  1. I have 9.8 White copies of ASM 299, 300, 316 and Hulk 340. Was thinking about submitting them for this signing event, but not sure if its worth risking the grade even if the chances is small. On the other hand, I have cover price + tax and grading costs in each of them. So, maybe it is worth the risk?
  2. Very amused reading the reviews here. And I do get both sides of the coin. It just takes me back to the late 1980s when the books were first coming out and the early reviews were pretty much just like the show reviews here. Some people loved it, others thought it was slow and plodding or the antagonist was hollow. In general, through A Dolls House, the comic was thought of as decent but not great. It wasn't until the subsequent short stories and heading through Season of Mists that it really became considered a groundbreaking and largely incredible comic book. Regardless, I think it has enough acclaim and is good enough that we are definitely going to see more seasons. Hate it for those who are not enjoying it as much. So far it is a solid A for me and I anticipate that rating will go up if they continue to follow the story pace of the original series.
  3. As with most here, I've thoroughly enjoyed the series. There have been a few changes made to the details but none that I think change the underlying narrative. Clearly some changes had to be made to fit things to tv streaming format and to avoid overlap with the wider DC universe. Not sure how they would have handled a Martian Manhunter or other crossovers. It's a toss up for me whether my favorite episode is 6 or 10. Episode 6 is so cathartic and well played after experiencing Episode 5 and Hob Gadling is one of my favorite characters from the comic books. But, I expected Ep6 to be good. It did not let down. Episode 10, I was not expecting to be so good. The end parts with Fiddler's Green, Rose, and Unity truly made me a bit teary eyed. I cannot wait to see Season of Mists, A Game of You, and The Kindly Ones make it to the screen now. Hopefully, Netflix will do the smart thing and renew for a few more seasons. If the train wreck American Gods became could muster 3 seasons, surely something done well like this can make it the distance of the entire original comic book run. Keeping my fingers crossed.
  4. We binged through episode 6 last night and I'm very pleased. My expectations were about as high as they've been for any adaptation from comic books or Neil's work and I will say each of the first 6 episodes either met or exceeded expectations. There is a small flaw here and there, but given the change in mediums and bringing it up to current day interpretation, I think it has been very well done and will please fans of the original series. Cannot wait to finish the other 4 episodes tonight, then go back and watch all of it again in a week or so after my mind has had time to unwind and reprocess everything.
  5. While we are still waiting for season 1 to drop on Friday, has there been anything verified about a 2nd season and beyond? I recall an article back last year (or maybe even 2020) while season 1 was in production where Gaiman said they were working on the screenplays for season 2. I feel it is just a matter of when and not if they will announce more seasons. It's hard for me to pick favorite story arcs, but Season of Mists would be near the top for me which would surely be season 2 material. Given 16-20 issues represented in a season, they could be on pace for a solid 5 season run just covering the original series.
  6. While it has a large fanbase, it is not a better known property in main pop culture. A lot of how these books perform will depend on how well the show is done and if it draws in a large following of watchers who were not familiar with the title before. If it cannot do the latter, you basically have the same fans you've always had trading books back and forth.
  7. HeroesCon (yes, there is an 'e' in there, folks) is my hometown show and is always a good one because, as someone mentioned above, it is always very comic book and artist focused. Kudos to Shelton Drum and team for having such a great show that stays true to the hobby and to have done it for so long. That said, you are never going to find a deal on slabbed keys at this show. They are always overpriced and nearly none of the "dealer" will deal on those books. I really think most just display them to draw people in to sell run-fillers and non-mega key books. Best chance to find decent prices on keys, in my experience, has been smaller local shows. Heroes has a mini-con about 6 months off from HeroesCon and there is another quarterly local show in my area and a lot of my good slabbed books have come from these rather than big conventions.

First in this thread gets the item! Do not be alarmed if I don't confirm immediately. I can only check the forums infrequently throughout the day. Thank you for checking out my items!
  13. I love how everyone seems to think grading is based on cover only here. Even though I know better in many cases, it makes me think many graded book collectors are people who migrated in from collected graded sports/trading cards where pretty much everything is visible that you can grade on. There are waaaaaaay more pages inside the book than the two sheets that comprise the cover. There could be any number of issues on the inside you are not seeing. Without obtaining grader's notes on two books you are comparing (and even then grader's notes are often vague), you cannot know why the grade has been assigned. A book that presents as a 9.8 but is graded 7.0 could have a massive catsup stain on the center page and you'd never know once encapsulated.
  14. To swing back to the OP's comment, this book has steadily been gaining steam over the past year. Lately, it has jumped more quickly with the hype/marketing about Doctor Strange 2 increasing. Now is probably not the time to buy it as there is a LOT of public spotlight on the property. If it were me, I'd wait 2 or 3 months after the movie is out for the inevitable, though probably small, drop in prices when everyone starts focusing on the next MCU offering.
  15. There are rarely deals, period. If you want a good key SA book... I mean a key that presents well regardless of grade and has some kind of connecting significance... then you are going to 99% of the time not going to get a deal when you buy it. Best bet is to set a comfortable limit on how much above average market price you are willing to pay. For me that's about 10-20% depending on the book and my liquidity at the time, but I've found if you are not short term flipping, you always come out ahead.
