Power in the Verse #1 was announced last month. Anything else I'm missing?
  3. ...Still pissed that I passed on a nice copy of this when it came out. At the time, $30 was more than I was willing to spend on any variant, and still is actually. I sold my raw NM+ copy for $25. So I feel your pain.
  4. What are your thoughts on having multiple signatures on one book? I've always liked things simple: one book, one sig. But lately I've thought about snagging a book with two or more signatures. But I'm still not sold on the idea, especially if one signature is less sought after than the other. I know, buy what you like. But this whole SS thing is opening news doors for me, and I'm curious what others think.
  5. I'll admit that some autos are pretty ugly, either due to their sloppiness or the inappropriate placement on the cover. It's interesting that my focus would most likely be Adam Hughes, and his signature is already on his covers (typically). So there'd be an AH on the printed cover, and then another for his signature. Maybe I can get him to do one with the signature right on top of the one that's already on the cover.
  6. I agree with that. I've never considered SS books before, so this question was more a generality. I collect fist edition hardcovers and love getting them signed by the author. With comics, I'm never at conventions. So I'm still not sure an auto would be as cool if I didn't have it signed in front of me when I met the creator.
  7. In general, are SS books typically more sought after on the secondary market? Or does it have more to do with how rare the autograph is? Right now, I'm starting to become interested in Adam Hughes books. However, I'm a little unsure when seeing a 9.8 Universal with a BIN of $35 but an SS copy of the same book for $100.
  8. I've never picked up a signature series book, but the more I look into graded moderns, the more I see this option. Heck, in some instances, there are more SS items in the census than universal. For the modern collector, are SS books the preferred copy? Is there any rough guidelines that you follow when determining the value of a book that's signed vs. unsigned? For example, for the average, non-hyped book, is the SS version worth 50% more? 30% more? I know it's a case-by-case sort of thing, but does anyone have advice for someone just now looking into such things?
  9. What (raw) Catwoman sells for over $100? No, you're right. Poorly worded post with missing information. But when I was selling, I don't think Catwoman was selling for that high. Even the Lost numbers one.
  10. The prices for Hughes comics have jumped considerably since I was collecting him years back. I started selling my comics to prepare for a move maybe 2 years ago, and I was selling comics with Hughes covers for a fraction of what they're selling for now. Granted, most of that was my poor pricing, but still. What's got Hughes books so much love lately? I mean, Legion of Superheroes 23 for over $300? Many Catwoman issues for over $100? I've been out of the game for awhile, apparently. I didn't realize SS books were so popular either. But a quick check of the census shows that SS books are almost as plentiful as universal these days. Does SS seem to be the preferred type to collect for modern artists?
  11. Anyone know a good source for Star Wars vehicle replicas? I'd love to have a few of those ships, but I'm interested in something the size of my desk printer, not a Matchbox size.
  12. Two questions for you statue experts: 1. Assuming the full reveal is as great as the tease, I plan to order the Sandtrooper from Sideshow. I vaguely remember reading that payment plan buyers get their order earlier than single payment buyers. Is that true, or is that the other way around? 2. Whatever happened to XM's Star Wars license? I thought I read last summer that they'd be producing statues, too.
  13. Anyone still buying the Star Wars action figure variants? I dropped out at issue 12. Wondering if others are still collecting them...
  14. Hey Number 6, or anyone who's ordered from Hot Flips, how do their boxes work with Gold Archives? I need more boxes, but $75 for 5 from E Gerber doesn't work for me anymore (although my OCD will go nuts if I have too many more different sizes of boxes).
  15. Where'd this one come from? There's something appealing about this statue.
  16. The comic itself is superb, and the $9.99 TPB price point is a great bargain to attract new readers. When I figure a series is a long-time keeper worth multiple future reads, like Chew, I'll grab a deluxe hardcover and the larger page size is a nice bonus that amplifies that pages closer to their OA size. Most Image hardcovers have been so nice that it's easy to become spoiled. You see something like Wayward with 50+ pages of extra bonus materials and you start expecting everyone to provide that for the higher price. Lazarus was one of the best hardcover values out there and I ended up triple dipping. Not only did it provide all the variant covers, but it had a ton of back-matter published in the comic. I buy almost all of my comics as hardcovers, and I'm with you 100%. I love the oversize books from Image. And I'm still tempted by Southern Bastards, just to read it. But I've become spoiled, and hearing it's not oversize has me a little turned off by the idea.
  17. I just put it on my watch list at IST because of this thread (having never read the comic). But your post has me second guessing. Hmmm...
  18. I just realized I never got the last Star Wars action figure from DCBS. I'll email them, but is there any reason why they delay the variants?
  19. If that were the back portion of a wrap around cover, I'd be all over it.
  20. Anyone here ever have buyer's remorse? I put my name on the SS Boba Fett PF Limited Edition, and it looks like my number has been called. This would be my first purchase (second if you count the SS Stormtrooper I sent back since the armor was yellowish). I'm a little worried that I'll get it and wonder why the hell I paid $450 on a statue. I like the statue, but at that cost, it'll be the only one I have for quite a long time. Anyone with thoughts on whether or not I should take the plunge or step back from the ledge?
  21. I don't know anything about Spider-Gwen or Silk. Either of them good reads? Or just potential investments?
